1.
Wazz, I can think of several reasons why they MIGHT have done it but dont know whay they ACTUALLY did it..... I guess the only way to find that out for sure might be to email them, unless there is a Fnederhead on here that can come up with the goods?
I have a '96 Deluxe Jazz with the '5 in a row' Gotoh machines, and I reckon it looks much better than the '4 + 1' arrangement... Maybe Fender wanted a Musicman vibe to the headstock?
2. OK, after a little consideration I bought a Boss BF-3. Which sounds awesome! I'd certainly recommend it.
3. I bought a Ric 4003, I was like a kid with a new toy... UntilI realised that the bloody thing just didn't work for me. It was beautiful, classy, had a great sound, I loved it. But I just didn't get on with it playing fingerstyle... I wanted it to work, but it didn't... Doesn't stop me wanting one though. Maybe next year ;-)
4. Great Bass moment for sure! Makes you kinda proud ;-)
5. Dean should be ashamed of putting *guitar* humbuckers on a cool bass like this one... what cheapskates!!!
6. It really annoys the hell out of me... A great example was the Who at Glasto. Pino wasn't even in close up during one of the bass breaks in 'My Generation'
7. Thanks for all the excellent info. guys... That's exactly why I love this forum ;-)
8. OK, I admit that I don't *really* know what it is I need, but... I think it's a Phaser or a Flanger. Swooshing sounds are what I want. For 2 note chords as well as single notes. Very 70's I guess, space rock type sounds. Any recomendations on a single pedal? Thanks guys ;-)
9. Really beautiful... Thanks for the link.
10.
A crap bassline IMHO is one that actually detracts from a song. Something that Mark King has been guilty of at times.
Funny you should mention MK... most of his basslines are good, But some of the solos seem to loose the timing and the groove.
11. I'd stick to the 4 x 10 cab if that's what sounds good to you! It's your gear, so what's it got to do with the band? Seems strange to me that they think *your* gear is *their* buisiness ;-)
12.
Can one of the mods make this thread a sticky titled "Don't drink and drill"
13. Gawd, no wonder he's selling it... what a mess ;-)
14. All I can say is *wow!* I would love one of those... memories of 'Wheels of Fire' era Cream come to mind, or was that all Gibson basses that JB played? I'm sure I remember higher notes in his playing...
15.
No keep the ATK400 - you'll regret it if you sell it. Find the money to fund the GAS some other way..
I gotta agree - the ATK is really worth keeping. There's always loads of Jazz basses around... One'll turn up when you have the cash to spend.
16.
Had an Ashdown Perfect 10.....OK really low down but anything over 5-6 on the master and past 2-3 o'clock on the bass it farted badly even with a passive JB, cant comment on the Orange
Are there any *small* combos that really do everything well? Or is that just too much to expect? I know absolutely nothing about electronics/acoustics... But if a stack works beautifully with 4 x 10" speakers, Why can't a small 1 x 10" combo sound just as good? Or am I revealing my stunning ignorance ;-)
17. Hi guys, I need to get a reasonable practice amp, not for gigging, just home use. I've narrowed it down to these two, any opinions on their relative qualities? I'd like the low B to come through well, no farting about please ;-) I've an Ashdown rig for gigging, so it'd just need to reach home jamming levels. Of course I can't find a local shop with either of them in stock... Apologies if this has been covered before ;-)
18. Mindbending ;-)
19. I'm looking for a place to try out the 35w combo as a practice amp... But it's difficult finding a shop that has one in stock. Any opinions would be good!
20.
Obviously I blanked out David - any idea why? Horrible thing to happen anyway, but just passing out like that would worry me more than the result.
I didn't pass out, more like didn't pay attention to the job in hand... Only been in the house a few weeks, and not used to steep Victiorian staircases.
21.
could have been worse, could have got MRSA at A&E
That's exactly what was on my mind pretty much the whole time I was there. I kept a *very* close eye on the procedures. Still worried though...
22. You're right - thinking about it, it could've been *much* worse... Broken crockery is razor sharp, a cut artery or tendon ;-( I don't even want to think about it... infront of the kids too. Anyway, sincere thanks for the good wishes - cheered me up no end!
23. It all starts at 08-30 Weds morning, I decide to be a giood husband and collect the half a dozen or so coffee mugs from around the house, I walk to the top of the stairs to go down to the kitchen. Obviously I blanked out, fell down the stairs, coffee all up the walls, I'm winded, but ok (I think...) Get up, numb right foot... 5 out of 6 of the mugs have broken in the fall, one of them has sliced my little toe three quarters of the way around its base, down to the bone. [Top Ten hit], I get in the bath, it's not bleeding much, but I reckon I need medical help... so I drive to the 'NHS Walk in Centre' who take one look and send me to A&E. After an X ray they say I have an open fracture, and to do the necessary stiches they have to inject anasthetic into the open wound... It *did* hurt! The nurse doing the sutures then pipes up that I'm his first ever suture patient... dunno who was more worried, him or me. Now I can't walk, I'm on goddam anti-biotics, which I hate (open fracture, see), I'm off work and I have to wear *sandals*!!! How does the song go? Oh yeah, 'things can only get better' - hmmmm....
24. That is just *so* beautiful...
A nice vintage brown tortoiseshell would be nice
I reckon that this one's too 'corporate' looking... Seriously, how about more organic colours, brown, light brown etc? Kinda like a natural ash bodied Jazz with a tort. scratchplate... Or am I just being a pretentious graphics type ;-)
