1. iTunes user with an iTunes account and still no sign of Bonio and his band of chums in my music library...I feel blessed.
2. ... and being serious for a moment. Although my scale/theory knowledge is limited, I do find that songs make more sense if I can relate some theory to them... and you start to understand why certain note choices sound more appropriate than others.
3.
That's actually a far more persuasive argument, especially to those of us whose playing has "plateau'd". I have a (depressingly small) arsenal of licks I can drop into a bassline, and I've always wanted to be able to chuck new stuff in on the fly - yes, but what if it doesn't fit?
Quickly slide up, very quickly, to the root, works a treat
4. Scales are essential for fish, therefore bass. I know, it's not even remotely amusing. It is Monday.
5. I look forward to see what TE have got coming out new. I'd like to see anything new so that TE are recommended on these pages, like with other brands.
6. I'd stick with it for now and see if things improve.
7.
Yep, Change your band name to "Half Price Carvery" !!!
With support from 'Free Beer'
8. The only thing that attracts a crowd in my neck of the woods, on a Sunday, is a carvery .
9. Surely things have improved immeasurably since that One Direction chappy has left Redditch? Haven't they?
10.
I chortled into my PG Tips.
...I'm still chortling, pretty much all around the house.
11.
Bilbo lives in a place where windows are rare, East Anglia I live in London, I hear mostly drummers practicing, but sometimes guitars, and occasionally horns.
If you insist on living in the red light district you've only got yourself to blame if you here people playing with horns...
12. I think Rush are a great band and thoroughly enjoyed the programme. Being together for 40 years is quite something. I just don't like their music though :/
13.
OTOH if you go to a decent timber merchant they'll be able to cut *far* more accurately than you can with a hand saw (unless you go get one of those fancy saw guides or mess about clamping guide battens to everything) The OP only has a cordless jigsaw anyway, which will make getting decent straight cuts for the joints very hard indeed IME.
My experience of B&Q has never been a good one...it's why I never went near them for any building/construction projects. A good timber merchant is a different thing all together.
14.
Read 'not accurate at all' - to the point of being useless.
Quite. Probably make a better job of it using a good handsaw.
15. Yep, the most expensive place known to man...or women. I only had a very small practice amp and one bass when I joined here, now I have a little bit more than that Welcome, be careful
16. Currently in NONE...quite nice not having to put up with egits for a while to be honest
17.
The Ampeg B410HLF is their bassiest 410. (the deep cabinet that tilts back to move) Next comes the PF 410 with ports on the back. There is a sealed 410 also that is like a SVT .
The B410HLF doesn't tilt back to move, that's the SVT410HLF. Ampeg did do a 410HE sealed cab in both the B and SVT ranges. However, the B series range is now discontinued.
18.
Really?
Yes, because some people like to buy gear endorsed by famous players. So someone, who plays bass and is a big Iron Maiden fan, might want to buy a SH sig I was looking at it from someone else's perspective not my own. SH gets many positive comments on here, AC doesn't, hence I struggle to see where the market is.
19. I can understand someone going for say, a Steve Harris sig, he is after all a very good bass player and someone who bass players find inspirational... not something I think would apply to AC and any instrument carrying his name.
20. I don't have the iTunes app or an iPhone...and if I did I would set them up like iTunes on my Mac Mini, which is basically "Hey! Apple! Keep tour nose out of my music library. Well, as much as you can with these things. Neither do I use cloud services, don't like them. I think this is another gaff by Apple tbh.
21.
The local timber merchant stock Birch Ply. I asked if they stocked "void free Baltic Birch or similar" and got this as a quote... 12244122BIRPLY 12mm 2440 x 1220 Birch Plywood BB/BB £31.49+VAT
If that's actually Baltic Birch then it's a good price. Just bear in mind (and I'm likely to offend someone here, but it comes from personal experience) when it comes to dealing any company that has 'merchant' in the title you have to be very specific and make sure you're not fobbed off with something else. Personally I'd pay for the Baltic Birch. It has a nicer finish and is better quality all round. It may be your first build but you may find you make a really good job of it and think afterwards 'oh arse I wish I'd made it out of BB'
22. As a first build, Bill's Simplexx cabs are a great starter. It's about as straightforward as you can get I'd say. The plans are very detailed, got great tips and advice on the build process and provide a number of driver options to suit taste and/or budget.
