Billy Sheehan has a system that is very well known, nearly as much as the bass he uses, yet there's plenty of times he's been seen with different amps and cabinets. Saw a YT video a while back where I think he was using a Trace head lol
Exactly. I saw a clip of him on one of the Winery Dogs tours in the far east where he was using an Ampeg set up. From what I gather Billy really only takes his bass, pedal board and possibly wireless monitoring gear with him on tour and all the other stuff is hired in. Pretty much standard for musicians as it beats hauling cabs and amps around. Using the gear they endorse isn't always practical. His band mate Kotzen uses various amps and cabs. In the US he's been using his signature Cornford gear, in the UK I think he was using Cornford heads with Marshall cabs and everywhere else it was all Marshall. Prior to that he was using Fenders. That's why he's got his fly rig pedal, as long as he's got that he's fairly happy
this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Marcus-Miller-sire-electric-bass-V7-Swamp-Ash-4-NT-Gigbag-/222187858556?hash=item33bb6daa7c:g:CFMAAOSwtnpXiTmC
That's the one. The ones with a rosewood fretboard are only £25 more brand, 3 year warranty, send it back if you don't like it from Thomann. The maple board ones are around £360 now i think.

One of the better rig rundowns, the ones done with the techs seem a bit naff sometimes. Seems a decent bloke and not too hung up on gear, especially amp stuff or changing strings. I feel justified in not changing mine now

Sire Marcus Miller V7 Jazz. Brand new £325, imo better than the MIM Fender equivalent Jazz...which will set you back about £50ish more even s/h.

I contacted Ashdown about my ABM as it makes a strange background noise. I got an email back saying what it might be, suggested I get 'it looked at'...that was it.
Most of the folks I consider influences are on average 10 years older than me. Paul McCartney Chuck Rainey Larry Graham Stanley Clarke Francis Rocco Prestia Jaco Carol Kaye Sorry, nor accepting any new applications at this time. Don't get me wrong, I know Billy is a 'killer" bass player. Blue
Stanley Clarke, Jaco and Francis Roco Prestia were all born in 1951, Sheehan in '53. Almost half your list are only a few years older than you, no where near 10 years

I find his passion for playing and wanting to give his time to give advice really inspiring. I'm not big on Mr Big but i do like the Winery Dogs. I've seen TWD twice now and they were brilliant both times. Although I must say Kotzen in that band is awesome.
I know he's a great player, but he's not relevant to me, wrong generation. Blue
He's 62, same or similar age to yourself.

Works fine...if your surroundings are completely silent. I'd question its value in a practice room or a gig. It was all over the place when I tried using it, and when I checked against my Zoom pedal, my bass was way out of tune.

If it doesn't feel correct, and having had the other wrist done you'll know, keep going back. Sometimes you have to be a real pain in the arse. All the best

It's very similar in size and weight to the Aguilar SL410x. Having got rid a 410 because it was so cumbersome to lift, not only the weight but the size, having seen Dave Boonshoft quite easily pick up an SL410x, I'd quite happily get one of these new smaller 410's. They're probably not much bigger than the 212s everyone is getting now.

Breathtaking in its deliberateness, magnitude, and hubris

If I were the defence team I'd just play this and leave it at that. Although I'm not a fan of Sheeran or Cardle this has been initiated by 2 faceless 'song writers' and a ball sucking lawyer Cardle has made it clear he has nothing to do with the legal proceedings, so fair shout to him. -
I like it! Milwaukee is now part of Basschat folklore
It's where TIM lives now

Vile little man. Exactly the sort of person the world can do without. I'd be concerned if I thought I needed to be intimidated and bullied in such a manner to up my game.

I thought I'd seek a bit of advice before deciding what to do. I bought an Ashdown ABM 500 evo iii 2nd hand. I plugged it in on getting it home and I'm getting, what I can only describe as, a sort of distorted hiss in the background when a note is played. When you mute the string it stops. It's very noticeable. It happens regardless of settings, even with low input gain, with flat eq, valve drive, compression and sub octave off. I'm a bit stumped. My first thoughts were the valve in the preamp, but as it does it when the valve drive is off I'm somewhat lost. Any pointers would be great. Thanks

I bought one a few weeks ago. It does what it says it does for a very low price. I'll always carry mine in my gig bag as an emergency DI box. I didn't read the instructions, it's a fairly straightforward pedal, I just play around with it to find the sound I want. It certainly adds depth and warth to my signal. A keeper for me. EDIT. Mark me down as not disappointed

I've gone through a few changes over the last 18 months. I had this. Then this. And now I've got this

I'd go for the 500. I had one and it's fine for using at home. I always tend to 'er' on the side of caution and get as much volume, so to speak, as I can. I bought the 500 I had because I wasn't in a band but wanted to make sure that if I did join one I didn't have to sell a small combo to fund getting something to keep up with a band. Good job I did as within 2 months of buying it I was back in practice studios.

Not fun times with parcelfarce and parcel2go
Marvin replied to Twincam's topic in General Discussion
It would be interesting to do an FOI to Parcelforce and find out how much money they received say in 2015 from customers shipping musical instruments and paying for enhanced compensation which their own terms of business specifically exclude.
Parcelforce is a private company and thus not subject to freedom of information act requests. -
Thanks! Sealed is a big part of the equation for me- they may not have been the most versatile, but all my favorite cabs have been that way.
I'm quite a fan of sealed cabs. I've played through a sealed 412 before and it sounded really good. I also had a small practice combo that was sealed, that sounded brilliant
Is it now?! Off topic, but what are you using? I'm on an ol' fashioned 4x12 kick right now!
No one knows what brand cab it is. I joined my current band a few months ago and the previous bass player simply left this cab behind and said the band could have it. There's nothing on it to identify the maker, not even on the jack plate. All I can say is that it's a fairly shallow box, it's sealed not ported, it has a small tweeter ( which is always on) and it's got some very crude looking metal mesh attempting to protect the drivers. It looks very unappealing but sounds very good...and you can really feel the sound waves on the back of your legs when you play through it.

I use a 112 in my loud band, it just happens to be housed in the same cabinet as 3 other 112s.

Others may find it quite dull, however, this was posted on Facebook and I thought it quite interesting to see what a pro player like Guy uses. ...and look, a Zoom B3. If I'm not in a band I watch films and eat doughnuts and my gear starts collecting dust

Pickups both on full and tone wide open. I like the slight phase from both pickups being on and the back pickup adds bite to contrast with the rounder neck pickup. All my EQing is done via the amp It provides a nice and useful contrast to the p bass I have
