    To be fair Genz was producing great gear that bass players really rated and it was the decision of its parent company, Fender, to close it down, for reasons no one can understand. Genz would certainly be on my list if I was out to buy a new amp. As for TC over egging their power ratings, it's been well discussed, and to be honest I'm weary of most manufacturers claims. They all measure these things differently anyway.

    I can listen to it, some of it's quite catchy, but I don't get the 'WOW' factor that some have for them. A lot of it sounds like a heavier version of some of the 90's alternative US stuff I used to listen to.

He even took it to Bass Direct who were equally impressed. I'll go on the recommendations of a pro player and a retailer of high end gear...and anyone who's actually bought one

I also thought the ampeg seemed a bit under rated with a maximum power handling of 200w rms versus the rumbles 300. Funnily enough the features that stopped me walking out with the rumble are the ones I'm looking for - small and light! It almost seems to good to be true that the smallest, cheapest and lightest cab (must admit I didn't try lifting the GK) there was also to me the best sounding. I'm a bit concerned that this cab might be a bit too lightly built. Has anyone used the v3 rumble 115 cabinet as a standalone for a loud band with drummer? If so how does it cope? Thanks, Pete [/quote] I was in Mansons last week and lifted the Fender up just to see what it's weight was. It's a good job I didn't put too much effort in otherwise it would have hit the ceiling. Surprisingly light. EDIT: just checked the Fender website, those cabs are less than 18kg.

    Only basses ordered from the website directly come with a gigbag. The ones from Thomann don't and to be I that is reflected in the price.

    My band are on the look out for a new singer. A particularly bad practice. Our guitarist was incandescent...which is odd as he's never been that bright before . Being serious, our singer is just not pulling her weight and isn't really up to standard. I always find tracking down a good singer really difficult, more difficult than drummers to be honest. Perhaps I'm a tad lucky but I know of two drummers who I could have asked if ours had left. However, singers are a nightmare in my experience.

The passive is a really handy feature, firstly if you've forgotten to pack any spare batteries but also I've used it to achieve a very convincing old school tone.     The active EQ probably makes a more marked difference than on the other actives I have owned, especially the treble. I really do like the sweepable mids as well. I've got the TRBX504 (so, coincidently I have the 4 string versions of your 5s Dave ) and I'd agree, they feel is different, each having their own positives. Both very good basses but I really do think that unfortunately I'm going to sell the 504 as I don't think it'll get out of its case anymore.

    I played mine at practice on Friday and was thoroughly taken with it. It's now my go to bass and will be for the foreseeable. It has a great tone that really can be clearly heard in the mix. It's very loud, well, I thought it was. I had my amp set at the volume I'd normally have it and had to turn it down quite a bit. Very happy. Dave. The G on mine is low, probably lower than on my other basses but it doesn't sound as if it's as low as yours maybe...but then I don't play slap either
