1. If the constant grumbling about poor attendances at gigs are anything to go by, then the yuuf in this area are definitely not interested in music. Although to be fair gigs are basically a solo artist with an acoustic guitar having a whinge... which is why I don't go to gigs much either
2. I see that Stu Hamm frequents this particular Facebook group...and Brad Houser who was in Edie Brickell and The New Bohemians
3.
Oh dear you lot do realise your parents said all this when you were young! It was all fields around here, bag of chips was ten pence, waggon wheels were as big as your head etc etc etc
Wagon Wheels and Farleys Rusks are most definitely smaller! They were bigger than my hand when I was a kid. NOW! Pfft, barely the size of my palm.
4.
noted, but taking you seriously anyway, my pub crawls these days are always looking for business. I never drink in a pub that doesn't do live music, and I always look for an opportunity to chat up a landlord. That means I need access to the band's website, the pub's website, and Lemonrock - not to mention Google Maps. Five years ago it would never have occurred to me to take a notebook or a laptop to the pub with me. Now I never go out without one.
You cheap tart!
5. Cheers, thank you.
6. Pick up wise, in the standard marks I think it's only the Bartonlini pick ups and Ibanez's own that'll fit. A new set of Bartolini's will cost about £220...which if you own an SR300 is almost as much as the bass itself I'd look at a different pre amp.
7. One support slot several weeks ago... good gig, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Then I fell out with the guitarist and singer and quit the band. I feel somewhat vindicated as to my decision from feedback from others, but it still means no band at the moment. Not being in a band has freed up my summer...I suppose.
8. It seems incredibly difficult to find replacement pick ups. Because they're not p, j or mm it's nigh on impossible.
9. I really like The Faces and think they are very much over looked... Just wish I'd been old enough to see them at their peak
10.
I'm going to be bold and say that Yamaha make the best Precision basses.
I didn't see that coming The world might have just flipped on its axis, I'll just check
11. I questioned my want for 'better' gear recently when I borrowed the headline bands gear. Behringer amp and the most roadworn 112 I've seen . It sounded good and the band are booked to be on Jules Holland next year. Gear is a means of playing, doesn't matter what it is as long as it does the job
12.
Here's one for the stack fans.. Even Lady Bones stuck her head round the door and commented on how nice it sounded. Just to put this in perspective, when we visited the Bass Doc at New Year, the only thing she remembers was the fact that Howard had a pink Xmas cake. Everything else just passed her by. I couldn't remember Howard even had a Xmas cake, let alone what colour it was.
Nice. Like the Purple Chilli cab as well...lurvley.
13.
I was on the BIMM Summer School in Bristol this week as the only bass player and I was lucky enough to have a two hour one to one with Yolanda who helped me learn a song for the afternoon, suggested some learning techniques for 16ths and dead notes and writing out song structures , got her Dimension out to demonstrate, watched me play in 3 Bands in the afternoon , jumped on stage to play with the others and said she liked my attitude to Bass and learning. She even bit off some of her nails so she could demonstrate on her bass. A lovely gracious lady with awesome chops.
I'm deeply envious. Sounds fantastic
14.
i feel like the middle man at my own crap party, just waiting for me other mates. Online scrabble.?
Xylophone on a triple word score and a load of other bonus bits and bobs...I think I win
15. Pino, all day long...
16.
Sooner or later it will descend into "my dad is bigger than yours!"
Mine isn't, he's only 5'7"...
17.
thinking a little more about this. I don't think anyone has the right to throw someones property about least of all if the owner paid to come and see the band/person etc. Tin hat is getting dusted off as we speak. If no one had bought PF albums all those years ago, he might be playing in the 'Fox and Hound' tonight and pleased that someone turned up with or without a camera.
Buying someone's album doesn't give one the right to be an obnoxious, ignorant, rude plank...as was the case at the Peter Frampton gig. Perhaps Peter Frampton would have been better to take the phone and give it to a person at the side of the stage, however, his reactions seem very understandable given the account given in that the person in the crowd had been repeatedly appealed to to desist.
18.
More generally, a lot of people seem to have problems living in the moment. Regret about the past is guilt, and apprehension about the future is worry... in fact, both are pointless exercises as there is only 'now'. Man.
That's a bit philosophical for a Thursday...
19. The Jack Cassidy, if you can get one in your budget.
20.
I certainly found it very easy to go from a pic to fingers and am pleased to be able to do both. *Smug git*
Do you slap as well?
21. I've got a Boss GT-6B and it's a lovely bit of kit to have. The fx are very good. I found it particularly useful a few weeks ago when I used a headline bass players rig. I didn't touch his settings, just bypassed his pre amp and just used the power section using the Boss as my pre... worked a treat.
22. For £100, you just can't go wrong. I want One
23.
Could be up for this too if I'm not gigging
What about a B&Q car park on the outskirts of Plymouth? Exeter or thereabouts would be ideal.
24. I can't play with a pick to save my life...I'm absolutely rubbish with a pick.
25. I've had a few Behringer bits of kit and it's been fine...I quite like them actually, as much as any other. I played through an Behringer Ultrabass head the other week and was really happy with the sound I got.
