1.
Rec'd my white, alder V7 with rosewood board today...... and...... WOW.... Straight out of the box it sounded bold and resonant unplugged which is always a good sign! Then I plugged it in and instant even tones rang out with plenty of punch where required..... THEN I flicked the active switch......... and had to go and lie down.....
You don't like it do you
2. I watched it last night and thought that the 'mix' had improved somewhat. I quite liked the mix they achieved. Cohesive is the word I'd use. Usually there's one element that overpowers the rest of the band but not last night.
3. This is prompted by a post I saw on a social media site by a friend of mine whose band are playing a gig at the weekend. It wasn't what I would call a promotional post more a plead for people, friends mainly, to attend their next gig. (They need the gig to do well to help finance a short tour they're doing - yes all sounds a bit arse about face ) However, it got me thinking. How far should we as fellow musicians go to support bands and venues local to us? Of course if we don't go to the venues then the venues will shut and we'll have no where to play ourselves. But, on the other hand, is not the onus on the venues, on the whole, to book bands and artists that are going to put 'bums on seats' or 'feet on dancefloors'. There's always chances for new bands to try out with support slots, thats always been a given. And is it not for bands to not step up to the mark. Should we as musicians, members of bands etc be expected to fork out to watch other bands who we'd normally give a very wide berth? From my personal perspective I wouldn't want anyone in the crowd who felt obliged to be there. I want people to attend my gigs because they want to be there, otherwise it feels a bit fake.

It's great for practice at home, especially with the CD/MP3 input, also great for smaller practices or accompanying acoustic instruments. I'm in North Devon collection or meet up (plus a bit of petrol money) preferred as posting is a little impractical. Very versatile with the 4 band active eq and the boost valve effect is a nice feature. It also comes with some rack ears, not the official GK ones but do the job as well. I would definitely be keeping this amp if not for the fact I'm not going to be playing in bands for quite some time. I'm in North Devon. Although it's not a heavy amp, postage is probably a little impractical so collection or meet up would be best (with a contribution to petrol)
8. Bump. This is quite a lump of bass for not a lot of cash
9. Getting into and then keeping a band together is becoming an unrewarding experience, especially covers. I'm not bothering anymore. The thought of having to learn another set of covers I'd rather rip my ears off than listen to fills me with dread. But no one wants to do originals it seems. It makes you wonder what songs covers bands will be playing in 5-10years time...mustang sally again amd again?
10. Thanks. I've got someone interested so fingers crossed
11.
Not a sentence one sees on BC very much
Her favourite colour is red and she likes how sleek it is. Unfortunately I don't plan on joining another band so it won't get played and basses need to be played
12.
Andy Summers is still happy to pick up the royalties from Sting/arsehole penned Police songs then?
He doesn't get royalties from the songs Sting penned though, only Sting does.
13. The last two basses I've bought have had active/passive switches so you can play in either. I think it's something that should be on all active basses. It gives a lot of options. Luckily on these two basses if you set the active tone flat and then switch to passive you don't notice much if any difference in output or tone. I only really use the on board active eq on a bass if I'm not going through an amp anyway, otherwise I set it flat and use the eq on the amp to make any adjustments I want.
14. They already have targeted this site. There's a ban on the sale of any Rickenbacker or Rickenbacker clones, look-a-likes etc.
15. My eyes a firmly peeled on Lemonrock . There was one on there but I it's material that I'm not particularly strong on.
16. Well done Lee, I'm fairly certain I wouldn't have been able to last a whole gig like that.
I had a full on migraine mid gig a while back, a truly horrid experience, with visual disturbance/blind spots and seriously painful headache. Standing next to the drums was truly torturous.
..or this. Last time I had a migraine that bad I thought someone had put my head in a vice. I had less pain when I had appendicitis.
17. My band has split up so I am looking to get into or start another band. I'm enthusiastic, committed, have and my own gear and transport. I'd be interested in either an originals or covers band. My musical tastes are also quite broad. Get in touch
18. Winning combination, no doubt about it.

I look after my basses so it's in good condition. It's got that very slim Ibanez SR neck and a very sleek body. This bass is very light, the lightest bass I've owned.
