2. Quick bump, power supply sold but I've still got the Metaphors should anyone want it - fifty quid delivered?
3. On a cheap and cheerful tip (as I am a cheap and cheerful guy), the Danelectro Wasabi Drive has a blend control and is (apparently) quite similar in sound to a Sparkle Drive; I've had the former but not the latter so can't authenticate, but it's rather good anyway.
4. I'm having a bluesy/Stonesy week, so- Charlie Watts - drums Me - bass Franz Nicolay - keys Tom Waits - vocals/piano/whatever he bloody wants to do Keith Richards - guitar/vocals Ian Siegal - guitar/vocals To be honest, I'd rather be playing guitar or drums, but it's MY fantasy lineup and they're all better than me.
5. Ooohhhh, colour me interested too - is it one of the sunburst ones?
6. Welcome aboard! Who was the bass player in White Zombie back in the day? Seem to remember her being, well, female...
7. Whereabouts are ya Sam? Might be able to find a use for this if you're close enough for me to grab it...
8.
"Ow bin ya?" Your Black Country cousin.
Owya Bin Keepin, Osama's man in the Midlands.
9. Welcome to the low end There seems to be a deluge of West Midlands/Black Country bass types joining up here of late, clearly the bassiest part of the country
10. The amp SHOULD have the power requirements on the back, somewhere near the IEC lead attachment; if it doesn't, yep, go with what's above.
11.
On basses like the AFB and Stylist, the bridge is quite far forward on the body... is there any reason it can't be pulled back towards the tailpiece?
Well, every single note on the neck would be utterly out of tune, but apart from that...
12.
my padded strap goes straight over my left shoulder, and I had to play my last gig on pain killers ;-(. Recording sessions are fine, but live OUCH.. I'm worried at the mo as I don't like taking pain killers to gig, but the pain is on the top part of my shoulder, my next gig is on friday and I'm considering using a stool..
I had a similar problem when I fractured my collarbone in a motorbike accident a few years back; to be honest, even with the lightest bass I had at the time (a short-scale Tanglewood semi) playing it strapped-on for more than ten minutes or so was simply impossible, ended up on a stool (well, actually a flightcase in the end, which looked far cooler )
13. The covers band I drum for use 'Rocks' by Primal Scream a lot as an opener, works well.
14.
He's built like a wrestler!
Probably a bit skinnier than that now.
15.
Jesus! Who's that?
Pete Steele, frontman/bass player of Type O Negative; died aged 48 last year, sadly, but was 6'8" and built like a brick shithouse.
16. He'd be fighting from beyond the grave, but I reckon there'd be few who'd make better undead; and having met the guy back in the mid-90s, I can confirm he was a f***ing MOUNTAIN of a bloke:
17.
The champion's down! One roundhouse kick and it's all over. Who's stepping up next?
Only one I can pull off the top of my head, don't know how well he'd stand up to JJ though...
18.
I would assume it gives some support to the top of instruments that have hollow or semi-hollow bodies.
Yep, the trapeze-style tailpieces certainly (like the ones wot I posted) mean there's less vertical force on the top, which would probably pull a traditional-style bridge right out of a hollowbody.
19. Dean Stylist, I want one EDIT: Ibanez AFB200 as well; I'm assuming if it's a project you won't want to be spending Gretsch money
20. Man, that would look the nuts with a black pickguard and the P-body/J-neck combo I LOVE...you don't need a pair of small-diaphragm condenser mics do you?
21.
science teacher?
Sorta Actually, how do you know that?
22. Not one of our best songs, not one of my more active performances, but this was pretty much de riguer back in the day: Actually got sacked from that band for moving around too much Oh, and one of the dancers ended up being the mother of my child, so be careful with the comments
23.
Ian, that would be great mate, many thanks C
Done!
