On a serious note… Nothing Else Matters - Metallica (wife picked that for ours) And a few weddings I played at had that Twilight song…”a thousand years”. there you go… Not “closer” by NIN.

It just suited that song - the drummer at the time was a bit crash/bang/wallop (we all know one or two of them; direct descendants of Animal from the muppets) And the rest of the set was a bit full on, the singer fancied herself as a bit of a Manc Adele… Anyhow, was about 5 years ago now, and I don’t have to worry about that song, that singer, or that band anymore 👍🏼

One rehearsal I was warming up and played the first chord (piano chord A but on bass) of “someone like you” by Adele. The singer said “ooh yeah, can we do that?” So without a piano player and with the song not suitable for a full band version - I figured it out for bass and vocal. Absolutely belting way to finish the first set at a busy gig. But those 2 men and a border collie gigs - it was soul destroying. We we’re about to stop doing it. and then we did a gig where half of the stages power went off - and it saved the day as the bass amp, mixer and one of the speakers were in the other circuit. (The landlord messed with the fuse box and we finished the gig as a full band) Never write off the songs you despise playing.

It’s been about 10 years since my last DR trial. Maybe it’s time again - although I seemed to dislike them (hi beams I think) - I’m obviously a bit of a Goldilocks for strings 😂

I’m going through GHS 45-100’s like no tomorrow currently, love them but they die when you breathe near them - 2 rehearsals (so 8 hours play) and they’re useless, well…I’m exaggerating but at £25 a pop 😂

Back in the club. Sometimes you see a bass and you think “I have to have it….” So a year to the day I collected my last Spector (435xl) It’s time to go again.

You can buy the bb 414/1024 bridge pickups, you could make it a neck through yamajazz… it’s also 4.9kg too 😳

No. To return it to stock would basically be impossible and you’d spend about £400 putting it right for it to ultimately be worth about £600 if that. If you’re after one, look at one which isn’t hacked up. If it was about £150/£200 it’d be worth the investment I suppose.
