  1. Also. Put me down for a flat pack kit as well. If that wasn’t obvious already...
  2. Another tiny weight saving idea. Maybe... Could be tricky for doing at home, but with a grill, it could perhaps be bent at the edges so that it acts as its own stand-off from the front baffle? Then no wood/foam etc is required on the front baffle to screw the grill in to?
  3. Nailed it Stevie re: handles. I have found it much easier to handle cabs with a large inset/flush mounted handle in general, as well as it being easier to stick an amp on top. The worst cab I tried to move with one of those leather type handles currently on your cab was the Bergantino IP112ER. It weighed 50 lbs and the handle clearly couldn’t hack it - had to be replaced because it had broken down from use - and it was a pig to move around with that little skinny thing. I love the idea of rolling our own cab with better components than anything out there. £330ish and labour for a top end cab is a sweet deal.
  4. How much internal volume is lost if fitting a handle that is inset? A la the Bergantino CN112?
  5. It’s great work Stevie. This medium doesn’t allow much nuance...I’m just interested that you and Alex have come to not dissimilar results, though the means differ in a few respects. How much would it cost to make one of these? (I’m interested but would have to probably pay someone to do it for me.)
  6. Beautiful work. At the risk of being a tiny bit inflammatory...have you essentially made something pretty close to a Barefaced BB2?...although I have no idea how your compression driver compares. The weight is amazing.
  7. Fair enough. The usual problem of engineering then. Lol
  8. There’s a lot of variables there. Including different rooms...which is a big deal...if you had tried all of these out in the same room you might have been able to make easier comparisons. But each rig in a different room (apart from the Ashdowns)...you’re going to struggle to make generalisations.
  9. A quick thought. Is there a reason more cabs are not made out of aluminium, like the GK MB150 combo?
  10. Fascinating. Just caught this thread. Stellar work here Stevie, Phil, and John 👍 I’d be very interested in a box that does it all...not great at the old DIY though. I’ve often thought the ideal cab would be loud enough to cope with a drummer, have a decent bass output (the significant 50Hz range output of the Thunderchild, Fearless F112, and the AER Amp One have become my standards of measurement here), be full range (the BF BB2 has the sweetest top end I have ever heard out of a bass cab to date), and weigh about 30 lbs. Ideally it would be a combo as well. With DSP tweakery to maximise the benefits of the carefully designed system. Lol... Closest I’ve ever seen to date is the MB Alain Caron high end combo. Never heard one in the flesh though. I’m very interested to hear and see what a no compromises cab looks like.
  11. Just bought Chris’ Barefaced One110. I’ve never seen such a thorough packing job on a cab; great job. It arrived safe and sound and works beautifully. Just as described and easy communications. Thanks again!
  12. Just bought a GK MBF 500 from Bob. Good communications, quick delivery, exactly as described. What more can you ask for? Thanks Bob.
  13. GK MB Fusion 500 It’s not yet arrived, so I’m yet to try the combination. However I’ve owned an AER Amp One before so I should be able to usefully compare. Pete
  14. Ah man. I literally posted a wanted request for this in the last few weeks. Went for the BF One10 and an amp instead. Have a free bump anyway for a killer combo.
  15. It’s because of this comment that I’ve had the guts to pick up a secondhand BF One10 and a secondhand GK MBF500. I was possibly going to try an RCF HD-10A with Zoom pedal but couldn’t find any locally to try out. At least I can flip the BF if it doesn’t work out. The AER Amp One I would have bought secondhand if it was available. But I remember how powerful it was when I last owned one, and if the BF One10 can muster a similar presence/volume at a cost and weight reduction I’ll be very impressed.
  16. So how did this all turn out? Does the HD10A have enough bass at gig volumes to match the BF 110?
  17. Anywhere PA gear can be picked up secondhand? eBay isn’t that great and not finding a lot Googling for PA forums...
  18. Well well well. Very tempting! I'll have a closer look at that. Well that's totally workable. Now I'm spoiled for choice. Thanks guys. This is great.
  19. Good to know. Some of what I do is small jazz combo stuff with no PA. I'd think the k10.2 could hold up to that no problem. Anywhere we can search for PA stuff secondhand? A quick web search wasn't that helpful...
