1.
Basschat is just a bit of light relief for me. I get my daily reality hit by planning for a post-oil society.
Thanks for that, I was having a rare good day
2. I think a 4ohm 210 from Barefaced will generate a lot of interest, especially at that price.
3. Have you lot been sneaking a peak at my bands set list
4. It's more an exercise to gauge the opinion of people who are in bands ( or take music seriously) regards the song.
5.
Doesn't do a lot for me, but then again 99% of the music that gets mentioned on Basschat doesn't do anything for me either.
I'll count that as a bad
6. What's Basschat's view on this ditty? I was in my teens when it was released and thought it thoroughly uncool
7.
You sure that's not Mrs Marvin's dentures..?
She usually keeps them in a glass in the bathroom when she's at home
8. Like Discreet says, try a different room. My amp and cab make a very quiet clicking noise if I plug it in in the dinning room, doesn't do it anywhere else.
9. When I joined my current band I suggested a private Facebook page, all ideas are posted on there usually with the relevant you tube link. I personally then have a You Tube pay list to learn the songs, I don't know what other band mates do. It all seems to work.
10. SR500, the way to go
11.
Did Metallica's Trujillo get his burnt Fender Jazz from that idiot who sells those unique, one-of-a-kind, tastefully reliced basses on eBay? I lasted roughly two songs into their set before I gave up as it sounded a bit weedy to me and I couldn't stand having to look at all the grinning fans standing behind them...
I thought it was just me, but I was of the same opinion...where was the HEAVY sound? And what was with the crowd of 'people' swaying and bouncing at the back of the stage? Put them in front of the band and put big amps and cabs in their place ffs!! Actually, I've tried and tried to listen to Metallica on numerous occasions but find them really dull, they bore me rigid. I turned over and watched Van Helsing on Channel 4 instead (not a brilliant film but it has got Kate Beckinsale in knee length boots in it , and the wife likes the look of that Hugh wots his face chap...winner all round) EDIT: I did watch a bit of the Bryan Ferry set, and of all the snippets I watched Guy Pratt was the only bass player I could hear. :/
12. Cheers Skank, extremely helpful
13. I'm asking on behalf of the 'new' guitarist in our band. Someone local to us is selling an Orange Tiny Terror head, the all valve 15w thingys. Our lead guitarist said that it's not big enough for gigging and that she needs a 100w amp. How loud are these little TT's? We're not a loud band, our drummer has to be told to give it some more wellie sometimes . It wouldn't be put through the PA, we play mainly pubs and clubs. I thought it would be plenty loud enough? Please
14. As long as the world doesn't throw a wobbly at me, fingers crossed, I should be going to the Wolverhampton show.
15.
I've never understood how he can play how he does buy playing with his fingers
Weird innit. In an interview I saw he said he plays finger style after having a particularly meh gig and wanted to set himself the challenge. Great all round musician in my book.
16. I'm very disappointed. If I were a guitarist I'd get a PRS, I think they look and sound great. The basses look very uninspiring though
17.
Am agreeing with discreet!
Please don't encourage him
18. It's music day every day in this house
19. Thank you for your help. The band are going to go for the SRMs Cheers
20. Just a quicky, oooer Is there much difference in sound quality between these two active PA cabs? The Thumps work out about £250 cheaper that's all. The practice room we use have the SRM's and we like them, however, are they worth that much more than the Thumps? Thanks
21. Cheers all We've dissuaded our guitarist on buying these, we're now onto something very different
22. Thanks. I must be honest I'm very uncertain that it'll be up to the job.
23. The guitarist in the band I'm in is considering getting one of these. It'll just be for vocal, maybe some acoustic guitar and he's got a synth module that he controls via a foot pedal that he uses occasionally. The bass drum won't be going through it, neither will I The band itself is a standard covers band - drum, bass, 2 guitars and vocals. We don't play loud. Venues around my way are small with the odd medium sized place. Just wondered if anyone uses one, or has used one and what they thought.
