Well, I didn't feel like doing the work, just exchanged this bass for a Squier Precision that I then sold
-
I would've rewired mine if it wasn't potted in some kind of hard goop (epoxy?)

There was a bassist who subbed for me in a big band I’ve been playing with sometime back, he had this bass. It sounded fabulous (granted, this guy could play too)

These are great

If I ever get in a fast punk band again, I’d get a longorn. Nothing that could rival it in pick&distortion realm. -
Good choice

I had the Affinity H. I suggest trying before you buy, the pickup is very bassy, not much high end in it. Also some neck dive.

Yeah, I use Fender Flats on everything when I need flats. They can be cut to shorter scale just fine too - people say it will destroy the flatwound strings but I've done this since 30+ years, never had any problem. I have one of the basses strung with a shortened 9050 ML set since 2005 and these strings will live longer than I will. -

You don't have to keep the same sizes, anything will work just fine -

In the meantime, my Guild Starfire is 1 year old now. This bass has been perfect so far: great finish, fretwork, electronics, comfort and sound! can’t think of anything to upgrade, apart from probably its thin plastic volume and tone knobs the photo is from 1 year ago just out of the box -
stripboards make the circuit understanding more difficult most of the time because of the weird routing imposed by the parallel strips.

I’m very pleased with the result indeed, it looks much more upscale this way and plays great. -

Not sure about cheaper woods: mine had an ash body! -
Yes but they didn't manage to align the strings to at least have the same distance between them

So rare so even the picture isn't available

This is totally an EB3 or Hofner size pickup, not designed for Fender long scale
-
Look at the bridge, the string placement is ridiculous and this is their official marketing photo!!!

You know, they moved the bridges just for the videos and then moved them back 😝 -

Series/parallel PBASS tone question

Well, this is a personal opinion but none of the parallel options sounded well according to my ears
