1. They look like the sort of thing a Premiership Footballer would have hung on the wall of his Cheshire mansion.
2.
Precisions of course. Jazzes necks are too skinny and the extra knob confuses me.
The last thing you need is too many knobs in any situation. Never owned either, and never played a genuine Fender so I don't know, but I've never really wanted one. Well, saying that if I was going to buy one it would probably be a Squier VMJ. So a Jazz then by default.
3. It's all to do with price elasticity of demand
4.
Depends what colour you want.
They do them in different colours? Tell me they do them in blue!
5.
Man, Aussi bands are the best! Check our Dead Letter Circus too, and Cog, and Full Scale......
Good you brought Cog up, reminds me I was going to buy their last album.
6. Used to own one of these. Didn't like it when I had it but in hindsight was a cracking bass. Sold mine over 10 years ago for a ridiculously low price, makes me weep to think how little I got for it. There you go, when you need cash. Looks brilliant in red, if I had some spare cash I'd go for it but as it is
7.
One of my twitches comes when people say things like 'I like the sound of a Jazz ovber a Precision'. I have no idea what the difference is.
Obviously Mr Fender was waisting his time or trying rip his customers of then.
8.
I always feel a bit uncomfortable about owning lots of stuff so I've got one bass, one amp, one cab and one sound and that does it all for me. I still get GAS but I can usually reason it away and be happy with what I've got.
I am exactly the same. There is gear that I would dearly love to have but because playing bass is a hobby and hence not essential, I'll only buy what I can get by with (there's also the fact there are 3 young 'men' in our house who consume vast quantities of our money). I have one bass, a practice amp and a multi-fx pedal. The pedal is an indulgence. Until something changes I won't be getting anything else.

12.
Never used one myself. Always thought a metronome was a Parisian dwarf that travelled by underground rail.
You'll be auditioning for 'I'm sorry I haven'y a clue' on Radio4 in a minute
13.
It's quite endearing to see he actually fluffs at times. Gives hope for us mere mortals.
He fluffs, is that a technique, like slap?
14. Brilliant mate, real chuffed for you. Glad you posted, the forum's been like a roomful of expectant fathers.
15. He's here. The excitement
16.
Or..great gig, too many beers afterwards, behind bars??
Perhaps too many beers and he fell behind the bar and he's still there.
17. Sorry, but seen it done it Like sh1t have I Although I have seen it before.
18. I think I've visited this page more than any other today. This is simply torture
19. Pendulla Raptor's Any one of these (apart from the sunburst, could do with some sandpaper)
20. I've become a big fan over the last month, since Max posted this thread. Simply love the start to Goliath on the latest album when the bass comes in. Aggressive and attacking. Can see what you mean about it being a little generic, silddx. I wasn't fully taken when I initially listened to them, but something clicked and was so impressed that I now have both albums. The second album is a more accomplished and rounded album, but Themeta the title track of the first album is a great track. EDIT: Now I've developed a taste for Australian hard rock and metal bands.
21. This is taking too long. Someone go around his house and give him a nudge, I'm on tenterhooks.
22. Hope all went well. We all need an update.
23. To return to the OP, flatties are all very well but I find my playing flounders somewhat when using them!
24. My strings have always sounded best with the amp turned off and the bass safely tucked away in its case. Playing then results in a quiet thump!
25.
Christ, he's going to be feeling sick as a parrot right now
That's it, you make him feel better about it. <sarcasm>
