I wanted to be in a band with my mates, they played guitar so it was either bass or drums and as i had nowhere to keep a kit... I always wanted be a guitarist really (stop booing its not remotely funny ), but never actually learnt how to play the guitar, which is clearly a problem if you want to be a guitarist. I don't really have bass heroes or someone I want to play like. There are players whose work interests me and I take away as much as I can from listening to them. I'm not someone who get into a track just because the bass part is supposedly great, frankly doesn't intetest me at all
Got the 2nd amp of the week today, this time from Gear4Music. Great news is that it doesn't appear to have any of the problems of the last one. Got band rehearsal tonight, so a good chance to crank it up and see how it performs. Bad news was that it arrived without a UK power lead, only a European one. Quick call to G4M, and they apologised and said they'd get one out to me ASAP. Luck seems to be against me this week! Have a gig on Saturday, so with that and the rehearsal, I'll post some thoughts back on the amp's performance. First impressions, it looks great!
The version 2 rumble I bought from G4M came with a two pin lead. Fair dues though a UK one appeared in the post next day. Great to hear it's all ok
He really does. I like his little moans as he unwraps it.
I found the running water annoying and the little moans rather disturbing...I did, for a moment, wonder what we were going to see next -
OBBM for me as well. I'm not being funny, but when I whip it out and plug it in, I do get a sense of satisfaction. The quality is there to feel.
Well yes and no. My TRBX is the first active bass ive owned that will run in true passive mode, without even needing a battery in it. Other active basses ive had haven't worked like this and if the battery died so did the bass. Maybe this wasn't the norm though. So while I understand the active/passive switch I'd still like confirmation that it does indeed work as above. Gettting very close to ordering the White/RW V7 though.
Yes, I assumed that all active passive basses could do the same, however they may not I suppose. From what I remember my previous active passive bass could go without the battery and I've got a Yamaha TRBX504 which as you know will work with no battery. I should find out soon re. the MM v7 -
Same here. I love the look of the black one, its just perfect, but i love the white one as well. Damn, Only things i dont like are the headstock and bridge. i can live with both but the bridge looks a bit cheap to me (cheaper than it obviously is of course) Too those who have ordered one, when doing a review could you please see if the bass will run without a battery in it. Im very paranoid about pre amps going dead on me at gigs.
It has an active passive switch, so if the battery does go you just switch it to passive. I personally think all actives should come like that. EDIT: just noticed you've got a TRBX505, so you'll know all about that -
Good work! 4 or 5 ? Do let us know what it's like - really keen hear a comprehensive BC review.. Current plan pulls the trigger on a 5 late March. Still can't decide what finish..
Ordered the 4 string version. There will be a NBD thread when it arrives and I've had a fumble with it -
OMG, I've found a track on there by a band I was in in the early 90s! Thirteen years later it appears on a compilation that was released eight years ago! Talk about your life being online... please play it - I'll get 0.05 percent of $0.007. Then off to Antigua for me! https://play.spotify...F78z6Bs8zeqYKjx
I'll put it on an infinite loop of repeating play on my Samsung tablet...you might have to wait a few, um, months for the royalties to stack up though -

Should I go to Mansons guitar emporium today?
As it's half term I voted no to save you from hordes of wannbe guitarists. However it seems the visit passed without incident and Bass. On that subject and re your gas, have you visited the Marcus Miller/Sire Bass thread? Very affordable...
I'm just decideing which finish I should get re. the Marcus Miller /Sire Bass Tobacco Burst or Black.... -
Just sold a DBX compressor to Chris. Great comms, very prompt payment. Absolutely no problems. A classic basschat deal

Mike bought a Squier P bass from me. Great comms, very quick payment. A seamless transaction...all good Cheers

Should I go to Mansons guitar emporium today?
Marvin replied to Marvin's topic in General Discussion
I went, I saw...and didn't buy anything. The bass 'department' seems to have shrunk markedly in Mansons to make room for , um, a lot more acoustic guitars it seems. I did see a very nice candy apple red Fender MIM Jazz. It really did look very nice and felt very nice. BUT, at up around £550ish I think it was, just not nice enough. There were quite a few 4 figure Fenders, all out of my price range. The Pedulla's were very nice...but they were into 4 figures as well. The basses were all ok, but nothing really grabbed me. I was disappointed with the amp side of things, there was very little to choose from. A few Hartke combos and the odd bit of this and that really. I also went into another music shop in Exeter which was quite frankly a complete waste of time. Where they keep what pitiful basses they have is an embarrassment, they just shouldn't bother. SO...I've still got Jazz bass GAS -
Hope the one on order is all ok. I saw one in a store today, very nice. It looked very well finished and it's very light.
Yes, they're only wood and wire but I've moved on three basses and regret selling them all. Will I ever learn? No
Fixed
No. I'm not familiar with the Eagles history, so don't understand what you mean. Either they're very particular about getting it spot on or the versions are completely different? Judging by the fact that they've recorded 'live' albums, I'm guessing it must be the latter. What would be the point (other than financial) of releasing songs that are exactly the same? Just do a greatest hits album.
Anal would be the word to use when referring to The Eagles

I've got an Ampeg 410...I don't worry about it blowing away in the wind It's not the weight I find a problem, it's a deep cab so can be awkward to carry. Very rarely does any one help me with it
