1. Pure filth. You know you posted it on the wrong forum it most definitely belongs in Gear Porn and well you know it. Shame on you. Not that I'm envious or anything.
2. just bought an ibanez sr and the neck is very thin. Haven't got the best hands for playing so find it the most comfortable bass i've owned.
3. Good. And they are from the southwest. See we're not all straw chewing idiots! I am but they aren't
4.
NME? what a f***ing waste of a good tree.
+1. Suprised it's still going. Complete pile of s@*te, that it is.
5.
If you've got a good LMS that's decent, honest and not too pricey then you're in an enviable position. We're fast running out of those where i live. Most seem to be opportunists now, displaying stock with no price tags and making prices up on the spot based on how much they think they can get out of you. I showed a lot of loyalty to one shop in particular (about £3,500 woth of loyalty) only to be repaid with botched repair jobs, ordering incorrect items and refusing to take them back (cos i didn't have the original carton the cab came in) and ripping off a few of my mates.
In that instance I too would be off to the internet. My general rule with anything know is scr@w me over once I'll go elsewhere.
6. Went into LMS yesterday. Actually got some gear I'd been looking at on the internet cheaper in the shop. Quite busy in their as well, and the staff, cannot fault them. Their was a young chap in their buying his first guitar (he must of been only 11) and the staff went through everything with him. Obviously they slipped up a little because they let him buy one of those 6 string affairs that make that horrible squeaky noise. This is then the catch 22. Are we to be selfish and for the sake of £10 buy online or support LMS, because let's face it when they get it right a LMS is a lot better than the internet i.e for those just starting out. What do we do?
7. Currently playing an Ibanez SR300. Good for me as it is quite skinny so matches me. Very versatile, can make a wide range of sounds, do agree with some of the reviews that not to expect vintage or classic tones from it, very impressed for the price though.
8. Just seen a thunder 1A in my local music store. Look the biz. Was sorely tempted.
9. Always feel you need the appropriate amount of theory for the style your playing in and to be able to express yourself. And I will be getting off the fence soon.
10. I was going to put a thread on about Westones. My drummer took the p@*s when I said that was my first bass. But it would appear they are generally well regarded.
11. My first bass was a Westone Spectrum 1. Bought it for £100 about 20 yrs ago. It was alright, the pots were a bit naff. But I still loved it to bits. Considering buying it back off the mate I sold it to just for old times sake. I always liked westies. Must say the price the shop is asking seems to me a little OTT but I'm no expert. there are others on the forum with better knowledge
12.
+1 Absolutely. This is what people mean when they say that guitars and vocals are easier to play than the Drums and Bass. It's also what makes the ability to keep time worth infinately more to a bassist than being able to widdle all the way up and down the neck like lightning. I'd go further and say that Vocals and lead guitar HAVE to wander around the beat (within reason of course) in order not to sound too straight and stodgy. The bassist golden rule is to keep locked with the drummer at all times.
Full agreement. Bit worried about the drummer I play with though, he keeps on saying he can't see my foot. I've bought some really funky shoes lately, perhaps he likes them. Odd.
13. Brilliant find. For someone with more enthusiasm than skill (i.e me) always good to watch something like this. Cheers.
14.
consider freight charges etc i hear many basses arent set up properly so if you get it online...you have to have it set up if you go into the shop....you can say you will do it...or get it done and haggle a bit take cash and show it up front in £20's ask to see the manager and pitch it hard that either you get a reduction or you go elsewhere run like f*** if the guy is big and doesnt play ball its a real tough world you will always have the online price to bait with...remember nearly everyone looks online for prices...even shop staff/managers/owners its cash flow and sensible if you can get a deal try to pay in visa...
I'm off now to try that out
15. The main problem where I am is that the nearest store is 12 miles away the next nearest is nearly 40 miles away. And the pricing seems to be somewhat random, but that seems to be the case everywhere. I've never bought gear off the internet didn't know what people's experiences were. Should have done a poll!
16. You're looking to buy some new/different gear. You see a lot of places on the internet selling, what you know is, good stuff for a little cheaper than you can buy in your nearest instrument store. Is it wise to save those extra few quid, or should you really go and test it out in person and get the feel of say the bass your thinking about, or muck about with the features on an amp? Discuss%^$£@!!£%&*())))(*&^%$££
17.
And that 'commentator' somehow noticed those few errors. So, that's what separates you two.. But, anyway, maybe that's, what makes it even more stupid, eh? nevermind< I'm after 6hours of playing, But some people are just so funny
????????????????????????????????????????????? Lost me completely.
18. I'd be chuffed to bits if I thought I could even attempt this one. So credit where credit is due, BRILLIANT. I've listened to the other stuff on your page and as I said before your damn good. I'd ignore the stupid comments, they prob got their fingers trapped in a door or somthing. I think most of us would notice that you're skilled enough to know where you need to 'improve'. Although I didn't notice any errors. Keep on keeping on!
19. Welcome. One piece of advice, do not do what I did several years ago - stop playing, then sell your gear in order to buy something else and spend a lot of time regretting it. Only in the most of extreme circumstances should you ever sell your gear- i.e you need to buy food or something. Best of luck
20. As you have been sold something that is patently not what was described it may come under the distance selling act if it was a merchant. May be worth checking out and it is always nice to launch the word act of law at someone, they tend to wobble a bit.
21.
Hey! welcome to basschat! my meeting and greeting hasnt been at its best this week has it lol internets been down! Z x
cheers. went to your my space link. damn good
22.
I'd bet you could find a s/h cube for £100. Worth looking for.
MMmmmmm. Definitely worth a look around.
23.
I'm afraid not Steve, I still haven't worked out how to record properly on my Mac yet.
Some fantastic gear and an excellent choice in computing. You're obviously a connoisseur. Can't help with the recording problem I'm afraid, haven't used my Mac for that yet. Got a little gadget called an iMic that plugs into to a usb port and has a 3.5mm jack the other end, but as I say haven't done anything with it. You may have already done so but you could always try the support pages on the Apple website if you've got a few years to waste trying to find something relevant to what you are looking for.
