For the price of 2nd hand MIM Fender Jazz you can get a Sire V7. I always regard Mex Fenders as incredibly expensive for what they are.

If your drummer couldn't be heard [font=arial,helvetica,sans-serif][b][color=#000000][size=4]synthaside [/size][/color][/b][color=#000000][size=4]then your guitarist(s) is simply too loud, insanely loud. [/size][/color][/font] The Rumble 500's are fantastic combos and they are loud. However, if your guitarist is drowning out drummers then the combo on its own might be asking a bit much and you may need an ext cab.

As someone who came back to playing about 7 years ago, Marshall's problem seemed to be they just didn't seem interested. It wasn't gear I even considered buying when I came back to playing. They were, at that time, producing heavy, unreliable and unappealing amps and cabinets. Others were producing more appealing gear at similar or better prices. They suffer from being regarded as a guitar amp manufacturer and to some extent the bass range being an after thought. Even now there seems to be little effort in getting EDEN 'out there'. It's a great brand with a good reputation and you can barely find it in the UK

The age range of my current band is 40 to 43, so quite narrow...that's assuming the drummer is 40, I don't really know how old he is but he looks the same age as the rest of us. Either that or he's had a really hard life There is an assumption amongst many that as soon as you're over, sort of, 35 then you can only be in a covers band. Nothing wrong with being in a covers band, I was in a great one 2 years ago, but if you want to dabble your toe in originals then it becomes more difficult.

I'd send it back for a refund. Once doubt, about the reliability of a piece of equipment, creeps in it's best to send it back and move on.

Carol Kaye, Kim Deal and Tina Weymouth, out of that very short list have definitely had an impact. I don't think Tal Wilkenfield has really been around, or known long enough, to have been able to shape music.

Marshall bought EDEN a while back and put all its 'bass' eggs in that basket effectively.

Richie Kotzen Patricia Lynn Drew (she of an unknown band The Wind and The Wave) there's something about her voice that's just right for me. And the singer from the last covers band I was in. Loved her voice.

Cutting through the chaff, time wasters and idiots is a full time occupation when it comes to musicians...or, rather, those who seek to be in a band. Those who've been recommended aren't anymore reliable or motivated than the people you contact or have contacted you via the Internet. And established bands seem no different to start ups. It's amazed me how some established bands have kept going with such slack attitudes. The best band I've been in recently was a new band where two of the members had never been in a band before. You couldn't have wished for more motivated and professionally minded people. Unfortunately one of them had to leave the area and it was impossible to replace them...because of the high proportion of time waisting, talentless morons that infect music.

Guitar amps. Bassbreaker may be a nod to when guitarists picked up Bassman amps as they liked the tone.

I like 'em as straight as possible. The Sire is dead straight and there's very little relief in thr Squier VM precision I've just got. Both set up to how I like, lowish. Oddly the one bass that always had to have a lot of relief in the neck was a Yamaha I had. It was a severe disappointment given their reputation. It didn't matter how hard I tried the overall set up was never one I liked, way too much relief and still buzzed.

I've tried out two class D set ups within the past year and been very happy with both. Firstly, a Fender Rumble 500 Combo V3. These are lovely combos with a great tone, very vintage and pleasing to the ear and loud...I can't remember why I chose to swap it to be honest. I now have an Aguilar TH350. This took a bit more time to twiddle with but over the last 2 practices with my band it's sounding bang on. Very warm and I'm getting some nice grit in the sound, and again loud. I stick either my P or J bass through it and they sound great. They may be both class D but they're very different in character. I like that the one thing they do have in common is a lack of fuss. There are a couple of preset buttons on the Fender, however apart from that it's a straightforward amp. The drive or overdrive on both are very usable, unlike the GK solid state amp I had prior to them. The overdrive on that was dreadful, almost a joke. As with all gear, you find what you like the sound of. Personally I wouldn't have looked at the TC Electronic in the first place.

Very nice set up. I really like the Rumble series, Fender really did their homework with these.
