2.
"You play bass on that? You're braver than I thought"
You can only play Solos on it. [/stolen joke]
  3.
The only part of the spec where it falls down is the DI out. This is pre eq & effects loop only which I just don't understand - wouldn't have taken much to put a pre-post switch on the amp. Re the DI 'issue', OK I might not be truly happy, but 99% happy & GAS free ain't a bad place to be in!!!
I strongly suspect that could be modded fairly easily and cheaply by someone with half a clue what they're doing to at least set it post-EQ, if not build in a pre/post switch. I reckon I'd be able to do it, that's how simple it should be
  4. I've had the brainwave of combining my bass and six-string cabs into one monster bass rig using a crossover to blend some dirt into the guitar cab; there's NO WAY that this isn't an awesome idea. So, yes, I suspect I'll be very happy with my rig as long as it works.
  5. If I hadn't just driven halfway around the country to pick up a 1x15" and a 12-string guitar I'd be all over this
  6.
Yes! This looks perfect! First response to the thread and you've nailed it. I love this place Are there any alternatives worth considering? Edit: I've just noticed the 'mix' portion of X&M is mixing the relative levels of the high and low bands - I was after mixing the effected signal with the clean, which is a slightly different kettle of fish. If that pedal had a master wet/dry knob it'd be perfect
Surely you could just adjust the output level of your dirt pedal to achieve the same effect?
http://www.sfxsound.co.uk/mainpage.asp?page=xm any good?
I was just going to post exactly that; the idea of using my guitar 4x10" for the high end of my signal and blending some distortion in while running a clean low end through my 1x15" is becoming VERY appealing.
  8.
The X&M had to go back to SFX for a repair, but Martinski has called dibs on it when it returns in full working order. I can give you a shout if things don't work out as planned, but it's looking like a done deal at the moment. Cheers Scott
Cool as man, PM me with a price if it doesn't work out!
  9. Did the X&M go in the end?

    Compresser

I always tended to use compression live, as much for speaker protection as for anything audible.
  11. Well, a couple of bargains from these parts are getting me back into playing bass again, so I'm thinking I'll go back to just one electroacoustic. Bought this not long ago, needed a bit of a clean, setup, new strings etc which I've done, now plays very nicely (action's a shade on the high side but that's mainly due to me fitting it with 13s, slap some 12s on there and it'll be back down low enough for dusty-end fingerpicking; personally I was simply going for a big open-chord strumming machine, in which capacity it's currently superb). Very good condition, one tiny dink on the front of the body and one on the back of the neck around the 6th fret (both too small to photograph) and a larger dink on the rear of the headstock (pictured). Aside from that it's very clean and tidy, preamp's got a built-in tuner which I'm REALLY going to miss when I go back to just my Tanglewood; plugged it in at an open mic night last week and was very pleasantly surprised, not a 'Martin with LR Baggs' type sound but more than serviceable and the preamp EQ's very good. Pics: Be looking at £150 or thereabouts for this, which seems to be the going eBay rate; for collection I'm Birmingham/Staffordshire way, or could post it (I've got a slightly damaged Gator acoustic hardcase, which is actually for a dreadnaught but I could bubblewrap the Yam securely into it, which'd keep the thing more protected for shipping; would throw that in for another £20). Great little electro, but can't justify the amount of gear I've got coming in without SOMETHING going out!
  12. The Yammy'll be fine, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised. If you want the security of having your own bass with you, have you considered detaching the neck and bubble-wrapping the whole thing in a bag to take as carry-on luggage?
  13.
Tomorrow might be a bit too late notice to cancel my plans, sorry dude. Drop me a PM if you can get another day sorted
No problem, I've since realised that I'm supposed to be going out for a bite with me brother tomorrow afternoon anyway, which if it goes according to form will leave me unable to drive legally I'm away this weekend Friday & Saturday, but Sunday evening might be do-able?
  14.
Shellshock?
Good work
  15. Colour me very interested, should hear back from the letting agents later today that all's well and they're fully refunding my deposit & rent overpayment, if it's as much as I think it should be I'll have it. Lovely looking-thing, although I'd NEVER have thought I'd go for that colour - there doesn't seem to be much in it between Sonic Blue and Daphne Blue as things go? http://www.fender.com/en-GB/support/colorc...lue&color=5
  16.
Sorry, the bridge cover is excluded also.
That's just answered my very next question I take it the neck fits the pocket snugly etc, no lateral movement or owt? I'm more interested than I should be given finances, but should be due back a fair wedge of rent overpayment from the place I've just moved out from which should more than cover this...
  17. Must...not...be...tempted...ah, sod it, is it the neck pictured in the link?
  18. Sweet as, I'll drop you a PM; possibly tomorrow?
  19. Facking hell, that wood looks like total crap; I'd bin it/keep it as a trophy to be honest, with a weather eye on eBay you'd pick up a replacement for less than the repair'd cost.
  20. Think my avatar shows mine that said, doing anything technically demanding I do pull it up to around belly-button height.
