I’m in the same boat - I mean, they both turned up. Which is good. If the guy you know played it well, the nerves don’t matter. If he played it well nervous; how good will he be when calm? Whats the genre of music? I know image is a big deal in Metal. Like the others say...go with your gut. Don’t write either off just yet, as we’ve made errors of judgement in recent months and ended up binning off two guitarists who we swore blind were “the one”.

Hairspray for ink. In the 90’s my mum and dad took delivery of two lovely dark green leather couches. I sat down for the first time on one of these expensive items with a broken biro in my pocket... cue farty pants. Rang mum at work (dad would’ve reached down the phone line to slap me). A woman at her work had just taken delivery of a 100 handy cleaning tips book by Kim and Aggie (remember them?) and the font of knowledge poured forth. Handy.

The Sadowsky is “better” and “Nicer” - recording wise direct into the desk...nothing can touch the Sadowsky Pre - now I’m using the blue Miller (with Sadowsky Pre) a lot this is becoming obvious. But I enjoy the 414 just as much, and it’s an angry sounding thing. Put it this way, I won’t be buying a Fender to replace it. This is all in my opinion and I don’t want to upset any particular camp with the statements above. I’m sure everyone has their own take on it.

But...go back to where the controls follow the body line - it looks odd with them going straight down like a telecaster.

I have a bb414 which cost me £130 ish, and a Sadowsky HPJ which cost £2500. I genuinely sit and debate which one to use. I’ve had something from every Yamaha price point (Started at a bb300 And topped out at a TRB5PII) I will say, that because they’re so consistently good - I don’t get attached to them like I would a nicer fender or something, but it means I get to try them all...
