1. Come on, do not let this thread die! What about poor Tim? Have you all forgot?
2.
Well it's decided one thing. The next one of us who starts up a band has got to call it The Tims.
... or "Tim and time machine" at least :-)
3. Here's my current amp. The head is 100W valve, made by one of local builders here in Czech Republic. The cab is apparently NOT oragne, it was my friend's project made from laminated polystyrene, really lightweight for 2x12" cab with ordinary (not neodymium) speakers. The whole is loud enough to cut through loud band (insane drummer, guitarist with loud 60W valve distortion).
4. Come on! Why is everyone so angry about poor Tim?!
5. OK, so you want versatile bass. But what about string spacing, neck profile, balance, etc? Do you have any preferences? I could really recommend Cort RB5, which I bought few months ago. Quality of these basses is surprisingly good. Also mine has probably the best feeling neck I've ever had my hands on. Plus, you can stuff the bass with some nordstrand, bartolini or similar pickups to get a monster. That was my 2 cents...
6.
Are you "The Basschat Peoples Front"? f*** off, we're "The Peoples Front Of Basschat".
Sure Loretta :-)
7.
Can I suggest that from this point on the word "bump", to move a thread back to the top, be replaced with "TIM?"
Can't agree more! Free Tim for geofio!
8. Well, problem is solved. Apparently geofio is selling item which is not very sought after and that's really bothering him... Let's have some spam! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anwy2MPT5RE
9. Bought a bass from Simon. He's top class guy!
10.
I feel sorry for Tim PS, I've bought and sold around 5 basses on BassChat in the past two months
There are some who call me... 'Tim'
11.
My recent experience with moving from a 650 watt head to a 200 watt all valve head suggests this 90 watts would be plenty!
I do have 100W custom valve head and it is ridiculously loud... I like the "valve watts".
12.
They look interesting! Have you any experience?
Not in person. I just exchanged few informative emails with producer and I must say he is amazing guy! Very helpful even when that means no job for him... Can't recommend more. Anyway no experience with his pickups, but if they were at least half as good as him, they would be perfect :-)
13. I'd try SGD, he makes side by side humbucker squeezed into JB covers. There are some samples at the page: http://www.sgd-lutherie.com/pages/ND3-J4.html
14. The bass is heading to the "routing guy" today. I'll update the thread when the routing is done.
15. lemmywinks: No wonder, wenge is amazing wood!
16. Hi Basschat! I'd like to share my joy, because I'm in a process of building Warmoth "JB", which is amazing so far (although I didn't do anything yet, lol). So I've decided to show you some pics and see if I'm the only one liking this kind of stuff or if there are more freaks like me. Chapter one: The neck. Main portion of wood is wenge accompanied with bloodwood fretboard. I totally love the grain and feel of the wenge, while bloodwood resembles kind of reddish ebony. The frets are stainless steel vintage (small, 6230). No finish, incredible feel! There will be massive black gotoh kluson-style tuners installed, matching black string tree is already there. A little tease here: Chapter two: The body. This is a little older one, but never used. It consists of three piece alder back, where pieces are matched with ubelievably attention to detail. I'd say it's one piece body from one meter distance! Anyway, the body has nicely flamed (quilted?) two piece bubinga top, again matched really nicely! Everything is covered in transparent warmoth amber finish (or something close to amber colour). Control route is on the back. There will be black Schaller bridge installed. I'm thinking of maiking clear scratch plate and control plate, something like Atelier Z basses have. What do you think? Few pictures: Chapter three: The pickups etc. After thinking it over and over I've decided to dump Schaller jazz pickups I had and go completely different way. Instead of jazz singles or splits there will be a little bit of routing (will be done by fellow luthier) and drop in dual coils in nordstrand/bartolini soapbar shape. These were custom ordered from amazing local pickup producer Jan Slapak (he makes/made pickups for Overwater, Neuser, etc.). The bass will be wired in passive volume, volume, tone for now. Some pictures: I'll keep this post updated until the bass is finished. So, come on, all sorts of comments welcomed! What do you think?
17. Wow! This is the most beautiful burst I've seen in a while!

gone

Is it fretless like pictured one? EDIT: I am an idiot. It is stated in first post...
20. Offers? Either cash or trade available. Also I think I can offer Nordstrand three band pre for the deal. It is 5 knobs, 1 switch version. Controls are 2x volume, treble, middle, bass; active/passive switch. Anyone here thinking of upgrading Lakland 55-01? ;-)
21. This is incredible deal. If only I was local, I'd give you my kidney. I don't drink, don't smoke, do sports, well worth the asking price :-)
