1. OK, I had one of these... here are my thoughts:- No contouring is just plain uncomfortable. The pickup sounds strong but the string to string balance ain't good. The 'Vintage frets' are rattly (maybe I had a bad setup). The neck on mine had some truly gorgeous figuring. Build quality was immaculate (CIJ of course). The body is way too yellow, really a hopeless, unsubtle shade. The tuners were reverse (which I don't like) and infact were crap. So I sold it... Er, that's it really.

 3.
You should probably factor in a decent limiter/compressor too - synths (and PCs) can generate all sorts of stuff on occasion that you *really* don't want to hear at the full output of your amplification!
Good point! Any particular ones to check out?
 4. Item number: 280199212775 My lovely jazz bass, for sale due to an ongoing relationship with an Ibanez ATK series fretless Starts at £199.
 5. Just to reiterate:- I'm looking for a home studio set up here, not live sound...
 6. After using various clapped out and borrowed stuff it's time to buy a good set of gear, ie:- Active monitiors, or passive monitors plus a power amp. (which is better, does it matter?). Also I want a small mixer for my various keyboards, sound modules, drum machine etc. (OK, I know this brings forth strong opinions, but is Behringer ok, or not ok, for the price?). I'd like to buy new, and get the things above for under £400. Any advice would be great
 7. I gotta say that I completely agree... Thomann are pretty good, pretty cheap and when you need to return something, pretty helpful. It's amazing what crap customer service we've got used to when someone just doing the job right seems exceptional...
 8. What makes this any better (as a player) than any other '62 Reissue? Is it the fact that it's from the Fender Custom Shop? How good are these FCS instruments? Or to put it another way, what actually makes a good Precision?
 9.
...has anyone had a similar problem?
All the bloody time! All my basses have Schaller straplocks on (I love 'em except for this problem). And the screws always strip their thread after a while. I've no idea of what a real solution would be, I've tried what you describe above. And then it happens again...
 10.
HI David - thanks for the interest and offer, but I'm pretty happy with my Celinder Classic Jazz, and might well be looking for another (special) J4 if I do make it to Frankfurt (which is why I'm more keen to get the ££'s)
Aaah, I see your point
 11.
Compression...
Exactly
 12.
Im bumping and lowering the price of this beauty! I'm letting this go for £150 or anything of similiar value. I live in Sheffield - I'd prefer for the guitar to be picked rather than going through the hassle of posting. Regards, JBC
PM'd
 13. Any interest in a Fender 3TS MIM fretless Jazz for trade?
 14.
I regret that if it is a refinish I must reduce my offer to £595
More than generous I'd say... (Am I allowed to say that?)
 15.
Have actually just found a new VBC810 for £375. Sound like a good deal?
Er, yes! where was that?
 16. Yeah, I'd always wondered why it was so much less than the Line6 stuff...
 17. Welcome to Basschat... there's loads of good stuff going on here...
 18.
I'd like to offer £795
19. Thanks for the Review - sounds like incredible value to me. Hopefully people will look beyond the fact that it's a 'MAG' - and hear the sound.
 20.
Your ABM500 combo will only be operating at apx. 300w without an additional cab. Adding an extension cab unlocks the full potential of the head. The 4x10 or 1x15 (effectively a cab but built into the combo) will be 8ohm. Adding another 8ohm cab will give you the 575w @ 4ohm advertised. The only way you could get the full whack out of the existing combo is by changing the speakers inside. It is a bit confusing but you'll get used to it .
+1 to the above. I have an ABM 1 x 15" combo and an ABM 4 x 10" combo, thereby getting the full ration - 575w.
 21.
I've had a bit of an epifany...
None of our buisiness I know, but what prompted this?
 22. I bought a gorgeous Nordstrand equipped Sterling from Pete. Throughout the negotiations he was really nothing but helpful. The bass is wonderful and he was a good guy to meet, thanks!
 23.
I've never liked Gibson SG's in any form-those little battle-axey horns just bug me. In fact I can't think of a symmetrical bass I've ever liked-there's the old P-bass traditionalist rearing his ugly head again! The only Gibson bass I've ever liked is the Victory-that's a bass I'd still like to own.
I think the Les Paul (singlecut) looks great... Never played one though, and they're reckoned to be pretty uncomfortable due to lack of contouring.
