1. Simply FYI. An email response from Bergantino to an email I sent - a couple of lines -- -- ('Just got your email about the new HDN112. It looks interesting. I currently own 2 x CN112 cabinets. Are the new HDN cabinets a significant upgrade over the CN112s? How do they compare sonically?): -- 'Hi, We have extended the low end of the HDN speakers to nudge them closer to the sound of the HD series speaker. They do have a little more bloom on the bottom, but I wouldn’t say that they are a significant upgrade. We had a lot of customers caught between the HD ceramics (for the low-end) and the CN (for the weight). So, we tried to combine the best of both worlds. The CN112 is a great speaker, no doubt. If the low end is the most important thing about your sound they might warrant changing out. If you have a local dealer taking a listen would be recommended. Thanks! 2. I've been happy with the CN112 tone, but I really did like the IP112ER I had too...tons of low end....the old HD ceramic driver mated to a fantastic tweeter and the software brains that are now in the the new B | Amp. I disliked the tone of HD112 on its own. I assume the IP112ER software did fancy stuff to the tone, 'cause it sounded great. Hmm...interesting...
3. I just received an email about this too. Interested to see how the HDN 112 compares to the ?now defunct CN112. Perhaps someone will give their take of a sonic impression soon. I cannot find any more mention of CN series on the website either, A new B | Amp + an HDN212...I wonder how much that would cost....!!!
4. Thanks Al. Free bump...the string spacing is probably going to be too wide for me. Lovely bass though, and a bass that has been on my temptation list for a little while.
5.
Divide by 4 for a 5 string.
Whoops! Thanks.
6. Al, thanks for your update. I don't think I've ever seen a bass with 20mm string to string spacing. Are you certain of your measurements? Even Fenders and Laklands only go up to 19mm at the bridge. Could I please ask that you try measuring from centre to centre from the B string to the G string and then divide by 5? - This is how I've seen my local luthier do it...thanks once again for your patience. Pete
7. Can I ask... Nut width? String spacing at Bridge? Thanks kindly Pete
8. Never thought I'd see you sell it. Free bump.
9. A 3x10" that weighs 36 lbs is pretty impressive...sealed but ?still decent low end extension (I assume 43 Hz is the -10db point, as a sealed cab needs to be pretty big to be -3db at 43Hz)....looks very tasty. Pricey though!
10. I remain very interested...but it really will have to be amazing to be worth me thinking of selling my TecAmp puma 900. Mind you, the Berg IP I owned previously sounded fantastic everywhere I used it, so if I could get the sonic benefits of the IP setup with the lightness of my 2 x CN112 I'd be considering the upgrade...one of those jobs where I'd really have to try it out before buying I think. Or I'll just wait until the gearheads on TalkBass ditch it for the 'next new thing'. I'm assuming this amp will work worldwide with mutliple voltages though...

W10 and DAW's

I'll wait and see. I liked Windows 10, but until Focusrite say they have it sorted out, I'll just hang fire.

W10 and DAW's

Installed Windows 10 on my DAW. My Focurite Saffire Pro 24 over Thunderbolt interface no longer worked. System - Saffire Pro 24 into Asus X99-A (via Firewire to Apple adapter cable to Thunderbolt adapter card), 16 gig RAM, OC'd i7 5820K, Samsung 850 Pro main SSD drive. Uninstalled. Win 7 x64 again and everything back to the way it was and working. Beautiful. Focusrite's website says there are known issues with W10 and Firewire interfaces and VIA chipsets. I don't know if that applies to me or not, but I wasn't in the mood for troubleshooting.
13. I suspect once you get to a moderate quality level, the preamp matters less than the player. The tonal differences are there between preamps, but nothing that couldn't be replicated by EQ or software to me. Scott Devine has an expensive BAE preamp he's acquired recently, and a Vanderkley Aurora head before that, but before that he just had a good old Markbass head. He sounds pretty much brilliant no matter what he's recording through. Creativity and practice trump gear, I think.
14. It's clean, but slightly warm. Big broad EQ, and the lowest EQ point is really more for cutting than boosting. Not like the Tone Hammer much, at least to my ears and through my cabs. I didn't really gel with the Tone Hammer.

W10 and DAW's

I'm still on Win 7 x64, Rock solid. Saffire Pro 24 into Asus X99-A (via Firewire to Applae adapter cable to Thunderbolt adapter card), 16 gig RAM, OC'd i7 5820K, Samsung 850 Pro main drive, it's a beast. Reaper and lots of VI's/NI Komplete 10. 3.0 ms input latency/3.6 ms output latency at 64 samples (I think I have reported that correctly), though that's just doing solo tracking of bass. Can you roll back to W7 from W10 if all doesn't go well? I have backups and could restore from that, but would be interested to know. Pete
16. Never Actually Made a Model Too harsh? Too harsh.
17. I'm still interested, though TBH it would have to be a pretty amazing amp to retire my Tecamp Puma 900, which works perfectly well with my CN112 x2. Mostly I'd like to buy these secondhand, after early purchasers do the inevitable splurge and then move on to the next new thing 6 months later, with the next new boutique amp/preamp/whatever. I'd still like to have some serious time with a Jule Monique preamp, as the most recent flavour of the last few years, but when I tried one out at moderate volumes when visiting another bassist I thought it was good, but not amazing. Might not have been the right setting though. I'm just used to the convenience of plug and play with a micro amp, I suppose.
18. Whew, another stunner. I'm still enjoying the one I bought off you. Where do you get them all? Have a free bump.
19. Logic. But, if you want something else fully featured and cheaper/totally customisable....Reaper is worth a look. PC and Mac. It took me a while to get to grips with it, but I really really like it now. I have it so it can look like Logic, Pro Tools, though I use another skin (House of White Tie Imperial) which looks great on my HD screen. I understand many Pro Tools users have moved to Reaper, at least from the Reaper forums. Make of that what you will; I doubt that will be an unbiased source... Best of luck.
20. Nice work. Really great job, and for free, I don't think anyone can complain re: time spent design/prototyping/testing. Do you feel the only cabs 'better' than your design would be Fearless, Baer, Barefaced, TKS full range cabs, etc? Those are of course all, to one degree or another, 'full range', and have prices to match... I'd be interested to know if you plan a version with a crossover to a 6" driver or tweeter. Great job, once again.
21.
calling Funkle?
I'm late. Free bump for Acme! Great cabs. And for Owen, of course. GLWTS.
22.
fretfx.com
This. Works well and a reversible mod. Cheaper than doing a Sims job. I have blue ones on my Modulus. Very helpful.
23. Woo! Beautiful. Have a bump. Great seller here chaps.
24. I have often wondered about this sort of project. I have EMG DC40s in my Modulus 5 and I think they sound great, esp with a John East U Retro in there too. The Stingray 5 has a superb neck, nut width, and string spacing for someone like me, and it sounds like you too. The sound is marmite. I own one, and I have learned how to live with it and use it, but I like having other instruments (P, J, the Modulus Q5) for other sounds. I have secretly planned to get a Status Stingray 5 neck, mate it to a custom body (or a Ray5 body if I can find one cheap, on its own with no neck), and stick in 2 x EMGDC40 and a U Retro. All the benefits of my Modulus with better balance and less weight. Someday... I'd love to hear how this turns out. Go for it. Pete
