Finally got around to taking those pics! Does come with an official Musicman case - dog included for scale!
If you ever think about actually buying a Mockingbird, Gus, I would strongly recommend trying it on a strap before you part with any money . In my experience , they are one of the most badly balanced and uncomfortable basses ever. You are much better off with your Eagle in terms of playability . A Mockingbird does look amazing , though .
Yeah. I did have a cheaper, modern version - and the balance was hideous! Still, what a looker! Koa Eagle would be nice, though. Now I have the cash, you never see them!

Ok, manic days thanks to East Coast, but managed to get home to grab a few shots...
I already own mine:
In much the same boat, with my BC Rich Eagle. Would love a year-of-birth Mockingbird, mind. That would probably be my wallet-burster.
But it does follow the music rules a lot of the time, otherwise I couldn't go out as a freelance and nail it.
Maybe that's back to perception, then
Its just to wind up Bilbo
Absolutely. Nige, did you not get the email? I think Clarky has it nailed. I think it's part politics of identity and a perception that has developed around Jazz. It doesn't follow the musical rules; it has a perception of exclusivity, of intellectualism and manner that isn't open to everyone; and it's a feedback loop, that has begun to play back upon itself, and many us on the outside are happy to live with the parody Also, to annoy Bilbo.
I can hear the tune in my head. I then work out how to play it on whatever instrument I'm currently using.
Pow! Yeah, I'm of this mould - I'll normally hum it; and hit the bass to actually work it all out.
Carrying on the Alembic theme, I fancy a Brown bass or Stanley Clarke ... but would have to weigh under 10 pounds given my dodgy back
I do have an Alembic on my "things to own before I drop" list, a black Spoiler - which I think you used to have, a la Jason Newsted. I quite like the look of the new Fender Dimenion, or at least the American Delxue version; and the new Starcaster. However, I think it's more time for a clear-out than a spree

I really like this, good vibe to it

Evening all. Musicman Bongo Stealth for sale or trade. Comes with official Musicman hardcase. Very nice bass, eminently playable - but far too nice for some of the dives we play these days! Trade-wise, much the same as before:

Gibson (no shortscales)
Fender Precision, Jag or Jazz
Pics to follow tomorrow

Paging Molan. Anyway, chin up - I have no idea how some of us can take these discussions quite so personally. Let's keep it on the right side of classy, BC.

Wow, very nice - and quite some technique. I've no idea how you master that.
Maybe try to place Napalm Death in their historic perspective?
Seconded! It'll make a lot more sense. Remember seeing them at Bradford Rios, a long time ago... was deaf for days

I think we need to see it in action now!
Is it? I didn't know that. I only had a 'Ray for 5 mins as it was way to heavy for me.
My brain went straight to Chic and Edwards, mind

I thought the classic Stingray sound was flats, anyway?
Starcasters must come with a free beard
Sold! Seriously, though - the feedback for these new Fenders seems universally positive.
I've sold on Gumtree and Preloved, but I'm hyper honest and if ever I want to buy something not near home, I ask them to use Skype and try to gauge things that way. I even suggest it if i'm selling as well. If they wont use it, then that's a finisher for me. Not perfect, but it all helps.
Haha, that's not a bad idea, and made me cast my mind back. I did once make a YouTube video for a BC'er, wanting to have a further "look" at a bass I was selling. It's not a bad idea, to show people around the instrument - and with Skype, you can always ask questions.
Ask someone here who lives near there to check it out.
Agreed, not a bad idea - particularly if the price tag is reasonably big. Find someone whose opinion you trust, and ask them to take a look; sure, the risk is still yours, but you might get a little reassurance.
