  1. Here's the back of the pickup, it isn't potted but then again, most vintage style pickups aren't to my knowledge? Certainly worth some further investigation though 👍🏻
  2. I have a large box and lots of decent packaging, £375 posted to your door.
  3. Thanks chaps, I'll persist with this as I really want to gig it when BoJo lets me.
  4. It's funny you mentioned that, I tried it earlier and it didn't make much difference. It's quite odd, it almost seems like the whole bass is "live", if I tap the body anywhere it comes out of the amp. I removed the pickup to see if there's was anything amiss but all the joints seem okay. I was impressed by the countersunk threads in the body for the pickup screws. Nicer than the self tappers you get on a four grand bass from the Custom Shop 😁
  5. I recently picked up this Westone Spectrum out of curiosity. Westone seem to have a loyal following with lots of people suggesting they punch way above their weight. To be honest I didn't have massively high expectations, but wow what a bass! The build quality is amazing and it feels really solid, despite only weighing 3.7kg. The tuners look like Gotohs and are really substantial, the painted neck is silky smooth and a joy to play. The two most notable elements for me however are that it sounds amazing acoustically, really resonant and punchy, and secondly is that it almost plays itself. Seriously top notch playability. I always spend ages tweaking the action of a new bass to get it how I like it, but this was totally gig-able straight out of the box! The only two negatives for me are that the standard bridge has really long grub screws on the saddles which I found to be a hindrance as I like to palm mute a fair bit. This was easily rectified by throwing a Wilkinson bridge on, which fitted perfectly. The second, and the reason for this thread, is that when I play over the pickup the sound of my fingers hitting the pickup cover can be heard through my amp. Any ideas how to get around this? I can't imagine there's a drop in replacement as it's a bit of a mad design...
  6. Thanks for the info, i agree it's a heck of a bargain!
  7. And excellent demo of a very similar bass -
  8. This lovely old Moon is back up for grabs. Now £750 👌🏻
  9. It's in excellent condition mate, no blemishes to speak of. I've had a quick run up and down the neck and there aren't any dead spots 👍🏻
  10. A hell of a lot of bass for the money 👌🏻
  11. It really is a versatile bit of kit. It's now boxed up and ready to go, I can include delivery to your door in the asking price 👍🏻
  12. Thanks mate, that's good to hear 👍🏻
  13. As Andy said, it’s definitely not an Instinct as they had solid finishes and no angled headstock. The Instincts were also built in China I believe, this was built in Czech. This is a P model so obviously wouldn’t have twin J pickups and a preamp. Interestingly I removed the neck to adjust the truss rod when I got it (you only actually have to remove the scratch plate), and it’s stamped “P1”, so could well be the first P model made. I’ll see if I can get some more info from Ashdown.
  14. Indeed, perhaps not one for the traditionalists. Although saying that, it's essentially a 24 fret P bass!
  15. Lodestone P Artist bass up for grabs. This bass was the premium model in the Lodestone range. I've heard various reports of these retailing between £1400 and £2k new! It's a very well put together bass with a gorgeous poplar burl top and deep trans black gloss finish. The neck is somewhere between a P and J in width and has a great feeling Musicman-esque olied finish. It features the Status designed (I think) swept back headstock which is smaller in the flesh than I thought it would be. I've attached a photo next to my Jag for comparison. It's equipped with a punchy sounding EMG pickup, a high mass bridge and lightweight Gotoh tuners. It weighs 3.9kg/8.6lb and is well balanced on the strap. It doesn't have a case but I can package well if postage is required.
