  1. Excellent, I love the bass sound on that album! I had to go and check the release date and I was relieved to find out it was actually released in 1998 👍
  2. Maybe because two of your fave bassists play one? 😁 Or because you need solid old school bass tone wrapped up in an iconic design that weighs as much as a bag of Wotsits?
  3. He did, and that's a great reference for these being used in a non-beatles situation 👍
  4. A few shots from when I restrung this recently. Rotosound Nickels for the matching blue silks 😁 Note the top drawer control cavity, CTS pots, Orange Drop capacitor, shielded etc. Also no unsightly routes under the pick guard! I'm open to offers on this, I have FAR too many basses at the moment.
  5. Thanks for the comments, chaps. I think it's worth noting that these older G&L basses seem to be a cut above the modern "Standard" and "Deluxe" models offered by G&L. I played a few examples in Guitar Guitar in Camden a couple of years ago and was not very impressed. The finishing and attention to detail were nowhere near as good as this JB2.
  6. Now £695! 2003 G&L USA JB2 in trans vintage white finish with vintage gloss finished maple neck. This bass is lightweight (8.4lb) and sounds thick and punchy with the Nordstrand NJ4SV pickups. These are classically voiced split coil hum cancelling pickups that retain the quintessential Jazz bass tone while eliminating single coil hum! It has been well gigged and has signs of general wear and tear, with some buckle rash on the back and a dink on the underside of the lower horn, but is in good condition overall. It comes with the original G&L Flightcase.
  7. I recently sold a bass to Lee and it was a pleasure. Great comms, fast payment, zero dramas. Great Basschatter 👍
  8. 1987 German Hofner 500/1 up for grabs. It has a glorious nitro finish which has various signs of use, cracks and grazing (especially on the back of the neck) but feels and looks awesome. It had a very high action when I received it due to the Hofner "feature" of the ebony bridge being too high, and only effectively allowing you to raise the action even further! With it being a vintage bass I didn't want to modify the original bridge, so I sourced a brand new original Hofner bridge assembly and had it professionally milled down to allow a much lower action. The result is the easiest playing Hofner I've ever encountered! Note the original bridge is included in the sale, along with the correct truss rod tool and the original Hofner flight case. It's strung with a lovely set of Pyramid Gold flats, as is right and proper. It sounds wonderful.
  9. Thanks guys, it's a bit of a mystery why this is still here 🤔
