Hi all Up for sale is my recently acquired ACG EQ 02 (on a Jazz Plate). I bought this from Alan Cringean of ACG, it's basically brand new. These are no longer available through Alan prewired on a bell plate. It is in excellent working order. I am selling as I'm thinning the herd and I'm going to end up with more preamps than I have basses to put them in! Have attached a photo where it is currently living, in my Squier CV Jazz. Makes the jazz sound absolutely beastly, or dubby, depnding on your preferences. Info can be found at the following links, though I would point out this is the version without a passive tone knob. I'm looking for a very specific production Jazz bass...
funkle replied to funkle's topic in Bass Guitars
The Maruszczyk instruments are the main area of inquiry for me. The problem is, the more I look at their site the more customised I want to make the bass, and the price goes up. I've tried out a Yamaha TRB6P from the first series made (slightly shorter scale) to see how I might get on with an extended range instrument. I liked the extended range but found the scale still didn't suit me. Still, a worthwhile experiment. Easily one of the finest instruments I have laid hands on. I just keep on getting chicken when it comes to instruments that are customised or non-production. It's so much easier to sell a production instrument if there's something I don't like, and I'm still learning about what exactly it is I like in an instrument, even after all these years. I find it hard to think of parting with the money for a custom and getting it wrong. Doing a big band gig tonight with my Fender JB62-M, my medium scale (32") jazz, and every time I pick it up it just feels 'right'. It's absolutely great with the preamp (J-Retro) in there. No-one ever seems to notice in a band/gig context whether the scale length of the bass makes much odds, and it says 'Fender' on it so everyone is familiar/comfortable with that. I have found a 30" production 6 string for sale that I am discussing with the seller. Interesting, seems worth a try....http://www.rondomusic.com/hxb406natbshort.html Pete -

Hi all You'll see from another thread that I'm selling a few things to sort out the tax bill this year. I am selling a gorgeous Yamaha TRB6P (Mark 1 version) which I scored from a fellow Basschatter. It's a beautiful intrument with a great variety of sounds (including the lovely piezo option), but it turns out I'm just not quite suited to playing a 6'er. This is far and away one of the finest instruments I have owned or played. It is a Translucent Blue colour, though this has mellowed a little with age to a slightly more teal colour. Beautiful. (See pics). It comes with the original brown Yamaha hardshell case. The string spacing is 19mm and the scale length is 33 7/8" . It weighs in at 4.8 kg. It currently has straplocks though the original strap pins are also included. Tech specs from the original Yamaha website:

Construction: Neck-thru-Body
Scale Length: 33-7/8" (860mm)
Neck: Maple/ Mahogany
Fingerboard: Ebony
Nut Width: 2-3/16" (56mm)
Radius: 39" (1000mm)
Frets: 24
Body: Figured Maple/ Rose/ Maple
Bridge: BPZ-6 (with Piezo)
Pickups: Single Coil x 2, Piezo Pickup
Pickup: Switch 2 Balancer
Controls: 5-Control System
Hardware: Gold
Color: Translucent Blue
Piezo Pickups in Solid Brass Bridge
(The piezo pickups used on the TRB models use individual bimorphous piezo elements for each string, all built into a specially designed bridge which is machined from solid brass.) I have included pics of this wonderful insturment, and I have included a photo in the series to demonstrate the only flaw I could find, several slight scratches to the rear of the bass (see pic). The finish is otherwise generally stunning. The bass is in good working order, with a low set-up, fully working electronics, and a reasonably fresh battery. It's wearing Rotosound nickels. The frets have also been recently polished and the fingerboard oiled. I am selling for [s]£950 + shipping[/s], SOLD, precisely what I paid for it in the first instance. Paypal is the preferred method of payment. All the best! Fender Stu Hamm Urge Bass (Mark 1), Black, 32" Scale

Hi all With the New Year tax bill looming, I need to sell some basses. This is a fairly new to me Fender Stu Hamm Urge bass (Mark 1), 32" scale (medium scale). It's recently in, so the first out, unfortunately. It's the USA 3 pickup (JPJ) version which Stu Hamm designed with the Fender Custom Shop. Alder body, maple neck and pau ferro fretboard. The P pickup is "flat-magnets on a custom '62 vintage P bass". The two J's are also custom wound with the bridge position pickup "overwound for ultra-hot sound". The electronics make this bass extremely flexible. A 4-position rotary controls the 4 settings: passive, active, active with a mid-boost, and muted/standby. The first of the two concentric pots is a treble cut/boost and a bass cut/boost. In passive mode, the bass cut/boost is a passive tone control. The other concentric controls the volume and the pan between the pickups (depending on how many are selected). A three-position switch gives the choice between: two J's, all 3 pickups, and the P alone. I have included a .pdf of the control layout. It sounds great for fingerstyle, slap, and many different styes I have played in. It does cover 'all basses in one' very well. The electronics are in full working order, it's recently restrung with 105 - 45 nickels and the frets and body have been polished. I have it set for a low action. Weight is 3.7 kg. I have included plenty of photos as the bass has seen plenty of wear. The finish on the front of the bass is fine with some swirling of the finish consistent with age, but the back and edges have their fair share of nicks, dunts, scratches, and chips, which I have attempted to catalgoue faithfully. The neck also has a a few chips in the finish as do the edges of the headstock. It's been gigged plenty. I added some Dunlop straplocks which I am happy to leave on (I will also include the original gold strap pins). The bass ships as is in a carefully packed double-box system. I have seen these sell in the past for £950 or thereabouts. I am happy to accept [s]£800 + shipping,[/s] SOLD, Paypal being the preferred method of payment. I'm open to interesting offers also though a cash settlement will trump other bids. All the best! Ok, I've had the Babicz on my MIJ Fender 32" Jazz now for a while. I like the bridge a lot. It is really easy to set up and locks everything firmly into place. The engineering is great, height adjustments are much easier than they used to be. I have emailed the manufacturer to state that I think it could use an adaptation to allow for quicker string changes. Looks to me like it would be simple enough to mill slots into the top of the bridge to permit this. I think a piezo option would be nice. I'm not hugely convinced it changes the tone of a bass, although I understand the engineering principles involved might state in theory that it should be otherwise. On the whole, though, I consider that a plus, as my Jazz still sounds like a Jazz. Other people's experiences may vary. I find a preamp or string gauge changes the tone more profoundly than the bridge, at least on this bass. It is my favourite bridge though, and I look forward to seeing if future versions include the modifications suggested.
