1. That sounds like a good starter for 10. Thanks.
2. Hi all I emailed Alex directly about this, but got no response, so I'll put it up to the collective here. I'm looking for a small combo/one hand carry solution for small jazz gigs. The GK MB150S I've played through and liked the tone and will work great. For a similar price as a used GKMB150s, though, I can get a Barefcaed Retro 1x10 and a small GK MB200 (or just use my existing Puma 900, with great care). Stick the latter two into a cajon bag and that'll work nicely. Anyone have any idea how the two boxes compare? Max SPL, tone? Thanks Pete
3. There are two possible trades which could work, which would have to include cash my way: 1. Peavey GV bass + cash my way 2. G+L M2500 (USA or tribute) + cash my way (amount depending upon whether Tribute or proper USA)
4. IMO the BB2 is a louder cab than a Fearless. Less low end and a bit bigger box is the tradeoff. Fearless F112 design is a lot more like what the Big Baby 1 was like. Not same drivers, but similar philosphy. I think Alex ditched the desire to go for super huge low end after the first series and tuned the BB2 higher. I'm not surprised one F112 doesn't cover a loud band...neither would a single 12 in most boxes...though I will say micro amps probably don't supply enough juice to get the most out of the F112 woofer. Prob a power amp/pre setup is needed to get the absolute most out of the cab. Reports on Talkbass of people pushing 1000W or more into a cab - I guess it can take it. 3012LF rated at 450W RMS though....Passinwind could probably offer sensible comment here. I think the BB2 would manage most settings as a single cab solution. And with the power conventionally available out of micro heads - 500W would get a lot out of it. IMO of course
5. Thanks kindly. But I'm afraid cash is king right now.
6. The neck may not be wide enough to accommodate the bigger string spacing. Outer strings might be too close to the edge...
7. Just FYI I own one of these and it's one with string spacing 17.5mm. It will not adjust as far as 19mm spacing...you might want to work out your string spacing, as for many that will be a critical factor in whether they buy or not. GLWTS

9. Hey Phil, I did that when I tried a BB2 out. Turning off the high end - and it's a very high quality compression driver that's in there, and it sounded really really good to my ears - makes the cab sound much more old school. It sounded great. Wonderful sounding cab. It's a great one cab solution. Just a bit bigger than I wanted, and I'm sorry to say I'm one of the few who doesn't like the painted finish (but if it came in the Retro series tolex, it'd be amazing). Go ahead and order already. Lol
10.
I imagine the 3-way the Big Baby I shares an awful lot in common with an F112. The BB2 less so?
Yes, this is true, IMO. Though the BB2 has much less going on down very low than the F112, I can personally attest. But mid and upper range are extremely clear and relatively uncoloured on both cabs. At least compared to most bass cabs. Kiwi has had a different experience, see above. But, honestly, the F112 may have too much low end for many real world spaces....it's huuuuge. Really massive. But IMO the BB2 has plenty enough low end for 5 string bassists. Also, for the BB2, by tuning the cab higher, and by making the BB2 a bigger volume cabinet, Alex gets more volume/efficiency out of the driver he's using. At least as far as I understand the physics of it. Pete
11.
Bit harsh on Fearless to single them out as having the same Policy as pretty much all cab builders out there, with exception to BF
Fair comment. But the Fearless stuff is very expensive...and there is nowhere to hear it first. At least with most other brands, I could go to Bass Direct or something...or a mate's gig, or whatever.
12.
Hi Pete- I hope your well! Are the fearless cabs quite hard to get here in the UK? I quite like that barefaced are based in the UK and that the support seems to be pretty good. Do people tend not to like them as they are too flat sounding? Im getting the impression that they have more the sound of a good PA monitor rather then a coloured bass amp.. Looks like Im going to be buying one new now (unless anyone has one for sale here) so I can always take advantage of the returns policy if it doesnt suit.
Fearless cabs have to be ordered from Guy at Tricky Audio. No returns.... At least with BF you can order and return within a month if you don't like it. It's why I never ordered new with Fearless stuff...couldn't quite stomach the risk. Got mine secondhand. Best way for everything, lol The Fearless cabs do not have the typical colouration of many bass cabs. They are much more studio monitor like. For jazz gigs I think that is fine; for rock or other gigs I'll use my Zoom B3 pedal to color it up. Mind you, the BB2 is also extremely faithful to the audio input. But it has less low end (but plenty enough IMO). It's not a typical 'coloured' cabinet either. You might find that both are too clean for your tastes.
13. Oof. Way out of my reach. But what an amp. Have a free bump.
14. Caveat: The Fearless F112s really need 500w into 8 ohms per cab to put out decent volume. Not sure if your LM2 will have that ability....but it would probably work pretty well with a BB2 (which I also demo'd at one point). Honestly, a BB2 is superb one cab solution, and has more than enough low end for most people. It's efficient and loud. Given what you have, and your requirements for multipurpose use, I think it might be a very good solution for you. Pete
15. Hey Phil. I just bought a couple of the Fearless F112 cabs secondhand; they are extremely powerful cabs with tons of low end. Very clean and uncoloured; they are one of the 'super 12s' kicking around these days. I think a BB2 would go louder, but doesn't go as low; these go as low to my ear as Acmes/Audiokinesis cabs (and I have owned or demo'd both). I'm still getting used to them, but they are another boutique/high end option. You're welcome to try mine out sometime. One F112 is huuuuge sounding and very even, 2 is monstrous.
16. Everything I have is in my sig. Aiming for less rather than more! Lol
17. Second cab sold. Thanks kindly Gerard.
18. Hey guys I've had this for a few years but don't really gig with a pedalboard....so it's stayed at home. Pristine condition. Doesn't have original box or power supply. [s]£100 + postage anywhere. I might be open to offers....[/s] SOLD. Pete Pics up at https://flic.kr/s/aHskRN1MJs
