Just out of interest, what have the old bridge-cover holes been filled with? Are they screws, or some kind of stud
It looks like the fitting screws have been left in... I know they're good (functionally) but that Badass looks out of place on a gorgeous '62 -
Buy secondhand Ashdown ABM gear... Get a ABM500 Head and a 4 x 10" cab. Then buy another 4 x 10" cab or a 1 x 15" cab later for the full 575 watts
It's going to be a long and expensive journey to find my ideal setup!
No it's not, just try a few amps/cabs/combos... With an open mind something will sound right As much more erudite posters than me have said, it's personal, adjectives don't work!!! And brands don't all sound the same, I don't think cliche's are helpful to anyone here. If Ashdowns were woolly why would MK have a signature head? Or John Entwistle? etc. etc. Like any amp they can sound enormously different depending on the EQ, the bass, the strings, the player. There are also so many variables and personal interpretations of sound that it has to be up to you...

What have you got that you just CAN'T let go?
David Nimrod replied to FJ1200's topic in General Discussion
I've got a big cardboard box labeled 'Just add Bike' in marker pen; I packed it up about 5 years ago when I sold my last motorcycle. In it are:- helmet, gloves, boots, leather trousers, leather jacket. One day I'll do what it says on the box, and I can't sell the stuff -
Seeing as I just play 4 string now, these two are up for sale. Ibanez SRX705 Neck thru, natural, new Elixirs, new Ibanez hardcase, immaculate. Hohner B2AV Neck thru, walnut satin, new Rockbag softcase, brilliant, punchy sound. If anyone's interested, just PM me No trades thanks - just make a reasonable offer.
At the grand old age of 44 I have NEVER played live, and never really played with other people either. I'm a multi-instrumentalist who is a sad old bedroom player. At my age I seriously don't think I'd have the confidence to play anything with other people. It's too bad as I have recently (the last two months or so) really got into bass playing in a big way like never before. I think that bass would be what I would want to play now in my 'dreamworld' of playing with other people.
All I can say to that is:- If I can do it, you can do it. Now go and do it!!! -
I'm not sure elementary A level Economics applies to Bass Guitars, firstly we're all nuts here ! and secondly we buy on emotion and try to justify with logic - not the other way around !
+1 to that
You've still got it all ahead of you Dave see your friend as an inspiration, work out what it is about his playing that dusts your broom. You'll get there!
Thanks for more positive words! The gloom is slowly lifting... Van Morrison sung about it:- Well it's in my blood and it's in my veins Here it comes again, when I'm in the rain In the wind and rain, well the sun don't shine Well it's always mine, all of the time Melancholia, melancholia, melancholia And it's in my life and it's all the time It doesn't go away when the church bells chime In the evening time when I drink my wine In the evening time when it's on my mind Melancholia, melancholia, melancholia -
don't give up! there's probably plenty of things that i should or shouldn't have done, but i don't regret any of them. that's not me being big headed and arrogant, that's me saying, "it's too late to be worrying about all that now". I reckon stuff happens for a reason - if there was something i should or shouldn't have done, it would have happened
Thanks for the positive words I need to take a more fatalistic attitude I reckon!
