  1. Going to order strings tomorrow, the Sabre came with stainless steel 45-105 which aren’t my cup of tea.
  2. It’s about 10.4lbs. Id suspect half of that is the bridge and control plate/pickups and knobs. it doesn’t feel boat anchor esque though - feels vibrant and solid. The necks on the classics are insanely pretty. Wal looks well, I await the NBD thread.
  3. Pop up for a brew mate - only a 4 hour drive. Kettle’s on…😉
  4. No. Really manageable actually… this and the 414 weigh and balance super closely.
  5. Yeah, I suppose the “acoustic” test relates to feedback in the left/fretting hand - which is all part of the experience. no what effect that has on the plugged in tone is down to which side of that particular fence you sit on. I know where I sit, so I’m putting the tin opener away. I’m very distracted by new arrival though.
  6. Even more so when this arrives…
  7. More reserved than I expected. last arrival of 2021 is a belter.
  8. In fairness, Mark and Ashley turned the minor concern into pure joy at 10.45am…
  9. It’s here. I confirm…it has a weight. needs my preferred strings etc and a tweak to my taste. it is lovely
  10. I’m off work now until new year. I want to watch it again…
  11. Oh god… Tune TXJ-4 in and out Dean edge pro in and out Yamaha bb350f x 3 in and out Yamaha Bb424x x 3 in and out Yamaha bb450 in and out Yamaha bb1300 in and out Yamaha bb300 in and out Yamaha SB-55 in and out Spector Euro LX in and out Yamaha Pacifica (one in, one out) Yamaha AEX in and out Alvarez Baritone in and out cordoba classical in and out Tobias Toby Pro in and out (tomorrow) Sadowsky HPJ out ebs 410 out ebs Reidmar out Yamaha bb1600 in Fender Aerodyne in Musicman Sabre in Fleabass (green toy thing) in Ashdown mk500 in Vanderklay 212 in ahem. I think that’s about right.
  12. Vista Series (guitars not basses) I think. Venus and Supersonic (think the music master basses were Chinese?)
  13. I still have the originals 😉
  14. Hmm. well… Another option is to list both and keep whatever doesn’t sell 😂
  15. Got the 414 which is remarkably close to the 1600, sonically…just doesn’t feel in the same league…
  16. Can do that. Will sort. Mrs T is out tomorrow getting her first (and hopefully only) tattoo which means I’ve got loads of time.
  17. Yeah. Need exact same brand and age strings on them…
  18. So, I’m about to receive a bass I’ve been chasing for a while (Musicman Sabre Classic) And I have an abundance of posh P/J’s. And realistically, won’t see as much action as the other - I’m not skint, but not wealthy enough to have several £1000 basses hanging around unused “just in case”. Yamaha 1986/Japan - warmth (acoustically) and that old resonance only 30 years or so can bring… Fender 2014/Japan - snaps acoustically, slimmer neck…sounds phenomenal plugged in, silent. Yamaha has 60 cycle hum on solo…but loves a bit of drive… Both Japanese, both “rare” BB1600 is worth more…
