Ah, yeah at £999, a well Made jazz...

I tried a sunburst one a while ago. Was neither bowled over nor disgusted by it...think it was about £1400 so it was a bit expensive for “meh”.

I generally used what I use on electrics...40-100 d’addario XL nickels. it’s been a while though. Added some photos I’ve found

I have owned about 10 acoustic basses over the years. The best were Guild B30e from the 1990’s it was absolutely stunning and loud. But they’re rare and not cheap. A Tacoma Thunder Chief was the original intended purchase but it arrived smashed...(cheers TNT) - even broken, I could tell it would’ve been amazing; easily on a par with the guild. I had a Breedlove 5 string which was nice too. A Sigma was a cheep and cheerful surprise, I’d have another of those if I needed an ABG. I tried loads of strings with ABG’s and found that the phosphor bronze strings were generally crap. I loved the warmth of Thomastik’s - they’re mad expensive and feel a bit rubbery but the sound was beautiful. To mimic an upright, I used roto trubass. I have access to a Fender BG-32 which happens occasionally...

I didn’t end up getting my hands on one.

There’s a thread somewhere about a guy on eBay who does good pickguards using your original as a template. I’ll see if I can find it for you.

First Video - bit ropey, I’ve possibly tweaked the bridge to be too low, so there’s a bit of rattle going on. I’m going to leave it now until the strings settle. Second Vid - just seeing how viable it’ll be on some new ideas I’m sending the band. I’ve been doing these on my Spector so I have to remind myself the JC is a bit more agricultural 😂

I’m going to change them. Just haven’t bought them yet 😉

Yeah, sat next to me here, it looks like a sage green colour, in the kitchen earlier it was like a petrol blue...

On the colour - it’s mental, it’s about 50 shades of green and blue. The walnut stain back and sides are a lovely contrast.
