FYI- Mark Knopfler (the Dire Straits fella) was so disheartened with Fenders being very average in the 80s-90s that he had Schecter build him effectively Strat copies. Thats why all the vids of DS that see (Money for Nothing, Sultans swing etc) you see MK playing what looks like a Strat, but actually on close up you see no name on the head stock. Now you know why.
For sure, but there's a world of difference between something built for a 'rock star' in a custom shop, and the 'Made in Korea' or 'Made in America' (by Mexicans) stuff that the average player uses. Those special guitars are good product placement, but you have to judge the stuff that you can actually buy yourself.
 2.
Hmmm, are these prices for new? I've seen some nice used CIJ '75 RI's in the £500-£600 region. They're on my list of potential purchases.
You're right, £550 will get you a '75 RI, maybe less... I mean, it's a buyers market at the moment for sure.
 3. To be honest what gets me is when someone (not the OP here however) joins the Forum and their first post is a 'For Sale' one... And that's my rant over
 4.
Looking for 1100£ or around
I think they're about £1200 new, so £1100 s/h is a bit too much
 5.
Just goes to show, a goofy bass sound in the mix can come out sounding great....!
Fascinating... thanks for the link
 6.
I accept that he has not put any descriptive text on the auction, but the header states its a 66.
That is truly dreadful
 7. You're right, a 3 + 2 headstock would look much sweeter. Apart from that it's gorgeous
 8.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=180036918114 £200 would be more realistic- but only to be framed as piece of memorabilia. doesn't look repairable at all
Another load of rubbish from Cologne How *does* he make a living?
 9.
I once asked the seller to email me a photo of the bass with that day's newspaper.
Excellent idea I'll be looking forward to using that one...
 10.
Item number: 220185702548 these seem pretty good to me ?
I bought exactly this bridge, from this seller a couple of months ago. The bridge is great, the seller was excellent, and I got a good deal... If you want a Badass this is a no brainer
 11.
However, i noticed that my bass had incurred a few knocks and scratches whilst in the hands of the men at Fender.
That's unforgiveable! What buffoons they must be to damage a customers bass...
 12. I think the OP was looking at CIJ Fenders, MIA are really a different thing altogether.
 13.
My wife left on Saturday to be with the in laws...won't be back till Wednesday, so a VERY Merry Christmas to me.. Beer, Football........and silence..
You lucky b*stard!!! I'm joking of course No dear, really I am...
 14. I thought the crud getting into the strings was what gave them the tone It takes that nasty 'new string' brightness away anyway...
 15.
http://www.bassic.co.uk/
I've been needing some new cables for ages now... That looks like an excellent site, I'll be ordering
 16.
...I'm on here almost every day
Me too, much to my wifes irritation
 17.
I just saw that .... I cant put my finger on it, but it just doesnt look "right" to me
That's what I felt too... I thought the s/plate looked wrong, but I'm no Fender expert
 18. Hi guys, how does this look to you? Shouldn't it have screw holes for the bridge & p/up covers in the body? eBay item number - 180194329600
 19.
...also bass forums are a great rescource as we all need help sometime or another.
Right! For me this forum is the best place to get really good advice on anything to do with bass... Try that at your local branch of Sound Control
 20.
Anyway hope you like the pics, the sound is killer!
That looks absolutely beautiful!
 21.
I personally don't find this forum half as friendly as it was back in the bassworld days.
I remember BW (I was only there for a short while before the move to BC), and it *was* friendly, but smaller... Maybe the two are connected? Anyway, I think the thing is to be tolerant of peoples sometimes provocative views. The freedom to express oneself, within *some* limits, is what it's all about. If it gets too cosy I think it becomes dull. There's the real value of BC, getting advice, information, etc. then there's the entertainment, two very different things. If they can coexist then so much the better, but over moderation can stifle the life out of a community. These things have a way of sorting themselves out, the best thing to do with over provocative posters is just ignore
 22.
Yup that's the fella, a guy named Guy Morel has been most helpful too.
I've called Guy on a number of occasions, usually with dumb questions I never passed physics 'O' Level, so sometimes they really were dumb! He's always been really helpful... talking me through stuff I should know. As none of my Ashdown gear has ever broken down I've not needed spares. But just try getting that level of personal attention from various other companies.
 23. Apologies if this is slightly off topic, but... The best Fender I've ever had was a Crafted in Japan '62 Reissue Jazz. It was way better than MIM, and quite a lot better than various MIA's. Which kinda begs the question 'What is a Fender, and does it matter?' 'Cos a CIJ Fender is really a Tokai... isn't it?
 24.
ENJOY!
FANTASTIC!!! I laughed so much I thought I was gonna throw up The crackles are pure genius...
 25. I'd love an 8 string, but a 12 just repeats the octave string... which seems a bit daft to me!
