1. I massively overplayed then end of Come Together the other weekend...but I defend myself on the grounds there was a lot of space to fill Sometimes I think there are instances where instruments overlap and what we thought was a bass not was actually the guitar, or, like in guitar parts it's difficult to distinguish which guitar is doing what...if that makes sense...it doesn't does it...I'll leave
2. I used Behringer head through an unknown cab the other week, sounded perfectly fine. I've also got one of their real eq units, it does its job
3. I'd have needed a near set full of gags... tuning took so long people thought we were packing up.
4. The attitude of this particular person is 'I'll play when I'm in tune however long that takes'.
5. ... and tuning again when taking the capo back off! I've never seen anyone do this before and it's creating huge gaps between the songs it effects. I'm personally of the opinion that gaps between songs should be at a minimum in all respects. Tuning should almost go unnoticed by an audience, they want to hear music. ?
6. Turning up is always an advantage if you want to stay in the band..shoddy attendance tends to be frowned upon...
7. All 3. No point in just having rhythm if you don't know what to do with it...may as well become a drummer
8.
Have you actually seen your current avatar..?
Point taken
9. I'm currently using my amp as a power amp, currently I can't afford to replace it. I use a rack mount compressor, rack eq unit and a multi fx pedal to sort my sound out. If I change anything it'll be the amp and I'll go down the power amp route.
10. Good grief I think I've got arc-eye NO, NO, NO
11. I'm watching highlights of the Pixies T in the Park performance. Paz Lenchantin was spot on. Great sound and tone... p bass and an Ampeg stack, lovely.

I don't know why people get so up tight as to how people choose to 'read' music. The constant bemoaning and sneering is nothing short of snobbery and arrogance. I've had the most fun in music I've had in ages over the last 18 months...in the main from dropping this nagging fear that I wasn't a good bass player because I can't read and I don't know x,y and z. Sometimes I'll play something and I've not the faintest idea why it works, but to be honest I really don't care. I'm not going to bother learning to read for a few reasons. No one I'm in bands with reads. The music I play isn't written in standard notation and I don't want to do the gigs that would require me to do so. LEAVE PEOPLE ALONE.
13.
When I make a mistake, I don't punish myself over it. That's the current mrs discreet's job. No-one sprang fully-formed from a riven oak one stormy night and was immediately able to play bass flawlessly, all the time. The road to great bass playing is paved with mistakes, self-doubt and lots and lots of practice. Well I assume it is, anyway...
Nice, very literary...
14. Gear, guitarists are more catered for so hence easier to find and buy. In a band context, the two guitarists (and all the previous ones) seem to have a huge list of problems re: their sound...that goes for the ones with relatively little gear and conversely the ones who need an articulated wagon to get to gigs they've got so much. Fine example was Saturday evening. I tip up, plug into the other/main band's bass player's rig, I will admit I was apprehensive as it looked a little shoddy...but no problems, didn't even change any of the knobs (oooer). Guitarists turn up, have to use their own gear, pedals and a mass of paraphernalia (although in all fairness the drummer is the same ).
15. From Saturday. This was the first gig for the covers band I'm in now. We did a support slot in a small pub for a band that will be on Jools Holland next year and, having had to turn down Glastonbury this year will be playing there next. I was chuffed when I found out we'd be doing this gig, the guys in the main band were in the bands I used to go and see locally all the time, great bunch of guys. Anyway, our set, 45mins, went down really well. No major balls ups, a few fluffs but nothing to hang yourself over. We had some very positive comments, got paid and the landlord will book us again...result!! I borrowed the other bass player's rig. My initial apprehension was totally misplaced. He uses a Behringer Ultrabass 450w through the most road worn, scuffed and scared 1x12 (of unknown make) I've seen. I thought it would sound awful and be struggling to make it heard. How wrong was I!! It sounded really tight and my word was it loud enough. The other bass player plays a Squier Affinity P bass...probably the least expensive set up I've seen The main band really rocked, the crowd loved it. Excellent night all round...especially as the Mrs and I won the charity fundraising raffle, a meal for two in the place, it does really good Thai food.
16.
All this for a set of strings..??
...that you can buy on Amazon for about £10.

18.
I've just re-watched the Glastonbury footage. It's definitely Paz. I didn't recognise her.
Why the ?
19. There's nothing anywhere else to suggest it's not Paz Lenchantin... and if it's a slim women with dark hair, it's probably Paz
20.
+1. Good customer service is all-important. It's not rocket surgery.
You are Rich Hall, I claim my £5
21. Voodoo Six payed the Wolverhampton gig as well. I'd not heard of them before but was mighty impressed. The dogs were the dogs do dahs No Mr Big material but they did play Shy Boy... incredibly fast, it must be said.
22. I got to the Wolverhampton show, despite the best efforts of my guitarist who drove us there to get lost (a lesson there, never follow a guitarist :/). I thoroughly enjoyed it, a great show. It's the first time I've ever seen Sheehan play. It's one thing to see him on a YouTube clip, something else to see him play in the flesh. Awesome. And Kotzen, what a guy.
23. The 3D image almost throbs... , I shouldn't have said that.
24. Anyone going to be at the Wolverhampton gig tomorrow?
25.
Don't worry, it's out of date. That graph's from 2005.
That actually makes it worse , or do I mean
