1. Anyone tried the RCF HD-10A? They look to be pretty impressive on paper anyway. I need to go and give the QSC K10 and K8 a go too.
 2. That was fast. PM responded to.
 3. OK, I think I've got the photos working now.
 4. Hi all Having scored a Bergantino IP112ER, I finally feel able to let go of my Acme B2. A great cab, been with me 5 years and going strong. I've used any number of amps with it though I ultimately preferred the smooth sound of the Streamliner, which has beautiful built in high pass filtering also. The TecAmp Puma also worked well in my experience. I'm sure you guys know the score, but if you don't, this is the lowest tuned cabinet out there. If you have the watts, it delivers more low end than any other passive cabinet I've ever played through. Of course, that colours my interpretation of other cabs quite a bit too - this was my first 'higher end'/'boutique' cabinet. It's also the one that inspired Alex Claber to get on with his Barefaced designs. Another story.... I'm strictly a 4-banger these days, but I find even with a 4 string I love the luscious low end - it's not just for 5-bangers. This is a carpeted Series II model, as opposed to the newer Series III spray finish models. I prefer carpeting, but everyone's mileage varies. Link to the Acme website for info: http://www.acmebass.com/pdf/b2.pdf Specs:

Frequency response: +/-3 dB 41Hz to 22 kHz -6 dB at 31 Hz
Power Handling: 350 Watts RMS continuous
300 Watts sine wave @ 30.87 Hz
Sensitivity: 93 dB 1W/1M
Impedance: 4 ohms
Dimensions: 23"H x 15.75"W x 16.5"D
Weight: 50 lbs / 23.2 kg
I would suggest the specs to be slightly conservative...I've pumped 900W from my Streamliner in (fingerstyle, not slapping, and I have a light touch) on a regular basis without harm. My old TecAmp Puma 500 actually worked very well too - it put in 500W into this cabinet and was equally loud (and had excellent EQ points which worked well with the cab). A superb cab for jazz, funk, function band stuff, and the like, which is exactly what I used it for. I'm told it's excellent for double bass too though I don't play upright. It reproduces pretty much what you put in, a lot like playing through a desk or studio monitors. It's in good working order. The rear metal edge strips have some wear but otherwise the cab is in good condition. Looking through my old receipts and what not, I paid £500 + import + VAT = £650 to get this to the UK 5 years ago. Whomever would like it can have this cab for considerably less than I paid. I'll put it out there for[s] £300 + shipping to any interested parties[/s]. SOLD. Collection is absolutely fine too. I'll have to attach pics in a following post, the uploader seems to be having some trouble. Pete
 5. Hi all I have for sale a used Sansamp Bass Driver DI. A scratch on one face and wear on the corner, top edge, and bottom. In good working order. £110 posted in the UK takes it. Happy with bank transfer or Paypal. Pete
 6. As a result of this thread, I'm heading out to try out some QSC K12/K10's at some point, and I just bought northwing's Bergantino IP112ER to try out further knowing I could shift it on if need be. And I'm still rocking my Acmes, though the B2 looks like it could be supplanted by the Berg IP. Now I wind up looking at preamps a lot more too. Blast you all for GAS...or BASS (Bought Another Sound System)...
 7.
When cranking all up to the max the speaker of the IP112ER can be troubled (if you don't use an extention cab). First check is the bass controll on your bass. This one needs to be about neutral on high volumes. Secondly there's a DSP switch at the back of the IP112ER which can be used as a high pass filter. WARNING: First switch the amp off and wait a few seconds before pushing this DSP button! When pushed in it allows some more low frequencies. Officially this is the setting when using an extention cab. It can however also be used stand-alone. The only difference is a bit more bass.
Thanks mate. I've been noticing no bass boost needed for this cab! Though I think my DSP button settings aren't for one or two cabs...it seems to be pushed in is 'dry' as opposed to 'extension cab' I've seen marked on the back of other IP's. Pushed in seriously reduces the amount of bass on my cab. Which makes sense with what Jim Bergantino said in my email. Molan, how much for a Dove Cage Monique? Or the Rack Mount Monique?
 8.
On further reflection, the EQ on the Monique is not the scalpel like tone control of modern amps, it is more like a broad brush which brings the goodness without trying too hard. Maybe I like it because I cannot seem to mess it up?
The EQ is stated to be 'non-interactive' - so it's not like e.g. a Fender tone stack, or the Genz Benz Streamliner stuff, etc. If it has a wide enough 'Q' then it'll have a gentle slope and from what I understand most EQ shifts will sound musical. As far as I understand it anyway...I am a relative newbie in this arena and will defer to others' expertise... From the Talkbass Monique thread the 'Bass' knob is centred around 50 Hz-ish, so I guess rolling off the bass knob might well get rid of a fair amount of material around 40 - 60Hz too. I would guess you could make a bass sound a bit anaemic if you cut too much around here. Alex's website has a nice page on this area - http://barefacedbass.../Huge-lows.htm. Not to get too off topic, but I got a response back from Jim Bergantino re: my question about HPF in the IP112ER. I assume this info will probably extrapolate to other IP's too: 'There is a high pass filter in the IP, but it is on the low side and only there to protect the cab against any ultra low frequencies making their way to the amp. You may want to use a VHPF to adjust your tone, etc. This, along with the limiting is loaded into both the regular and dry settings. The dry setting has no further eq added to the system.' Now, back on topic...I am definitely considering saving up for a Monique...
 9.
Hey Pete, my other cab is an ACME as well! I have not massively noticed that the bass knob/boom issue - my guess is that the DSP of the IP has covered that. I will try and see to it next time i fire it up in anger. Sorry to be less than helpful.
Hah, we resemble each other in a few ways it would appear... I've emailed Jim Bergantino to ask him too. GAS is a terrible thing...
 10.
I have. It is lush beyond. I am rubbish at explaining sound to cannot give you any of the usual patter about it sounding like this or that. It sounds great and it makes me happy. Is it the pre-amp for life? Who knows. Is it the pre-amp for now? Yes. Just in case anyone missed my disclaimer earlier in the thread, the tech issue I was having was NOT due to the Monique after all.
Thanks. I have just picked up an IP112ER which I am trialling out to see if it works for me or not...been trying quite a few stompbox pres like the Sansamp BDDI, the Aguilar ToneHammer, and even the Zoom MS-60B. Jury's out though I get perfectly workable tones and decent levels from all of them (the Sansamp probably could use a bit more boost but I am using the old version which doesn't have a voltage output selector for the outputs...I also find the Zoom sounds pretty good but is a bit fiddly without having access to all the physical controls in the same way as the Aguilar or the Sansamp....but I digress). The IP112ER puts out a ton of bass in some rooms (me likey...my other cabs are Acmes) and there are times when you need to be able to tame it to stop it from turning into a wall of mush. I have read that the Monique doesn't have any high pass filtering built in (Greenboy forums - Monique thread). I'm assuming the DSP from the IP112ER probably handles that...I think...so all I'd need to know is if the 'Bass' knob on the Monique, when used appropriately, can cut some of the boom whilst maintaining a decent low end. Any thoughts? Thanks again. Pete
 11. Owen, have you tried the Monique with your IP310? If you have, what was it like?
 12. Form an orderly queue...ha... Gaf's pretty much got this one stitched up. Sold pending payment. Given the interest, guess I should have asked for more money! Lol Pete
 13. PMs responded to. Gavin is first in line...
 14. Hi all Up for sale is a used (once only!) neodymium Dingwall P pickup and matching pickguard for the Dingwall Super J. Had these installed on my current Super J but realised I'm a straight Jazz bass guy as opposed to a P guy (at least as far as my Dingwall is concerned). So, if you'd like to try the 'P' sound with your Super J, you can do so for significantly cheaper than going through Barry/Dingwall... Both are in excellent condition, as you would expect. They were installed and removed by an experienced luthier who used to work for The Bass Gallery in Camden, London. I have attached photos and can email higher-res pics if needed. Happy to ship anywhere. I'd happily take Paypal or a bank transfer. Cost new from Dingwall last year was $344 CAN. I'd be happy to take[s] £150 UKP + shipping[/s] £120 posted anywhere. SOLD Hit me up! Pete
 15. Hi all I've not really had a use for this pedal since I bought it a few years back. I have unfortunately still managed to damage one of the knobs, but it is otherwise in good working order. Website is at http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/b2 [s]£20 posted in the UK takes it[/s]. SOLD. Comes as is with the original instructions (I used batteries with it so don't have the PSU for it either). Pete
 16. That sounded pretty good - nice work 4 Strings. I'm on the waiting list for a Barefaced too...looking forward to it.
 17. Just sold a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2 to Arpi - straightforward transaction with a fair few communications. Deal with confidence!
