  1. And there we have it...as I thought!
  2. Multiple notes played at the same time. Or, if your word wasn’t a typo, then fear of multiple notes being played at the same time, lol
  3. I have a feeling that playing a polyphonic instrument makes a big difference here. I have only relatively recently started a little piano (helping my daughter with her lessons), and notice that increasing familiarity seems to make a difference to my ear. Little as I want to say it, I think bass players are at a disadvantage, and probably need to learn some piano, or perhaps guitar.
  4. Just sold Hugh a Hipshot bridge. Painless transaction and good comms. Deal with in good confidence! Pete
  5. I meant to say, I did the first ear training exercise 20 mins a day for about 6 months, and it worked. The second exercise is relatively straightforward after the first. The real challenge of the first ear training exercise is getting it above one note. I started two notes simultaneously, but did not persist that well with it, I ended up doing other things. Many Banacos students have made it much further, 7-8 not untypical I think and I have heard tell on the Banacos FB group of ?11.
  6. Charlie Banacos, one of the greatest jazz educators that most people haven’t heard of, had some great exercises for ear training. (He trained Jerry Bergonzi, Mike Stern, Jeff Berlin, Joe Hubbard, and a billion other greats). When I was explaining them to folks on Scott’s Bass Lessons years ago, I made some simple (now very dated) YouTube videos on them. They’re not the end, but they’re a solid beginning. His methods are also gone into by a former student in an excellent and very interesting dissertation.
  7. Hi all I had the measurements incorrect for the first time around I sold this. Thankfully I had a patient buyer who returned it safely! Lightly used. 2014 model. It will accommodate changes in size from 32.5" - 41", the padding is 3.5" wide at the widest part. £20 posted in the UK is pretty competitive, nearly had my hand bit off last time, lol. Pete
  8. Hello all Up for sale is a genuine MIM Fender Precision neck with tuners. Taken off my 60th Anniversary MIM Fender Precision. It's a lovely maple neck with a nice piece of rosewood. By and large, I prefer maple fretboards to rosewood, and Jazz necks to Precisions, so I replaced this neck with a Fender roasted maple Jazz neck. Frets are good, the nut appears to be bone and is well cut, the neck is straight and the truss rod works. It's in excellent condition. With the tuners, it weighs 1.106kg. The nut is 41.3mm width (as near as I can measure), and it's a standard Fender neck heel, I think which should fit any Fender? It was 63.1mm at the neck heel after I measured a few times. No idea what the standard Fender neck heel is precisely, but that's about what I got it at with my digital caliper. I'll put it up at a competitive price - £300 plus postage £250 plus postage in the UK. Pete
  9. Morning all Bought this secondhand to footer with and found that I didn't really need it. Never got around to using it....! It's in excellent condition. Blurb from the manufacturer is here - https://gruvgear.com/products/duostrap-neo Let's call it £50 posted in the UK. Happy for Paypal or bank transfer. Pete
  10. Morning all Here's a rarity form my parts box. It's a chrome Hipshot Vintage bridge, but not as you know it - 17mm spacing, not available anywhere I can see now. Only 18, 19, and 20mm. I had this on a medium scale Jazz bass years ago, worked beautifully, but I sold the bass. Probably would suit short or medium scale basses well. I fitted it to my standard 34" Jazz bass for a while as an experiment, fit perfectly, but a little too narrow a spacing for me. Here's the manufacturers blurb - https://hipshotproducts.com/products/4-string-vintage-bass-bridge It comes with the screws and allen key to adjust the saddles. Let's call it £45 posted in the UK. Pete
  11. Smoking bass! I would say that though, lol. GLWTS
  12. Lol, I see where you are coming from. F natural minor is 1, 2, b3, 4, 5, b6, b7 This gives Fm7, Gm7b5, Abmaj7, Bbm7, Cm7, Dbmaj7, Eb7 It is, I guess, enharmonically ok to call the sixth chord, Dbmaj7, a C#maj7, but as you imply, it’s not in the key signature (4 flats). Apologies for the digression... @ped The pickups are indeed humbuckers. Very low impedance, so plenty of top end, but they do not have a big output, and so need the preamp to boost the signal. No active/passive switch possible here...

Just sold a Mono strap to Alan. Painless transaction, can deal with in good confidence! Pete
  14. No, I think he still makes occasional ones for himself, and sells them as he makes them. Or so I hear, anyway...probably single figure amounts in a year. I think he made 500 or so in total when he was active.
  15. Well worth it @LukeFRC. The best Jazz shape in my opinion, and the Precision (PJ) I have is brilliant as well. Christian’s work is great.
