1. Gear, guitarists are more catered for so hence easier to find and buy. In a band context, the two guitarists (and all the previous ones) seem to have a huge list of problems re: their sound...that goes for the ones with relatively little gear and conversely the ones who need an articulated wagon to get to gigs they've got so much. Fine example was Saturday evening. I tip up, plug into the other/main band's bass player's rig, I will admit I was apprehensive as it looked a little shoddy...but no problems, didn't even change any of the knobs (oooer). Guitarists turn up, have to use their own gear, pedals and a mass of paraphernalia (although in all fairness the drummer is the same ).
2. From Saturday. This was the first gig for the covers band I'm in now. We did a support slot in a small pub for a band that will be on Jools Holland next year and, having had to turn down Glastonbury this year will be playing there next. I was chuffed when I found out we'd be doing this gig, the guys in the main band were in the bands I used to go and see locally all the time, great bunch of guys. Anyway, our set, 45mins, went down really well. No major balls ups, a few fluffs but nothing to hang yourself over. We had some very positive comments, got paid and the landlord will book us again...result!! I borrowed the other bass player's rig. My initial apprehension was totally misplaced. He uses a Behringer Ultrabass 450w through the most road worn, scuffed and scared 1x12 (of unknown make) I've seen. I thought it would sound awful and be struggling to make it heard. How wrong was I!! It sounded really tight and my word was it loud enough. The other bass player plays a Squier Affinity P bass...probably the least expensive set up I've seen The main band really rocked, the crowd loved it. Excellent night all round...especially as the Mrs and I won the charity fundraising raffle, a meal for two in the place, it does really good Thai food.

If I had a roadie, I'd have one
5.
I've just re-watched the Glastonbury footage. It's definitely Paz. I didn't recognise her.
Why the ?
6. There's nothing anywhere else to suggest it's not Paz Lenchantin... and if it's a slim women with dark hair, it's probably Paz
7.
+1. Good customer service is all-important. It's not rocket surgery.
You are Rich Hall, I claim my £5
8. Voodoo Six payed the Wolverhampton gig as well. I'd not heard of them before but was mighty impressed. The dogs were the dogs do dahs No Mr Big material but they did play Shy Boy... incredibly fast, it must be said.
9. I got to the Wolverhampton show, despite the best efforts of my guitarist who drove us there to get lost (a lesson there, never follow a guitarist :/). I thoroughly enjoyed it, a great show. It's the first time I've ever seen Sheehan play. It's one thing to see him on a YouTube clip, something else to see him play in the flesh. Awesome. And Kotzen, what a guy.
10. The 3D image almost throbs... , I shouldn't have said that.
11. Anyone going to be at the Wolverhampton gig tomorrow?
12.
Don't worry, it's out of date. That graph's from 2005.
That actually makes it worse , or do I mean
13.
Basschat is just a bit of light relief for me. I get my daily reality hit by planning for a post-oil society.
Thanks for that, I was having a rare good day
14. I think a 4ohm 210 from Barefaced will generate a lot of interest, especially at that price.
15. Have you lot been sneaking a peak at my bands set list
16. It's more an exercise to gauge the opinion of people who are in bands ( or take music seriously) regards the song.
17.
Doesn't do a lot for me, but then again 99% of the music that gets mentioned on Basschat doesn't do anything for me either.
I'll count that as a bad
18. What's Basschat's view on this ditty? I was in my teens when it was released and thought it thoroughly uncool
19. Cool as
20.
You sure that's not Mrs Marvin's dentures..?
She usually keeps them in a glass in the bathroom when she's at home
21. Like Discreet says, try a different room. My amp and cab make a very quiet clicking noise if I plug it in in the dinning room, doesn't do it anywhere else.
22. When I joined my current band I suggested a private Facebook page, all ideas are posted on there usually with the relevant you tube link. I personally then have a You Tube pay list to learn the songs, I don't know what other band mates do. It all seems to work.
23. SR500, the way to go
24.
Did Metallica's Trujillo get his burnt Fender Jazz from that idiot who sells those unique, one-of-a-kind, tastefully reliced basses on eBay? I lasted roughly two songs into their set before I gave up as it sounded a bit weedy to me and I couldn't stand having to look at all the grinning fans standing behind them...
I thought it was just me, but I was of the same opinion...where was the HEAVY sound? And what was with the crowd of 'people' swaying and bouncing at the back of the stage? Put them in front of the band and put big amps and cabs in their place ffs!! Actually, I've tried and tried to listen to Metallica on numerous occasions but find them really dull, they bore me rigid. I turned over and watched Van Helsing on Channel 4 instead (not a brilliant film but it has got Kate Beckinsale in knee length boots in it , and the wife likes the look of that Hugh wots his face chap...winner all round) EDIT: I did watch a bit of the Bryan Ferry set, and of all the snippets I watched Guy Pratt was the only bass player I could hear. :/
25. Cheers Skank, extremely helpful
