1. I was going to put a thread on about Westones. My drummer took the p@*s when I said that was my first bass. But it would appear they are generally well regarded.
2. My first bass was a Westone Spectrum 1. Bought it for £100 about 20 yrs ago. It was alright, the pots were a bit naff. But I still loved it to bits. Considering buying it back off the mate I sold it to just for old times sake. I always liked westies. Must say the price the shop is asking seems to me a little OTT but I'm no expert. there are others on the forum with better knowledge
3.
+1 Absolutely. This is what people mean when they say that guitars and vocals are easier to play than the Drums and Bass. It's also what makes the ability to keep time worth infinately more to a bassist than being able to widdle all the way up and down the neck like lightning. I'd go further and say that Vocals and lead guitar HAVE to wander around the beat (within reason of course) in order not to sound too straight and stodgy. The bassist golden rule is to keep locked with the drummer at all times.
Full agreement. Bit worried about the drummer I play with though, he keeps on saying he can't see my foot. I've bought some really funky shoes lately, perhaps he likes them. Odd.
4. Brilliant find. For someone with more enthusiasm than skill (i.e me) always good to watch something like this. Cheers.
5.
consider freight charges etc i hear many basses arent set up properly so if you get it online...you have to have it set up if you go into the shop....you can say you will do it...or get it done and haggle a bit take cash and show it up front in £20's ask to see the manager and pitch it hard that either you get a reduction or you go elsewhere run like f*** if the guy is big and doesnt play ball its a real tough world you will always have the online price to bait with...remember nearly everyone looks online for prices...even shop staff/managers/owners its cash flow and sensible if you can get a deal try to pay in visa...
I'm off now to try that out
6. The main problem where I am is that the nearest store is 12 miles away the next nearest is nearly 40 miles away. And the pricing seems to be somewhat random, but that seems to be the case everywhere. I've never bought gear off the internet didn't know what people's experiences were. Should have done a poll!
7. You're looking to buy some new/different gear. You see a lot of places on the internet selling, what you know is, good stuff for a little cheaper than you can buy in your nearest instrument store. Is it wise to save those extra few quid, or should you really go and test it out in person and get the feel of say the bass your thinking about, or muck about with the features on an amp? Discuss%^$£@!!£%&*())))(*&^%$££
8.
And that 'commentator' somehow noticed those few errors. So, that's what separates you two.. But, anyway, maybe that's, what makes it even more stupid, eh? nevermind< I'm after 6hours of playing, But some people are just so funny
????????????????????????????????????????????? Lost me completely.
9. I'd be chuffed to bits if I thought I could even attempt this one. So credit where credit is due, BRILLIANT. I've listened to the other stuff on your page and as I said before your damn good. I'd ignore the stupid comments, they prob got their fingers trapped in a door or somthing. I think most of us would notice that you're skilled enough to know where you need to 'improve'. Although I didn't notice any errors. Keep on keeping on!
10. Welcome. One piece of advice, do not do what I did several years ago - stop playing, then sell your gear in order to buy something else and spend a lot of time regretting it. Only in the most of extreme circumstances should you ever sell your gear- i.e you need to buy food or something. Best of luck
11. stana stair lift?
12. As you have been sold something that is patently not what was described it may come under the distance selling act if it was a merchant. May be worth checking out and it is always nice to launch the word act of law at someone, they tend to wobble a bit.
13.
Hey! welcome to basschat! my meeting and greeting hasnt been at its best this week has it lol internets been down! Z x
cheers. went to your my space link. damn good

15.
I'd bet you could find a s/h cube for £100. Worth looking for.
MMmmmmm. Definitely worth a look around.
16.
I'm afraid not Steve, I still haven't worked out how to record properly on my Mac yet.
Some fantastic gear and an excellent choice in computing. You're obviously a connoisseur. Can't help with the recording problem I'm afraid, haven't used my Mac for that yet. Got a little gadget called an iMic that plugs into to a usb port and has a 3.5mm jack the other end, but as I say haven't done anything with it. You may have already done so but you could always try the support pages on the Apple website if you've got a few years to waste trying to find something relevant to what you are looking for.
17.
Never knew Eden did practice amps. What is your budget buddy?
Around the £100 mark so the Ashdown and Marshall sound good options. The cube is very tempting but a bit too much. Thanks for some really good info and links.
18. I was going to buy some new gear this weekend but I don't think I'll bother anymore!!! Perhaps I'll take up fly fishing.
19. I'm with everyone else you did the right thing. Total support.
20. Just got back into playing again. I'm currently borrowing gear but want to get my own. Looking to buy some sort of practice amp. I can't have anything big due to the size of the house and I need to be able to hide it from the kids ( suffice to say the youngest pair are available to tear down houses if you need anything like that doing). Just wandered if anyone had any suggestions.
21. A funking brilliant purchase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
22.
We should have a party?
Sounds like a good idea
23. Pretty much starting from scratch again myself. Had a jam with a mate who's a drummer and a guitarist he knew, went ok, but i'm as rusty as an old nail. Want to actually learn to play bass this time rather than just thrash out root notes for 5mins, perhaps a few jars may help me!!!!!!!!!
24. thanks fellow newbie
25. Agree with those who say play with others. It's the best thing you can do. Then combine that with learning scales and all the other 'boring' stuff.
