1.
I won't quibble over the "dismal sounding" bit but I'm amazed anyone can think they're underpowered. I never have to turn them past about 3 or 4 on the dial before they get to the "drown out everyone else" stage...
Yeah, seconded. There's a reason they used to be so popular on the sludge scene - you could get some right noise out of them! The worst combo we have in our rehearsal space is an Ashdown. You can't get any volume out of it, despite the pretence of power and it just won't shape up - leaving me hoping to beat others to the Hiwatt or Peavey!
 2.
Doesn't bother me too much. You can all say what you want, at least me and my old man share an interest and get on really well, that means me to me than all the bass guitars on the planet.
Good call, chief. Did he teach you to play, or did you arrive at it for yourself?
 3.
And especially since so many of those bassists use a lot of distortion/drive that their sound blends in with those 7 & 8 string downtuned distorted/driven guitars.
I think that's a fair comment.
 4. Unsure. Did see some go on Ebay for £500, but not recently - but suspect you could get higher. Am looking for one, so PM me when you post your ad.
 5.
I am and enjoyed so much more than expected. Might have to check out the recent album
I was in the same boat. Really good show, glad I managed to catch it

 16.
I wonder if they'll make me a aluminum or carbon fibre neck?
Oh, I imagine they would. Just out of what, would be the question
 17. I'll give this a little bump. No Gibsons? No Jags or Precisions for this?
 18. Is one a Fodera? You'll upset Molan!
 19.
Doesn't that vid make you feel silly if you're in the habit of saying a p bass neck is too wide for you?
20. I want this, but I'm a bit like you, Nick - trying to let some go!
 21. Some great copy on the site - really put my mind at rest:
You know, it’s impossible for us to purchase all the original guitars: some are too expensive, some has deceased to produce. But we bought lots of public blueprints, we are not very clear about the origin of these blueprints, and we also don’t make sure of their accuracy. We spent lots of money on them, and we know there will be differences between the original and our guitars, but we will try our best to replicate the guitar as similar as the original!
22.
I don't think anyone has said that the more you spend the better something gets? All I'm doing is pointing out that there is a significant difference between 'overpriced' as an adjective and 'expensive'. In simple terms my understanding of overpriced is that something has been deliberately marked/sold at a price well beyond both its intrinsic worth and its functional or aesthetic value. Expensive is a much more subjective term and open to a far wider interpretation. My thoughts are that there are quite a few expensive instruments out there but, in most cases, I can understand why they are priced at a high level because of materials and manufacturing costs. Meanwhile there are way more overpriced instruments on the market that have been produced cheaply and then marked up by a significantly higher margin because of 'perceived' value / brand heritage / clever marketing / dealer incentives etc. etc.
Good post. There is a significant difference between expensive and overpriced - and, of course, both are again in large measure subjective value judgements. I do wonder if there isn't an elephant in the room with us.
