Hey all Circumstances force the sale of my used, and well gigged, Pedulla Rapture JJ 5. Beautiful candy apple red, with chrome hardware. An excellent 5 string Jazz bass, essentially, with a great B string and wonderful ergonomics. Maple body, lovely maple neck, tasty figured birdseye maple fretboard. Specs as per the Pedulla website: http://www.pedulla.c...ml/rapture.html This bass is the version with 17.5mm spacing at the bridge. Weighs 8.6 lbs on my bathroom scales. Fretboard has some wear on one edge where the lacquer has worn off. Belt buckle rash on back (not from me, but from previous owner). Electronics in excellent working order and frets in good shape. Lovely low setup. The bass case is in good condition overall but has taken one or two dinks too. These are well reviewed, and ridiculously expensive new. Price is[s] £1500[/s] [s]£1400[/s] £1350 including insured shipping in the UK; if shipping outside the UK, please contact me for a quote. No trades. But, if you want to make me an offer, get in touch. Pete Couple of taster photos follow. The main album is at the Flickr link (https://www.flickr.c...6321@N02/692Yhh)

I have emailed the manufacturer for more info, as I am intrigued, despite the price... He states the minimum broadband SPL @ 1w/1m for all cabs on the website is 98 db. I find it a little confusing to refer to 'all cabs', so have emailed back, but if he effectively makes a powered 1x10" with the SPL output of a good 1x12", I'm impressed at this engineering...

lol None taken. I'm a bit taken aback at the use of the term 'lightweight' and the price!!!

Anyone had a go of these? http://www.waynejonesaudio.com A powered 2x10 and 1x10 cab series from Australia. I remember Bass Player raving about the cabs last year, and I see one Talkbass contributor who has churned through a lot of high end cabs has bought one. I'm intrigued - but the website makes no mention of SPL anywhere. The 1x10 is 40 lbs and the 2x10 is 66 lbs, somewhat belying the term they use of 'lightweight'. He builds in casters and a foldaway handle into both types of cabinet though. Two 2x10 and the preamp would run you $5700 USD or so, at a bargain price direct from the manufacturer!!!!

Afternoon everybody Up for sale is a set of Joe Barden JB4 rail humbuckers I picked up on the forum a few years back. They were in a project bass which is getting parted out, so they are up for sale. There's about 12 cm of lead left on the front pickup and 17 cm of lead on the back pickup. I has the pickups professionally installed in the Jazz Bass they were in, and include the lower profile screws that they came with. I love the GK MB800. It was a very close call between the GK and the Tecamp....the GK had a much noisier fan. Great sounding amp though. Pmjos, can't wait to hear your review as well. I am seriously tempted here, for the first time in a few years. I'll keep an eye on the TB classifieds...

Thanks Passinwind. My Tecamp Puma 900 would probably have enough welly for one of these then. Anyone know how loud one of these gets in the mids?.... I'm not worried about the lows with that 3012LF and the box size...I tried an Audiokinesis TC112AF before and that sucker had bass which would punch through walls, but was fairly neutral/quiet in the mids....the Berg CN112 cab I currently use is loud in the mids, and I find the 98db SPL claim credible. Tight in the lows though...

You mean 600-800 watts into 8 ohms? That's quite a bit more than the rating for that driver...and does anyone make a micro amp capable of pushing 600-800w into 8 ohms?
-
What's the ideal power for an F112? What is the max anyone has pushed through it? Edit: It's just I see people using very big power amps through these...and the 3012LF is a power hungry driver...is there a micro amp with 'big' power?
-
Anyone know how these fare vs the TKS 1126? Same woofer, not sure about the mid and tweet though. I've had my eye on the F112 for a few years but have been scared by the price and having to get it custom made...

Subbed. Can't wait to hear a review of the F112
Unfortunately IME there are no cheap and good 5-string basses. There's more to making a good 5-string than simply widening the neck and pickups and adding an extra bridge saddle and machine head, which is all the cheaper end of the market does. Even if they are currently out of your price range, go to a specialist bass shop such as Bass Direct, Bass Gear or The Gallery and try some around the £2k mark. Then you'll see why you've been unsatisfied with the budget end of the market.
This. A thousand times this. I only found decent 5 strings once I hit Pedulla and Modulus. Others...very floppy. A lot depends upon proper construction and stiffness of the neck. Scale length matters too, but the neck is a big deal.

Great bass. I had a 5er. Punchy, nicely made, great colours, sleek necks....excellent. I only sold mine because, IIRC, my mate was selling his Modulus Q5 and I needed to raise funds.

Thanks for the pics Karlfer. I'm not smart enough to figure it out, but I guess if Alex wants to share how it works, he will, and if he doesn't, he won't. Just looks like a port to me, and I'm guessing whatever happens in there, it is partially occluded to cause some of the desired effect. Anyway, will try and play through one of these at The Great British Bass Lounge at some point.

I didn't know you were Focusrite technical support. Nice. I went round the houses with various Firewire cards - the SIIG one that is meant to work properly, etc. Still got them somewhere. Couldn't get them to work with the Saffire Pro using the Asus X99-A board, so I ended up buying the Asus Thunderbolt expansion card as a final resort, and bridging it with the Firwire/Thunderbolt adapter. I guess the Asus X99-A board just doesn't like Firewire cards much. I didn't realise it wouldn't give a true indication of the capability of Thunderbolt - my apologies. I look forward one day to getting a true Thunderbolt interface, but I guess I won't need it for low latency! Windows 10 looked great, and I was sorry I couldn't leave it on my system. But I just cannot faff around again with FW cards and suchlike when what I have already works.
