1.
Yeah, but it didn't work this time and now I've made an arse of myself, so I hope you're happy.
Well, in this turbulent and ever changing world, it's nice to know some things don't change
 2. I use the hercules mini stands and never had a problem with them
 3.
I have been on the phone to Guitar Giutar and they are not interested. PlusI am out of pocket and bassless until I can get it redelivered!
I'd be back on the phone, and if needs be kicking up a stink. You paid them for Sunday delivery, your contract is with them so I'd be asking for a full refund on the delivery charge. You don't have a contact with DPD so it's not up to you to go chasing them. I'd also be seeking some discount on the bass and it delivered at a time of my convenience... so I could write on Basschat ' what great service I got from this well known instrument retailer, some non-employee stranger type must have answered the phone the first time, I assume'. Hope it works out.
 4. The problem with streamlining the models within each range is, as as been seen on this very thread, people end up saying '..but, I'd to see them do...' which of course means another model. Fender aren't a boutique or high end manufacturer, they should stick to being a mass manufacturer but make sure they have very good QC. People still buy into the brand so the core of their business is probably quite healthy. It's the aimless acquisitions that are harming Fender both financially and its reputation. It's cost them a fortune and it's not gone down well with the instrument buying public that good brands have been bought up and shut down. Bono and The Edge being 'hired', for me, shows that those at the top of FMIC are totally clueless regards the market they are in. It can be regarded as a gimmick at best. Celebrity board members would be all very well if they were synonymous with the brand, but they aren't. They may use Fender but they're not Fender through and through, so it's a nonsense. FMIC might not survive but the Fender brand will, someone would buy it if the holding company went under.
 5. I've emailed Yamaha to ask if it is it for the TRB range. I also checked the Yamaha US site and it's disappeared from there too. It'll be interesting to see what they say. I was only saying to someone the other day that I'd like to get a TRB next. 😕
 6. On the Yamaha website they only seem to be producing one signature TRB, the John Patitucci 6 string. And if you browse the online stores many of the other models say discounted. Seems an awful shame if they have. EDIT. They might still be doing a 1005j
 7. Wasn't the bass in tune when you bought it? Sorry, old band joke I'd personally NOT buy a Korg clip on tuner. I've got one and it's absolute pants. The £5 non brand thing I bought for my son off Amazon is miles better. All seems a bit hit and miss tbh
 8.
Yeah it was excellent. I don't really dig the Foo's music, but I have great admiration for them as a band, and for Dave Grohl. They epitomise everything good about music and being in a band, with a very deep and genuine adoration of rock music and its history. He's a great ambassador, and one of the few torchbearers for good old honest rock music.
Spot on. Everybody seems to love Dave Grohl except Courtney Love...which is slightly ironic
 9.
My beef with some of the posts is that they are either subjective or totally off topic with respect to the original post, The main gist of the OP was: "I have a Barefaced Super 12T . It's a great sounding cab , But I can't stand the handles this is the 3rd time I've picked the cab up by the top handle and it has swung back and bashed me in the shines. I really don't think it needs those wheels" Almost alI the posts berating Barfaced have nothing to do with the palcement, or intended use of the top handle. I have seen posts of poor build quality but have only heard of one failed handle. As the handle was the starting point of the thread then that is on topic. Most of the other comments are not. Poor build quality would result in multiple failures but the handle failure is the first I have heard. I think many people confuse build quality with cosmetic appearance. Had any of the Barefaced cabinets had the problems of the same magnitude as the Ampeg PF500 amp (now on at least revision 7) , I could understand it but they don't. I do not like the look of the Ampeg Valve heads. i my opinion they are cosmetically very poor ( maybe they are just retro) gives no indication of the build quality or reliability. This has been a real bandwagon jumping session and the trouble is that different people are jumping on different wagons. What has the sound of the cabinet (a sound that many people like) or the look of the cabinet got to do with the placement (and misuse of) of one of the handles? Maybe if we all shut up Alex migh come on and chip in but to be honest, if I were him I would keep contact on a one to one basis with customers.
Totally agree with you.
 10.
I've never understood marketing based on where the product is made. The only sensible business strategy is to make it in the location that gives you the biggest profit. The myth that the US produces the best quality musical instruments was exploded in the 1970s by the Japanese, and the only way the myth can be maintained at all is by deliberately reducing the quality in non-US factories by using lower spec components and dropping quality control. And all that does is screw your brand. It might pander to xenophobia in certain parts of the US music fraternity, but I can't see why anyone in Europe would give a damn where their guitar is made.
Unfortunately for Fender you've hit the nail on the head. Their home US consumers fiercely believe US made is way beyond anything made anywhere else. The anti foreign made feeling is very strong, this is especially so for Asian manufactured equipment.
 11. If it were an unknown doing this then it would be ignored, completely ignored. Stick Bowie's name to it and all of a sudden it becomes interesting etc etc.
 12.
Can't comment on Devon too much, I get a nosebleed when I go over the Tamar.
I think you're exaggerating, the border guards keeping you Cornish out aren't that violent If you want a vibrant, diverse music scene DON'T move to North Devon . If you just want to listen to rock/punk covers or folk you'll be quids in. Better still if you like listening to spotty teenagers with an acoustic guitar doing continuous Ed Sheerean covers you'll be like a pig in muck. South Devon, and I'm only going by the number of musos putting out ads on places like JoinMyBand, is more active possibly. The major problem for Devon and Cornwall are their geography. Getting places can be a real pain as the roads can be a bit meh! There's a venue only about 20 miles from that I'd like to go to more often but it takes nearly an hour to get to it. The geography also puts off bands from outside the area...but there's also the lack of audience, people just don't go out much. If you've got a young family move, if you like you're music more, don't I can't comment on Cornwall, I try not to go there
 13. Well! I'm surprised, no, stunned...actually surprised and stunned and somewhat disappointed (actually that's something else, forget that) You do realise if you buy a Corvette people point and snigger and say "look at him with the funny horn! " , lots more sniggering. Email has not been forgotten by the way
 14.
Never mind, we can still produce world-beating cars like Aston Martin. After all, we're a G8 country, one of the richest in the world, so we're not held back by primitive production facilities. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RxihhTuTms Nothing like those Chinese car factories eh? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R46x6k2wieU
The Aston Martin video is somewhat dated, it was filmed 20 years ago. Aston moved all production from Newport Pagnell to their new facility at Gaydon some time ago. Newport Pagnell is a service and restoration centre now.
 15. I don't bother with open mics, most of them around my way are an acoustic fests so completely pointless for a bass player. Even then it's bands testing out material. There is one 'electric' open mic but it's quite cliquey, so much so it was rumoured it'd stop running as it was so poorly attended.
 16.
Both incredible musicians. Does Stevie play bass himself?
I read somewhere he does.
 17. They look great...what a stunning pair you have there I desperately need to get into a busy band so I can persuade Mrs Marvin I need to get a TKS cab.
 18. My last two cabs have had removable castors. I've never noticed any difference between when I left the castors in or removed them.
 19.
To the OP and BassTractor... I'm sorry but I really don't get the point of Dirty Loops. It seems to me to be "music" made solely for the purpose of impressing other musicians. Sure they've all got impressive technical skills on their instruments, but IMO the song should always come first over technique, and unfortunately in their case it doesn't. Their output appears to be overplayed covers of pop songs that mostly lose the elements that made those songs catchy and popular in the first place, and their own compositions are weak in comparison. What do they actually do when their not producing one of these faux "live in the studio" videos? Do they gig? Are they mostly busy playing with a bit more taste and restraint on other people's records - if so whose?
^ This
 20.
Thought of making the thread but it didn't even cross my mind to check the members. Crikey And thinking about perhaps a jack of some kind. I've been mulling over just building one myself, but can't see that going too well
Have you considered building one of Bill's Simplexx cabs? They look fairly straightforward.
 21.
I still use an HA3000 (I hate graphic equalisers ) as a backup. It's a battered old workhorse that's done thousands of gigs, but it works just fine for me.
I LOVE graphic equalisers...so much so I bought a separate one, and it's got lots of lovely lights on it and it looks reet perty
 22. Saw this on the Ibanez website. I'm not convinced to be honest...it also looks a bit clumsy design wise. http://www.ibanez.co.jp/products/eb_page14.php?year=2014&area_id=3&cat_id=2&series_id=66&data_id=271&color=CL01
 23.
I had a G15 100 a while back but moved it on sadly. I assume we're talking the blue cast frame one from the early '80s? They also did a 'spider' frame version too although I don't know the differences (if any?) between them. Both crop up on ebay from time-to-time.
So close . I'm not sure what frame it is, but I think he's going to have to trawl ebay and be patient.
If it were me, I'd get the spec/model of the chassis in the cab that your mate wants to match/emulate. Post that detail here, and hopefully the knowledge of the speaker guys will be able to suggest a match currently in production. My experience of Marshal cabs ...albeit it a long time ago, is that they wouldn't use a particular special driver so it shouldn't be too hard a job or too expensive
He wants to try and return in to all genuine drivers. There's nothing wrong with the one driver that isn't original, he just wants it to be as authentic as possible I suppose. Personally I'd bin it as I don't like the Dead Kennedy's
 24. Many on here like Hartke A LOT I used a 410XL in a rehearsal room. It was good, but I preferred the sound of my Ampeg 410 - it's a bit warmer and thicker. I think I might prefer the AK series they do. I'd certainly consider one there amps.
 25. Thanks. I thought it was going to be an ebay search. I'd done some searches myself but just wanted to check if there was any 'hidden' specialists Cheers
