  1. That ain’t wee wee mate…
  2. Ooof absolutely lovely - I too missed out on the eBay one, but a recent purchase says no to funds…
  3. I’ve said it before, but it’s worth saying again - I want Spector to Make me a BB, or yamaha to make me a BB Spector. It’s becoming an obsession, think I need to talk to John Shuker or something… There’s equal Love here - but I know I’ll not find another bb1600.
  4. Honestly Bri, even with slightly knackered GHS boomers on, it sounded bloody ace. I made the right choice
  5. Bit of studio time tonight. Bb1600 was ace
  6. £200 bass only… after that I’m done.
  7. That’s a wonderful performance of a great song. how come - (noticing quite lovely “hooky” esque playing) that Hooky is is revered and Clayton is somehow reviled on these pages? I’d do that every night of the week and twice on Sunday for a tenth of what Clayton has in the bank. More power to the guy. I admire him hugely.
  8. Ah yeah - I remember that. He still has an affiliation with them, was in a lot of the literature for “Meters” headphones. I suppose once you reach his level, it’s anything and everything - he’s had multiple signature basses for Fender and Warwick - after playing Lakland for years. A very nice position to be in.
  9. Not even…my special body part…🤨
  10. I did battle with a 68 tele neck and a 70’s p body. was never 100% happy
  11. The body end of the neck on “tele” basses is square. The regular precision neck…is rounded. get a luthier to do it.
  12. I’ll be back 😎
  13. The thing that strikes me is the quality of materials, (that maple!!!) - they obviously spare no expense making these. Obviously - @hiram.k.hackenbacker is an absolute stand up bloke, and if I were in a position to buy, I’d have no hesitation. Only mildly baffled as to why, once you’ve reached this pinnacle…you’d sell. But, I’ve got an inkling as to why that may be. It’s beautiful mate - totally out of my “type” but I think they’re ace.
  14. The SWR rig under that bass ended up as mine 😂
  15. Think so yes.
  16. Yeah, window full of ukes and books
  17. Just been to mum and dads. Found the pic!
  18. I really enjoyed the guild and I’d definitely say it’s on a par with the more expensive Taylor
  19. For context, haha… love this guy. last time we played together was his wedding. That was 4 years ago.
  20. I suppose my point of this thread was - do you still have your first bass? I hope it inspires him to “start again” - he really was a stunning guitarist, full of musicality - not a big soloist, but was a great textural player. Always had great timing and feel.
  21. My mate Rick owns it. It’s a brilliant little shop - he’s quite acoustic heavy, stock wise…but has the odd used Gem in. He’s also better on string prices than a lot of places. I try to order/buy bits from him regularly - he’s got about 10/15 basses in - and occasionally some nice used bass gear.
  22. So, in a few days my big brother turns 40. We played in bands together for years, and him having guitars in the house was my gateway to playing bass. Recently he’s expressed frustration that he’s not playing as much anymore and wants to get back into playing. When we were kids, I had an old yamaha bb300 and he got a matsumoku Westone Spectrum ST. Spoiled really - both of us playing really decent quality beginner instruments. In an ill-advised (probably cider fuelled) bout of “I want to be Kurt Cobain” he started sanding paint off and cutting bits off the westone. Eventally, the bits all ended up in a skip as he absolutely destroyed it. That was about 1998. I came across this at a lovely little shop (Marvel Guitars in Timperley, Altrincham) And away we go…
  23. I recently went through this with my MK500 and a pitchblack pro. the effects send will work. the tuner out is on the front of the amp, and there’s a second input on the front of the tuner. i was nervous of pulling the patch lead out from the front panel. so I bought a “flat” rockboard (Warwick) cable - and went from front panel under amp and into rear input on tuner. Its worth noting that when I mute the Ashdown - the signal still makes it to the tuner, whereas with the effect out - if I mute the amp, the signal does not. ahope that helps.
  24. Lucky get…whomever it is…
