1.
How has this not gone yet?
Very good question...
2. Why don't you just eBay it - you'll get more £££'s I'm sure...
3. There's been two immaculate Mapleglow 4003's on eBay recently. Oddly they both went for £865 - which I reckon is a real bargain. Maybe Mapleglow 4003's go for less?
4. Congratulations! It's a great feeling when a bass is just right
5. Hi guys, my Gator pedal board is on eBay:- Item number: 280200983827 There's a while to go yet, but it's there
6. Infact, if anyone's interested in buying this thing, please PM me I'll post a 'For Sale' in the next couple of days...
7.
If you're happy with your tone you don't need the Pod! I like the tone I get out of mine. Took a lot of tweaking mind.
It's the tweaking bit that I just can't do... I'm sure there are good sounds to be got though
8. I've got a Bass Pod XT Live, the floor one, and although I've spent a fair amount of time with it, I just can't get to grips with it. Now, me and manuals don't get on too well, fair enough, but I just can't see how all this is necessary somehow... I realise that the possibilities must be pretty much limitless, but I'm happy with my tone - what more is there to achieve? I guess what I'm saying is that 'I give up' - I'm just not that geeky (i.e. clever) and I don't think it's gonna work for me. Or am I missing something obvious?
9. I'd say that this is a real bargain!!!
10.
The PJs do look wrong - perhaps some judicious routing and a couple of SD ripper pups might make things a bit more normal looking? But for the cost+effort+time you might as well source out a Gibson on eBay.
I saw one, played it (but not plugged in), at the big guitar show (Music Live?) at the NEC last year. It looked well built, apart from (my pet hate) the strings didn't pass over the pole pieces opf the pickups... The P/J arrangement looked daft as well, what's the point? Have some historical accuracy Epiphone. I thought of buying it (about £240 I think) and routing the body for a MM or soapbar pickup. Then getting a custom scratchplate made, fitting new pots, jack, wiring, shielding etc etc. By which time it would have been a pretty expensive bass.
11. I've had several Takamine 512's, infact I have one now... They're really well built, infact they feel indestructible How much volume one can expect is open to question. They're not solid top, which makes a difference I guess. I don't really expect it to compete with an acoustic guitar. The guitar will be louder every time, just use an amplifier. Plugged in, they sound good, nice pre amp and good neck. The low gloss finish is cool, no 'orrible thick gloss here... This *must* help the tone I'd reckon, and avoids that cheapo thick laquer. These £200-£500 guitars aren't of course as good as a Martin or whatever, But the Takamine is a good working instrument, fairly cheap and ok unplugged. Just my 2 cents
12. Is this the same one that's at Coda for £399?
13.
I'm into cross dressing and spanking Pidgeons. More later. Ta
You should fit right in then!
14. Nice guitar, but seeing as it's your first post (I think), how about introducing yourself?
15.
I musn't, I couldn't listen to that, where's the groove and feel in that music, does he even realise he's playing a bass?
You're right, I hear quite a few examples of 'cool, impressive' bass playing (usually on YouTube) that's totally groove free... Slapping, tapping, really fast playing etc. etc. don't necessarily equate to groove...
16. Hi, is it thru neck or bolt on? How does it sound? I'm intrigued
17.
people have complained about the contouring and the pickup- theres always the mike dirnt sig if you want one just for the way it looks. thats not slab bodied and has a precision pickup, but has the 51 shape.
But I *think* that's MIM... and no maple 'board.
18. OK, keep all controls at 12 o' clock (flat), keep the 'flat' button in (ie flat!), keep the valve grind 'off', keep the 'subharmonic' off and work from there. My ABM500 sounds really defined, and I rarely use the EQ on the amp at all (bar the valve grind, which is lovely), I just drive it from the bass's EQ...
19.
hmmmm, what does it mean when the only band name I recognise is Tool? (shrinks back into the 70s)
Yeah, me too
20.
In fact, it is that one - I listed it on EvilBay about 6 minutes before reading this thread...
That is truly gorgeous - who needs a Gibson?
21.
George W Bush flogging a bass guitar?........ Odd!........
Yeah, rumour has it that Dubya is a funky slapper down at the White House jams...
