1. Cheeky edit - I've actually just found some monies I forgot I had, I'll take the Korg if no-one else has! PM incoming...
2.
And in any case, without dissenting opinion we wouldn't have a debate - isn't that why we're all here?
I was told there would be cake.
3. Mmm, potentially interested in the Korg; lemme check monies and get back to you...
4.
the ultimate power trio
On the bass...the holy ghost...he wrote this...
5. Thinking about moving back to a combo setup as I'm struggling to heft gear around now I've a dose of tendonitus and an unreliable car; hence tentatively on the block is this Marshall DBS 7015 1x15", 8 ohm, 200W (but 200 PROPER Watts ) cab. It's been pretty well gigged so the tolex has seen better days, but it's by no means thrashed and it works perfectly; after £120 or thereabouts. Details: http://www.marshallamps.com/heritage/dbs/dbs_02.asp I also happen to have a Castle Cases flightcase for a 4x10" guitar cab which fits the Marshall PERFECTLY, which I could be tempted to move on with it; not sure whether I'm set on getting rid of this or not though as it will apparently also nicely fit an Ashdown ABM combo which is one of my options for combo-hunting. So if you fancy the Marshall and a brilliant flightcase for it make me an offer I can't understand for both (flightcase internal dims are 600mm W x 660mm H x 380mm deep). Shall get photos of both tomorrow, and I'm in South Birmingham (I imagine a courier would cost a bit for this, particularly in the case).
6. Also PM'd re. dimensions; if this'll fit atop my 1x15" I may well be interested!
7.
Would you be willing to post?
Yep, could do so (preferably in the hard case to keep it safe...)
8. Just realised I still haven't taken any pics quick bump to remind myself tomorrow!
9. 'Won' this via eBay to fix up and use for a new project, and sadly am not looking like having the time to fix it up nor the project to use it for - I'll get some pictures of the bits in my possession later, and I'm only after covering my costs on this so fifty quid plus the postage! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300669289997?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
10. Not sure of the model, it's a passive electro-acoustic in a quite nice green-blue burst. Now then, this is cheap and cheerful for a couple of reasons - as you can see from the pics, it's in well-used condition (a fair few dings and superficial scratches), although fully functional and structurally sound (the frets are in really good nick too, and it it has a brand new set of Martin 12-gauge strings on it). The other thing is that the under-saddle piezo wasn't connected when I got it (and my soldering sadly isn't fine enough to wire it up), so I've simply attached a soundboard piezo and wired it into the guitar's volume and tone controls. So, a workhorse electro-acoustic perfect for open mic nights, jams, barbecues etc; pictures: I'm after a mere fifty quid collected from Birmingham, or seventy quid with the Gator hardcase pictured (which has a crack on one corner, but is also structurally sound and a decent enough fit to keep the guitar well-protected, if not perfect).
11. With the way my tendonitus is going I'm looking at having to take a potentially substantial break from guitar, so looking for someone to take my place in Chaos Parade, a four-piece guitar/keys/bass/drums alternative/indie type band based around Birmingham. There's a few bits and pieces of music on the band's FaceBook page to give you an idea; the rest of the guys are into stuff like Bombay Bicycle Club, The National, U2 and with the original material we've been producing I've been playing with quite a lot of effects (delay, tremolo, shades of distortion/fuzz). https://www.facebook.com/chaosparade The other guys are all late teens-mid 20s, but I'm 30 so age isn't an overriding concern; the band currently rehearse at the Oxygen Rooms in the Jewellery Quarter but that might be negotiable southwards (the bassist and drummer come in from Worcester kinda way). Any other info you might need give me a shout - there's some rough recordings kicking around but nothing that's been properly mixed yet.
12. The Blacklist Saints are looking for a capable, reliable drummer (age 20-40) in the West Midlands (likely to be rehearsing in either Coventry or Birmingham, possibly at a place on the A45 between the two). Pretty full-on rock type stuff with a few interesting/tricky time changes and fills for the right drummer to get his/her teeth into; as Joe Perry said, let the music do the talking: http://www.reverbnation.com/theblacklistsaints https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Blacklist-Saints/212915015466888 Hit me up if you want any more details or contacts (probably better to email me as I'm not always around these parts - iansavagemusic at gmail dot com)!
13.
It's generally a good way to spot someone who's probably a bit of a w***er.
Altered for accuracy
14. While we're on this subject, could someone who's got one of these be incredibly kind and measure the depth of it for me when folded please? Would have a need for one and if it'll fit in the 10cm or so that's available down the back of my cab in its flightcase that'd be the icing on the cake...
15. Flightcased cab with a barstool either side of it - makes a perfect table. Yes, I live alone.
16.
Nice Tele.....
Cheers man; 'tis a bitsa with a Squier neck and a haven't-got-a-clue body, Iron Gear Steel Twin humbucker in the bridge - I loves it, I does
17.
Even the smallest venue in Academy has a dedicated desk for monitoring. I was quite surprised to find that as well actually, its all top notch soundcraft stuff as well, and quality engineers. Liam
Still a pro venue, the Academys in Birmingham are the same - I've seen some bands in very surprisingly small rooms (The Backyard Babies in the Academy 3 springs to mind, and Terrorvision in a tiny little place in Milton Keynes), but I guess that their tech riders will still stipulate a separate monitor desk and decent-quality gear. Certainly easier to work with, but as you're then almost obliged to have a second engineer for every gig (or repatch the system) I can see why most mid-sized places don't bother.
18. Very nice bit of kit, in excellent condition; has a low-cut switch and 20dB pad built-in, which is handy. Got an offer I couldn't refuse on a Rode NT1 and can't justify having two LDCs around the place - £50? I'll get a proper pic tonight, but it's one of these: http://www.akg.com/site/products/powerslave,id,1054,nodeid,2,_language,EN,pid,1054.html
19.
A good way to get around this, like they do at Manchester Academy (3 and Club are the only ones i've seen so far) which is use a splitter snake, to send the original signal to FOH and the monitor desk too. Seems to work pretty well for them and they always seem to have a good sound both on and off stage. Liam
That'll be how almost all 'pro' venues do it, but I've not come across all that many 'mid-sized' places (read: a few hundred or so capacity) with a dedicated monitor desk. Roadhouse in Birmingham is a notable exception.
20. The best funk band I've been introduced to in years is Galactic; often smooth, usually groovy, always funky, have a listen to their 'From The Corner To The Block' album, if love it
