I'm asking on behalf of the 'new' guitarist in our band. Someone local to us is selling an Orange Tiny Terror head, the all valve 15w thingys. Our lead guitarist said that it's not big enough for gigging and that she needs a 100w amp. How loud are these little TT's? We're not a loud band, our drummer has to be told to give it some more wellie sometimes . It wouldn't be put through the PA, we play mainly pubs and clubs. I thought it would be plenty loud enough? Please

As long as the world doesn't throw a wobbly at me, fingers crossed, I should be going to the Wolverhampton show.

I'm very disappointed. If I were a guitarist I'd get a PRS, I think they look and sound great. The basses look very uninspiring though

Just a quicky, oooer Is there much difference in sound quality between these two active PA cabs? The Thumps work out about £250 cheaper that's all. The practice room we use have the SRM's and we like them, however, are they worth that much more than the Thumps? Thanks

The guitarist in the band I'm in is considering getting one of these. It'll just be for vocal, maybe some acoustic guitar and he's got a synth module that he controls via a foot pedal that he uses occasionally. The bass drum won't be going through it, neither will I The band itself is a standard covers band - drum, bass, 2 guitars and vocals. We don't play loud. Venues around my way are small with the odd medium sized place. Just wondered if anyone uses one, or has used one and what they thought. It's exactly this sort of audience behaviour that's devaluing live music. It should be frowned upon and the interloper banned from all future live events.

[/quote] It's a problem because in most instances the guitarist has very little leeway to turn down their volume. In my experience they barely nudge it off of 0 on the master and it becomes insanely loud, hence they only have two volumes - one is where they make ears bleed, the other is complete silence. Surely it would be better to run gear which they could have more control over.

I just said all those other watts, he had left to use, were a bit of a waste of time then, weren't they really

I've used GAK for things like cases and they were fine. Used Dolphin and Gear 4 Music for a bass and combo respectively and again fine. Most of the online stores seem pretty good, as with any retailer though there always seems to be times when something goes awry.

Our drummer posed the same question a few weeks ago. She thought we needed a PRS licence ,as when she was looking for venues for her wedding, one place told her a live band would need a licence. Clearly the venue wasn't licenced so even a disco would have problems. Venue should be licenced.
