1. I've looked into building a fEARFUL cab, and when I worked out the cost it simply didn't make sense. It cost a slight bit more than buying a premium brand cab second hand (with similar spec). I personally think the big plus of the BFM cabs is that they are designed to be able to take drivers at different price points. Hence it's easier to budget. The big problem in the UK is the price and availability of parts
2. Spend a lot more money on very expensive gear as this is the only way to become a better player IMO. Speak out more in my bands, I tend to just go with the flow which makes me frustrated with where things go. But hy the same token be more committed to tge band I'm in rather than a bit of a band whore. ...and learn to type better on this tablet
3. I didn't make it to the opening credits, I'd been experimenting with Cider and Whiskey...I can't remember the results. Anything on Jool's show must have been a million times better than that Gary Barlow on beeb 1?
4. I play my Ibanez and Yamaha because they feel the most comfortable and nothing to do with on board electronics. Actually, I run the EQ on my basses flat and use the EQ controls on my amp for that side if things. It's not that I can't play the Pbass I have it just doesn't feel as comfortable to play.
5. They had candy apple red one in Mansons a few months ago. I couldn't stay and had to leave the shop for uncontrollable dribbling
6. I'd go for the P bass every day, just don't like anything about Stingrays.
7. In Yamaha TRBX504 Ampeg B410hlf Out Fendet 350 Rumble combo Zoom B2.1ut
8. I got greeted with a nice rack...case A 4U rack case to be precise Very happy
9. Massive thanks to Bluecaster/Mick for his generosity.

Rack Equalisers

I like my GK head but would like a little more control over my EQ. I'd rather not have a pedal. I've been browsing but most rack mount EQs are stereo/dual channel or 31 band mono. Dual channel seems to be wasteful of an unused channel and 31 band a tad excessive? Always limited budget , any advice etc would be greatfully received, thanks.
11.
Yes, in a I'm Jaco sort of way, but not in a blood spattered Sid Vicious way.
Nothing cool about not actually being able to play the bass hung around your neck though
12. I tend to avoid using IE for basschat, I get all sorts of typing weirdisms.
13.
I'm more interested in the sound of four G strings being twanged.
A tone much akin to being slapped in the face I should imagine...
14. The impression I got was that Kim Deal left because she couldn't commit to the touring the others wanted to do. I'd say Paz Lenchantin is a very different bass player to the two Kims... and very attractive. Not the sort of bass player you'd expect to see or hear in The Pixies.
15. I'm a bit OCD and must have the same strings on my basses. My p bass is currently strung with 4 E strings, the Yamaha with 4 A's and the Ibanez with 4 D's... It does mean I now have 4 G strings though
16.
If you can bear to use eaby. 17.
Sounds promising. Good luck!
cheers
18. I've never seen BNH live but think Levy is a great bass player. I'm often surprised by how overlooked he is.
19.
19-inch rack blanking panels are widely available online in various 'U' sizes and will have the required rack-mounting screw-holes already punched out. It would be fairly easy to cut one of these in half and then bend each piece as required for the width of the amp. Drill the necessary amp-mounting holes and the job's a good'un. Try not to get a too high-quality blanking panel as these may be rather thick and not easy to cleanly bend without a sheet metal press. Alternatively, search for a metal fabrication business in a local industrial estate and pop along with the two pieces of panel with the required line of the bend clearly marked. Ask nicely and you'll probably find they'll make a nice sharp bend for you for nothing, but give them a fiver anyway. If you have marked the required drill holes they'll probably do that for you as well. This sort of approach works best with very small companies rather than the bigger ones. Basically, you need the sort of place where you can walk directly into the workshop, not a carpeted office with the workshop out the back.
I hadn't thought of that, I know just the chap. Thank you
20. I've never used the tweeters on my cabs, I've never found it necessary. There is plenty if 'top' in my current cab without turning the tweeter on. Actually, I've never liked using tweeters in or out of the mix, I just think the sound losses it's punch.
21.
Even more bizarrely the 2nd band regularly re-tweet stuff from the first band - really very odd indeed!
All sounds a bit creepy to be honest.
22. I want to put my GK Backline600 in a rack. Are there any alternatives to buying the genuine GKb rack ears? Maybe some sort of universal fitting? The genuine GK ears are £40, which seems quite a bit for some bent steel with some holes drilled in them. Cheers
23. I seriously thought about an LH but the mid scoop bias would be no good for me. My sound is so mid heavy it'd more appropriate to get one of the HA range. Wotten uses the hydrive range I think.
24.
Confusion, confusion!!
The thread is about barefaced, the Simplexx cabs are designed by Bill Fitzmaurice and are nothing to do with barefaced. I wasn't sure why you referenced the Simplexx...
