Price or Trade Value : £25 Bought this ages ago to fix up, never got 'round to it and am unlikely to! Everything's there (the active electronics don't actually work, but it'd be easier to rig it up passive anyway), so it's worth more than I'm asking even to break up for parts; MIGHT need a re-fret in the not-too-distant (or someone who knows what they're doing could probably convert it to fretless). One of these, in the metallic deep red (although the finish is shagged, the last owner seems to have made an abortive attempt at removing it): http://basschat.co.uk/uploads/monthly_03_2011/post-7540-1299764469.jpg I'll get some pics of the actual thing tonight, just suddenly crossed my mind that I still had it now!

Vintage basses are superb
Evening all, I'm hoping for some advice for a new mixing desk. Our Behringer has dropped so many channels we may as well not bother any longer, so being the bass player/pa guy I have to find something to replace it. With all our gubbins for monitoring plugged in we need 2 x guitar, 1 x bass (of course!) and 4 x vox inputs, and preferably 5 outputs for monitor mixes.
The '5 monitor outputs' will be the stumbling block here - so you actually use five separate monitor mixes? wow...personally (and I'm biased because I used to work for them) I couldn't recommend anything higher than a secondhand Studiomaster Trilogy 166 for that spec, although it doesn't have in-built effects so you'd need an outboard reverb unit if that's something you use. Mackie and Allen&Heath are also good shouts, but on sheer build quality I'd still have a Trilogy if I could find one - they're getting quite rare these days.

My eyes are getting worse but I can't see myself being able to pull off specs onstage only need 'em for driving, cinema etc at the moment but it's getting to the point where I can't recognise people from the stage (so might struggle to read the 'I love Ian' banners at the enormodomes in a couple of years ), need to look at contacts really.

To echo a few comments already made, 'context is everything'! Back when I was doing pretty traditional classic/sleaze rock stuff I found the idea of any more than four strings abhorrant (mainly because they wouldn't look right ), but now I'm in a more modern rock band with the guitars tuned down to C it makes a lot more sense for me to have a five-string tuned up a semitone than a four-string tuned down two tones (access to higher notes, easier to find basses 'ready-to-use' rather than having to re-string and cut nuts, availability of more notes across the fingerboard and chords). Whatever works best for you is 'best', so by all means give a five a try and see how you get one with it - borrow one or pick up a sub-£100 cheapy from eBay and find out for yourself!
Smallest I've been able to find in a "foldaway" style is this 5-way from Warwick - http://www.gak.co.uk...tand-case/34534
Hmmmm...that particular one would be no use to us, somehow has a bigger footprint than the Stagg! I KNEW I'd seen a three-way one somewhere, turns out Warwick do or did them: http://www.mercatinomusicale.com/mm/a_rockstand-rs-20857b-1-stand-porta-chitarre_id2601517.html - shall drop GAK an email asking if they have access to the three-ways, then a straight sale might indeed be on the cards!

It's actually really good, same capsule as used on AKG's clip-on drum mics (C419, I think?) but drawing its power from the belt pack instead of from the desk's phantom. Comes with a little windshield as well, which I found really useful for reducing 'breathiness' - I'd say certainly as good as anything else you'd get sub-£200.

Just got one of these: http://www.bonnersmusic.co.uk/stagg-music-gdc6-guitar-rack.ir?cName=guitars-amps-guitar-stands&src=froogle&gclid=CKipvo3Z0rYCFSXLtAodbScAIw Brand new with tags, but we only need to fit three or four guitars in there and it takes up too much stage space! Anyone got a three or four way one and need to fit an extra instrument or two? condition unimportant, but it MUST be one of the foldy-up-into-a-case type jobs, we've got too much stuff floating around the van as it is...

Awesome little practise amp with enough welly for rehearsals or very small gigs if your drummer isn't Animal - this one's in very good condition and sounds great. I've thieved the pictures but shall get some proper ones when I've found the charger for my camera! http://www.roland.co.uk/products/productdetails.aspx?p=416&tab=Features&page=audio £45 collected from South Birmingham, or we can talk postage!

Perfect for your singing drummers () - a C410 with the B9 battery/preamp beltpack - well-used for backing vocals when I was drumming, but still works perfectly! The angle adjustment isn't great (it's all intact, just the rotating clamp isn't 100%) so it's kind of held in place with tape at the minute for extra stability, does the job - it'll come complete with a balanced jack to XLR cable to run from the beltpack to mixing desk too. Forty quid delivered, can knock a fiver off if you can collect (south Birmingham).

Fab little 2-in / 2-out interface, simple as you like with phantom power and balanced I/O - inputs are combination XLR / 1/4" jack with an 'instrument' switch for connecting guitars, outputs balanced 1/4". Gain controls for inputs, monitor and headphone output levels and a 'mix' control to blend your direct input signal with the output from your computer for zero-latency monitoring; superb no-frills way to get into recording. http://www.musicradar.com/gear/tech/computers-software/peripherals/input-devices/audio-interfaces/link-usb-24-bit-usb-21564 Fifty squid delivered or thereabouts for this, no box or discs unfortunately but I'll include a top-notch Belkin USB cable.
