1. Can't even buy it in my neck of the woods...not even the nearest WH Whiffs stocks it any more. Odd, as they do sell tub thumping monthly
2. Price drop - £15 As new, project I bought it folded so never got used. Boxed. Photo to follow.
3. People not learning by ear will be one of those first world problems. Most of the people who I've been in bands with that swear blind they can play by ear make an absolute balls up of the songs they try...I wish sometimes they would maybe get some guidance from a decent score or tab.
4. The one thing that playing in a 'bedroom' to backing tracks etc won't prepare you for is actually playing with other people...it can be a whole different ball game. You can learn a song at home, think you've really nailed it, get into a practice room with others and it'll sound 'different'...others may not be playing what you expect them to and you have to respond to that. Over analysing your playing can be a destructive path..it was for me and resulted in a miserable 2 years of thinking I wasn't good enough to be in certain bands. What you realise is that the really good players are both encouraging, polite and humble. The one's who think their excrement smells better then the rest, they're not worth being in a band with anyway. Enjoy playing, and one of the best ways is to play in a band. You'll learn more and improve quicker than staying home. My playing has massive holes in it, there's straightforward stuff that I'm absolutely crap at...but I've never failed to get in a band I've tried out for. This to me is really odd, but what the hell. If you can fit it in with your job, go for it.
5. I started getting into techno, house and acid jazz when Oasis et al were popular. I hated all those bands. To me they wrre insipid and as bland as could be...very right on i suppose in the way they recycled so much material from before. All those bands pretty much killed off British guitar music for me. Noel's just got a big gob and has to say something a bit off to get headlines when his new record is coming out....suppose it might be used for a cure for insomnia
6. From what I can gather the US ones come with the cover and a gig bag, but the European ones don't seem to. I could be wrong though.
7. GASing for a black jazz bass for some reason
8. 'tis witchcraft and other such dark mischief...I'll have nothing to do with it
9. Apparently they weigh about 26kg...similar to a bag of cement, or 2 concrete blocks if my memory serves me right.
10.
If I gigged more. And was any good. Be pleased to otherwise.
That's me as well. The OP mentioned awesome players and I thought there and then "that's you out of the frame then Marvin" ...and of course I seem to only be able to do one gig a year.

Westfield E4500

I've got a Westfield Strat copy, bought it for £85 new off of eBay. I'm very impressed with the build quality, it's a great looking guitar. The pickups are a bit weak but other than that...FANTASTIC!!!!!
12.
I don't play bass unless I'm learning or rehearsing songs for a set. I don't play it solo, it seems a bit pointless. Bass is not a solo instrument in my view and those who make it so do it very deliberately and are generally good at it. I'm not such an animal - I'm a team player me, and I don't think a bass fulfills its proper potential unless it's heard in the mix, as has been said in another thread. I'm not a fantastic technical player - I do what I need to get sounds I think are good - but the most important thing for me is to play to support the song and do as much as possible to enable everyone else in the band to come across as best they can. This is a totally different skill from practicing scales and so forth. Practice scales if you want to be good at playing scales and play in a band if you want to be good at playing in a band. Though they're not mutually exclusive of course. All IMHO.
Precisely, and that's why I don't practice at all as I've currently got no songs to learn at the moment...and it gives me more time to add to my GAS list
13. I used the former incarnation of the Fender Rumble 210 combo for a few pub gigs and it performed very well. I can only surmise that the new V3 Rumbles are an improvement on an already good product. I'd buy one put it that way
14.
A blast from the past.
Indeed Apparently he gigged his Miller V7 the other night and was very impressed with it...his band mates were all stumped as to how come it was so cheap
15.
No. Black basses are as an abomination unto the LORD. What did I just say, ye HEATHEN?? Also black and tort is actually illegal. Expect a visit from the authorities.
Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, So wrong it actually pains me
16. This is a US made DBX compressor. Some details on it in this article. http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/dbx166a.shtml It's in full working order, the metal body has got some scratches on it...lightly reliced but not damaged I'm in North Devon.
17. Sold, Pending all the usual stuff.
18. Price Drop - £40 A 15 band graphic equaliser. As new, I've still got the box it came in. Here's the spec from Behringer http://www.behringer...ts/FBQ1502.aspx Collection preferred (I'm in North Devon), can meet up within a reasonable distance, but can post at cost. 19. A 1991 Korean Squier Precision Bass. I've put in new pots and wiring loom made by our very own KiOgon...so the tone control actually works rather than just be on or off . It's a very nice playing bass, strung at the moment with flats so has a very old school proper p bass sound at the moment. The neck feels good and the wood is quite lovely in itself...the grain of the maple is IMO gorgeous. A 20+ year old bass in very good condition. Collection preferred (I'm in North Devon) but can post at cost.
20. If OutToPlayJazz is impressed then it's a good bass. Seems the US has been hit by a shipping dispute
21. If an instrument is right for 'you' you shouldn't be fussing about what name is on the headstock...if it's Fender then so be it.
22. There are few guys on Talkbass who have ordered them. I'm eagerly awaiting their opinion on them. One used to be a regular on here whose opinion I much valued...pity he's not on here anymore.
