  1. Love that colour
  2. Yeah, genuine. equivalent of a MIJ standard will be a decent workhorse - nice colour
  3. I’ve read this a few times… I can take it or leave it. I gigged like a bastard from 13 years old to 34. And I don’t need to do it. I have debated it, joining a covers band just to play live… But I just don’t care. I’ve done big festivals and sh*tty pubs, full theatres and empty gig venues. I just don’t need or desire to gig much - about 4 a year would do me
  4. Yeah. Quite honestly the best P type bass I ever played or owned. if I wasn’t suffering from acute musicman-itis, I’d have this already. stunner.
  5. Most of the Gibson j200 acoustics (50’s-60’s) had figured maple necks, as did quite a few fenders of that era. (The pictured one is a 67/8) i know with fender that was just whatever maple they had - but Gibson obviously had great stocks of figured stuff because of Les Paul tops etc. A lot of the jazz guitar luthiers used flamed maple too for necks around that time. Anyhow - it’s a fancy bit of wood - I quite enjoy the Birdseye figuring on my 2 SR5’s and the “sledge” sabre I had was beautifully figured.
  6. Ooh god no, that’s a write off…dark boards only for matching heads…
  7. oooh my good lord… id plump white pickups but…
  8. If one of these turned up…I’d be in big bother.
  9. Now that’s an itch I didn’t know I needed to scratch 😳
  10. So cool
  11. I had to replace the bass parts on an album once, the original player was good but had messed up on timing and feel of some tracks so vocalist wanted another player. I arrived with a Warwick, a stingray and as I left I picked up my Hohner B2A as a “just in case” - the engineer/producer said “try that funny 80’s thing” and we used it on 9 more tracks - he couldn’t believe the noise out of it. Sold it years ago. Keep on meaning to get another.
  12. Erm…armchair.
  13. Yeah they’ll work.
  14. Yeah - it is a modded pickguard. Very well done though.
  15. Ooh ello
  16. The didn’t do them factory… The bass player for Emma Bunton (spice girl) played a sparkly 59dc in the video for her cover of “what I am”. He played it in a bath tub…(think they were fairly inexpensive and readily available at the time) When the video was done, he had it defretted and toured it… What a random recollection 😂
  17. Met them when they played in Manchester, soon after the film. Really really nice guys. Came in the day of the show and came in the day after as we’d sorted a couple of long cables for them - I soldered Lip’s guitar lead 😂. Forgive the image of me with them - I lost 3 stone soon after this (June 2010).
