i used this thing last night and no its definatly not just the valve warming up. I have been using valve amps for years and i know the difference it makes. When first plugged in it sounded right, just as it should do nice n punchy, little wimpy on the overall volume but thats what you get for using a car stereo for an amp! (ahem!) I had a quick blast when turned on and it sounded fine. left it alone for 10 mins whilst setting other bits up and when i went back to it, it sounded like i was playing through a muddy field. no clarity, loss of bottom and top end, the mid range selector made hardly any difference and no end of gain. Infact i could not get a clean sound out of it at any volume and adjusting the gain made little to no difference. I like my gain but this was not right. This is one unhappy car stereo. Its currently at my house being used to keep a door propped open Shall throw it back at you tomorrow Paulo. Hope it gets sorted by someone at Genz who isnt just sticking it through a test signal like the first time.

Yup me too. I used to play in a Thrash Metal band called Long Time Dead. Metallica, Pantera Anthrax kinda stuff. We had some good fun and released an album and an EP over time. Good fun. I need to upload our back catalogue really. Then did a bit more Goth Rock kinda thing called Lesbian Bed Death for a few years. Still playing for them on the side. Now i just started out with a new lot writing Metal again, anything goes in this band. From Sabbath to White Zombie to Volbeat to Horn of the Rhino. Never played anything else apart from rock n metal. love it.

sounds rather strange. I have had albums released through record labels etc that have never needed MCPS/PRS unless they have cover songs on(which mine never have done). If yours does have covers on it, i would forget getting CD's pressed and do it all through iTunes etc as they deal with all that themselves and you get your little tiny slice of the pie at the end of each sale. forgot to say, all my releases have been done by my band using proper pressing companies as well. give these a look see. very good [url="http://www.breedmedia.co.uk/"]http://www.breedmedia.co.uk/[/url]

I think it's telling you need it sounding manly rather than a big wet gay sound that are obviously trying to make it sound. So stop being a homo and grind it up

if you have a loud drummer then you will have to crank it to get a decent mix to hear everything at the right levels. Just bang some decent earplugs in to bring the whole level down. Fully recommend the ACS ER20 plugs. Awesome they are for the price.

my pet hate of reviews are people slapping and noodling on basses pretending to review them. Even if i see on the little picture of the video before you hit play some guy with his thumb out about to slap, i wont click it. My advice is to maybe try playing the bass a little on its own and then the bass within a song so people can hear how that bass / amp / effect would fit within a song or band setting rather than just pissing around playing scales n stuff.

big praise from me too. Never use anywhere else really. i plan on buying a pack of heavy guage DR drop tuners in the next couple of months from these guys as i need meaty strings and cant find any other strings cheaper that do a heavy guage with 115 on the low string. Great selection of plectrums as well! great store!

i run my Trace V4 with just 1 of the Matamp 4x10's and i seriously dont need anything else. ever. Such a killer amount of sound comes out of just one of em. to be able to choose to use one of em or 2 would be incredible. to have 2 x 4x10's and a 2x12 in back up for space saving style gigs would be all kinds of perfect.

mate, i am totally gutted for you for how you lost that gear. i hope the people who did it end up in the bottom of a canal, with aids. As for new stuff i would go GT200 new one, can the benifit of an added mid range dial be such a bad thing? and like you say, it could be a pain to shift on an 8x10 in this day so i would get it chopped up into 2 4x10s. I would also keep the 212 and sod the colour mis match always a good thing to have a smaller cab knocking around for gigs where you just cant be bothered with lugging much or for at home. great cabs. I have a Matamp 4x10 in the black reptile tolex and its great. proper cool. Good luck dude.

I will vouch for a Euro, i had a Euro 5LX with humbuckers and it was without doubt the most aggressive snarly bass i ever had. I sold it because i was a dick.

i would go for the Gibson or the Ric. Live on the edge, be a man and clobber each bass line you play with it.

[/quote] I have had my Sandberg nearly 2 years and where my forearm rests has gone all shiny (matt finished bass) and starting to wear through the finish. Its awesome.

Hardcore aged just look awesome! Get one bought. My PM4 will be aged but only when I have had it for 15years. Gonna let it happen naturally. Good thing about the aged sandbergs is that they 'age' the wood as well to make them sound older. Attention to detail!!! New or aged they are great.

I have heard quite a few of these micro heads now and I gotta say, none sound like a TE. I don't think any amp apart from one of theirs does. They have such a signature tone I don't think can be replicated. I do like these micro amps, I think they are great, especially the streamliner 900, it's killer! I would get yourself down to see Mark at bass direct and play through a few to get a feel for one. They all do different jobs and have different sounds.

My Trace Elliot V4 and Matamp 4x10 both made here in England. will never part with either of them. Quality stuff.

What does that achieve? [/quote] Im with you on this one dude, the very thought of playing covers makes me feel like i have a pube stuck in the back of my throat. I have played all original material over the rock/metal circuits for the best part of 15 years now. Yes its a slog to get heard but im my opinion, i love writing tunes as a band and wanting people to hear them, and if even 1 person gets to hear us rock out and loves it, then its worth it. That 1 person that loves it can lead you to playing infront of thousands! My old band played a crappy gig in Coventry in front of the 1 drunk local and 1 guy who just came in for a beer and the 1 guy that popped in bought a CD and from that we ended up playing at the Bloodstock Festival a few years ago because of the people he knew. i dont think the drunk guy liked us! lol. i do get why people play covers and thats fine, its just i started playing as i wanted to be in a baddass rock band and to have people singing our songs and rocking out with us and to make and sell records. For me, it just doesnt get better than that! i love it.
