  1. Lovely - I’ve got to stop buying! If this was the CAR/Maple version…it’d be game over.
  2. I keep looking at Vanderklay Spartan’s…thinking it’d be an expensive experiment 😂 The EBS has been a revelation for me, lovely thing - great when twinned with the Proline 410 - but my spine couldn’t manage it.
  3. Yeah, it’s like a bottomless pit for volume - warmth and clarity in buckets. just listening back to rehearsal from last night and while the sound in the room itself was odd, the playback is the best sound I’ve had in years. Typically - a passive bass straight into a nice amp…no pedals or gadgets in between. No criticism for people who do that - but with an FX heavy guitarist, this seems to work - plus the less complicated it is for me - the better 😂🥴
  4. Just ordered a Vanderklay cover. Got an email response to queries (no “buy” button for my cover online) and all sorted in 3 emails and should be here tomorrow. pretty easy so far.
  5. Red all night tonight - was due new strings for 5 basses and “next day” obviously means “not within 3 days…” but it seems the strings I kept as spares to put on the red one still had enough snap for one rehearsal…
  6. Better photo tonight. Weird room - for live tracking drums so was acoustically a bit odd…
  7. They’re not the same mate…similar, close, but not the yamaha ones.
  8. I thought @lee650had taken that ad down?!
  9. Thank you to our very own @MoJo for re-stocking my sucked sweetie control knob pile…I get stressed when I run out…
  10. yeah, it’s lovely - not for me though…my 450 is the sunburst bb I’m holding on to…
  11. Apologies @DarylClayton has a beautiful 2024x at £1500 @azumi has a 2024 at £1500 Both worth every penny - not much will get close at that money for a do it all bass… there’s a lovely looking bbp34 at £900 which is a great (and tempting) price
  12. To my mind - not enough to justify the huge gulf in price - I’m pretty sure the 1024 was about £600/£700 new and the 2024 was about £2000… the 2024’s I played never disappointed but also never made me giddy…at current used prices though (think there’s a nice sunburst one about £1500) you’d be very hard pressed to get better. The 1024x I had was a beauty - I absolutely regret not keeping it - but I will say, the rough and ready sound of the 424/414 suits me better - the extra refinement of the 1024/2024 would be a waste on my skill set - like giving fine wine and caviar to a chimpanzee.
  13. 625 doesn’t exist… 414/415 were passive 614/615 active 3 eq, no passive mode 414/614 then replaced by 424/1024/2024 - all passive, different country of manufacture, various wood treatments and pickup variants (all based on p/j though) modern day equivalent 434 = 414/424 (passive p/j) 734 = 614 (active p/j) 1024/2024 - bp34 (passive p/j but “posh”) 414/424/614 all 4 string 415/425/615 all 5 string
  14. Ooooooh yeah. SAUCY! Like reverb…but not crap.
  15. Looks cheap/boring - not as nice
  16. This was then owned by another guitarist who played it right handed. was this the one Dweezel Zappa had for a bit?
  17. I’m sure last time I enquired, it was abroad and well gone…
  18. Well, that’s my epitaph sorted…
  19. I’ve seen the pics. I feel it may have been my fault…🤣
  20. Usually when the “click” turns to a “thunk” I’ve got 5 new sets arriving tomorrow.
