Hi all GAS strikes again. Selling this to fund a 6 string. You'll also see my Yamaha BB1500A up for sale in the forum. Well travelled and has been abroad many times, as it is so handy and fits into luggage well. Will ship with the original gig bag. Electronics in good working order and no significant fretwear. The fretboard could use an oiling, but otherwise it's good to go. There are two pre-drilled sites the strap button can be located (the bass comes this way) - I moved it from the upper front side (?bout) to the back of the neck to assist balance, but it can easily be moved back. Specs as per Hohner USA's webpage - http://www.hohnerusa.com/index.php?325. I'm looking for [s]£200[/s] £150 shipped in the UK. Trades against a 6 will also be considered. Hi all GAS strikes again. Selling this to fund a 6 string. Rare, excellent condition, hands down one of the most resonant instruments I have played. Really excellent build quality, for example I found when I took it apart to check the electronics that the shielding job is excellent; even the reverse of the pickguard has been shielded. Solid as a proverbial rock. Some of the upper frets are in need of polishing. Otherwise the bass is in excellent working condition. Really interesting preamp - schematic from the back of the bass is in the pics. Reviewed well in Bass Player when it was released, though sadly I don't have a copy of the original review. 21 frets, alder body, 9V preamp, humcancelling alnico pickups, great sound. Video of one in action - http://youtu.be/dIcdamEVc5c I'm looking for £350 plus p+p for this excellent professional instrument.
Ahh yes, one of my favorite pet peeves! Especially when it applies to Drummers/Guitards who show up at rehearsal unprepared. You practice at home. You rehearse with the group.
Too true.

The corresponding feeling when you manage to do whatever the particularly hard thing you've been working on is very satisfying. It's all a balance. Work on an exercise or similar that is too far beyond your level, and you can get frustrated if it is truly beyond you. Too easy and you're not pushing yourself hard enough to learn more. Just right, and you feel 'pushed' and tired after practicing but although it is a significant effort it is manageable. This is one reason a good teacher is essential, at least early on. A really good one knows just how hard to push you. You may not be a good judge of this yourself as you think. My 2p. Pete

I installed one of these today on my medium scale MIJ Fender Jazz. Jeff Berlin's tech hipped me to these + said they're well engineered and he's converting his own basses to them. So, I made the jump on his recommendation. I can't say the sonic differences are huge, but it seems to have a little more sustain, and seems a little 'fuller' in general. Otherwise, thankfully, it sounds like my Fender Jazz. I may be having a placebo effect, I'll wait and see. It fixed a problem with wandering saddles on my old Fender bridge and is easy to set up. It is easier set up than the old bridge, plus the saddles and cams are lockable in place. When I tune up, I notice the note seems to stay more stable on my Petersen tuner also. I'm not sure what to make of that. Nicely made, a breeze to install. I like it.
Ooh, exciting! I have just added a zero fret to my bass to stop me GASing over a Saratoga! I had an old Kingston years ago and it was the best playing bass I have ever owned. Damn Youtube videos giving me gas!
Cool - how'd you go about that?

BUmp for an old thread. I've a MTD Kingston Saratoga on the way - I'll stick up some pics and a review when I get it. Pete
Hmmm... I have to think about it. I want to take a bass to leave in Madrid with my brother, but I don't want to part with any of my current ones and don't want to spend a lot either... This Cort looks quite interesting but I never tried these ones... however you are local so maybe we could meet and have a little try? have a bump anyway while I decide what I want/need
Sure. Come on over. I'm in Newington. PM me for details. Pete
hmmm, what is the routing like under the pickguard? edit: oooh, and you're local too!
It's a Squier-type routing - a large rout for the neck pickup with a chunk taken out between the front pickup and the control cavity. EDIT: The cavity is also fully shielded with conductive paint. Very nice indeed.
