1. Having the hots for the drummer doesn't make the band any better...good grief. I blame 5 string basses
 2.

He's right you know
 3.
You were lucky to get a signed one. Having said that, I'm not sure how many he signed... looks like a really nice Jazz. So tempting - I love the white one with maple neck (surprise!). Have to wait for a while though, it's on the list... maybe later this summer. Congratulations on your new baby! I know you did proper research before pulling the trigger, so thanks for doing that so we don't have to! I'm sure these are going to be very successful. Sue Ryder basses they are not. Though there's nothing wrong with those either - at the price point... Seems like the tone circuit makes it very versatile indeed... could be the weapon of choice for function, event and cover band bass players..?
Cheers Mark. My money and I are difficult to part, so yes, I tend to do a lot of reading about stuff before I buy it
Sloppy-in-the-Knobs. It's a small village in Gloucestershire.
I think my brother might live close to it...
If the worst happens just sign it yourself with a Sharpie. Who'll know?
No one .
 4. I was chuffed to get a signed one...perhaps just a fluke. It's got a plastic film over the neck plate to protect it, if that comes off though I'll have to figure something else out
 5. The 4 string weigh approx 9.5lbs. I think that's similar to a Squier CV Jazz, maybe a couple of oz's more than a Squier VM. I own lighter basses, but the V7 sits nicely on a strap and is comfortable. I played for 3 hours at practice the other night and only put the bass down once for about 10mins.
 6. Actually I've had this bass for about a week now, it just took me a while to get around to taking some pictures of it. I might add, taking pictures of a black bass is quite difficult There's been a bit of a stir about these new basses, here and on Talkbass, so after seeing a very positive review by former lurker of basschat, OutToPlayJazz, I decided to take the plunge. These basses are not expensive, about the same as the upper Squiers, so in the region of £300+. I ordered the bass late on a Thursday, from Thomann, it arrived early Wednesday morning, well packaged. Out of the box I was very impressed. The finish if very good, no blemishes, no sharp frets, everything feels solid and well put together. The tuners feel tight as do the control knobs - nothing sloppy in the knobs . The jack socket on mine is as tight as Scrouge. I could jump up and down all night on the cable to the bass and it probably wouldn't come out. The neck for me though is great. The neck is the thing I really like on this bass, not as skinny as my Ibanez, which worried me a bit, but in fact I prefer it's profile. Really well finished and feels great to play. I haven't adjusted the action at all and there are no buzzes or rattles. Plugged in, this, to my ears, is a modern sounding Jazz bass. In passive you can get a more vintage sound, but to me you still have that modern sounding edge. Perhaps it's the really new zingy strings Personally I think it does have a Miller imprint in the sound. This bass is loud, I had to turn the volume on my amp down a couple of notches. The EQ control lets you have some considerable control over tone. On other actives I have it's more a case of fine tuning, on this, especially with the sweepable mid control, you can do...well, all sorts. I think Sire and Marcus Miller have achieved what they set out to do, produce a very good quality instrument at an affordable price. I'm not going to say or compare it with much more expensive basses, I feel I've got a very good bass for what I paid. It's now my go to bass http://marcusmillerbysire.com/marcusmiller/page/marcus_v7.html
 7.
Basically if the band are enjoying it, the audience are enjoying it at least as much as the band are and there's a third party prepared to part with money to enable this joyous union to take place you shouldn't give a flying f*ck what anyone else thinks.
Absolutely.
 8. To be fair Genz was producing great gear that bass players really rated and it was the decision of its parent company, Fender, to close it down, for reasons no one can understand. Genz would certainly be on my list if I was out to buy a new amp. As for TC over egging their power ratings, it's been well discussed, and to be honest I'm weary of most manufacturers claims. They all measure these things differently anyway.
 9. The best fivers are to be found in banks, they've always got the crispy new ones. You can thank me later for my advice.
 10.
I'm a fan. I admit the album doesn't grab me in the same way some others do, but I find it very listenable, for the technical side if not exclusively the music. I enjoy hearing what he does, and figuring out the way he does it (I was familiar with octaving a guitar down, but POGing your bass up?! Witchcraft!). If nothing else, I wouldn't have discovered BassChat if it wasn't for googling 'Royal Blood effects', and now I'm completely hooked on learning about bass effects, new rigs, the best way to hook up to sound desks, trawling the basses which come up for sale... So I guess I have Royal Blood to 'thank' for that...
You won't be thanking them, trust me. Trawling the for sale pages of Basschat does you harm, it gives you GAS and GAS is an evil mistress Oh good grief I've just seen a lovely p bass for sale...oh the pain and misery, will it never end
 11.
Easy remedy for that one. Learn to spot the attributes of time wasters before you commit to working with them. Blue
Live where I live and you'd never play in a band without time wasters in it. In the last five years I've probably met about 2 people ( one guitarist and one singer) who had the right attitude
 12. Usual rules apply, pictures (preferably video footage if at all possible) or it just didn't happen. And if there's any helium or nitrous oxide left over, you know, share it out...
 13.
There's obviously a niche in the market... what about filling the cab with helium? Come on, I have all these great ideas - it's up to the engineers to make them work!
Wouldn't that give it a high pitched squeaky tone? That's what happened to me when I got filled with hellium...
 14. I'm afraid we only have this lovely Translucent Black example, we never stocked white
These have really nice necks and a great range of tones. Very solidly built too. And light!
The necks are nice and slim, bit like an Ibanez SR.
 15.
I'm in mid cornwall. It's not easy finding shops with cabs to try round here!
Quite. Even Mansons doesn't have much bass gear to be honest...less now they decided to chop the end of the room off to effectively make room for more acoustic guitars.
 16. I can listen to it, some of it's quite catchy, but I don't get the 'WOW' factor that some have for them. A lot of it sounds like a heavier version of some of the 90's alternative US stuff I used to listen to.
 17.
I've just read the whole thread ................ then had to check the date wasn't April 1st - appears to be March 1st so it's obviously not a joke. I'm astonished that so many of you could be hooked by:- a) an entry level copy of a 1960 designed instrument. Such could be considered even worth talking about when good copies of these instruments have been around since the early 1970s c) one which doesn't even come with gig bag normally (so requires considerable expenditure in relation to the cost of the instrument to render it usable to a non bedroom only musician) d) one which seems to have a manual with such poor English as to put it on a par with late 70s far eastern electronic goods. Have you all gone mad or is there such a lowering of the lowest common denominator of desired level of musicianship on this forum that buying one of this starter instruments sight unseen should generate such fervent interest?? The name is even a misspelling of Fender's entry level line - although even that has been the subject of discussion seemingly wishing to elevate it almost to custom shop level. Has anyone dropped one of these Sires to see if it splinters under the slightest gig accident - btw the Squier does - I've seen it happen. If you were lusting after a Ritter or Alembic etc I could understand it, I simply don't understand why people would want to buy a cheap Fender copy in this manner unless they were kids starting out!! Oh well I'm sure someone will give me the low down 😃😄😄😄😄
OutToPlayJazz (Rich) who used to comment on this forum regularly, has some very expensive gear, bought one, gigged it and rated very highly. He even took it to Bass Direct who were equally impressed. I'll go on the recommendations of a pro player and a retailer of high end gear...and anyone who's actually bought one
 18.
Hi, I'm looking for a cab to replace my marshall mbc 115. It's to big, heavy and doesn't sound great. I want a single cab for now that I can add to later. Yesterday I went to mansons in Exeter and tried a few 115s - Ampeg svt 15 e GK neo 115 Fender rumble 115 Hartke hydrive 115. The one that really surprised me was the fender rumble v3 115. The hartke seemed sort of wooden sounding and the GK was a bit too bright for my liking. I had been considering the ampeg but it's £200 more than the rumble, bigger and a bit heavier. I also thought the ampeg seemed a bit under rated with a maximum power handling of 200w rms versus the rumbles 300. Funnily enough the features that stopped me walking out with the rumble are the ones I'm looking for - small and light! It almost seems to good to be true that the smallest, cheapest and lightest cab (must admit I didn't try lifting the GK) there was also to me the best sounding. I'm a bit concerned that this cab might be a bit too lightly built. Has anyone used the v3 rumble 115 cabinet as a standalone for a loud band with drummer? If so how does it cope? Thanks, Pete
I was in Mansons last week and lifted the Fender up just to see what it's weight was. It's a good job I didn't put too much effort in otherwise it would have hit the ceiling. Surprisingly light. EDIT: just checked the Fender website, those cabs are less than 18kg.
 19. Only basses ordered from the website directly come with a gigbag. The ones from Thomann don't and to be I that is reflected in the price.
