  1. He’s just not really getting it. he’s shown us about 5 ideas tonight. And all sound like the old “total guitar” jam along tracks in the style of RHCP. One of ‘his’ chord progressions was Californication. And I played the Flea bass riff over the Chords - he didn’t bat an eyelid. Another one was “Readymade” another was “Dark Necessities”. The rest were derivatives. Anything I brought to the table - which I have loads of little ideas...decent enough...he just played those derivative wah things over - and not even in the key. He apologised profusely. But he was well off. I called it an hour early and I’m sat on the drive fizzing, before I have a beer. Singer and Drummer looking to me for answers or to step in. I’d just had enough - was awkward. Felt like turd all day so I didn’t need it.
  2. This rehearsal is one of those “oh dear” moments. Nothing being achieved.
  3. I think so. There was a comment about the bass being very busy when the original track was sent through, and I wonder if it’s not his thing. We’ll see.
  4. Right, after a little quiet from the initially enthusiastic Mike... He’s contacted singer to say he’s not well...
  5. I was going to say that but you go-d-in early...
  6. love a good sadowsky knob...
  7. Done - it’s finished now.
  8. Haha. No mate - it’s like an old friend already. Well...by my bass standards I’ve been committed For more than 3 months - so...
  9. My sadowsky is just like Mary Poppins. Apart from the dink caused by one of the kids knocking something over which fell onto it.
  10. I think I’ll pursue a used one - an 84 would be YOB - at least then the hit will be minimal if my memory betrays me and I’m not as in love as an owner as I was as a temporary custodian.
  11. I think that particular Elrick range/model has a look of the Ken Smith BT4 (or earlier KS models). Not for me - but lovely all the same.
  12. At least 25. There’ll always be one telling us we’re doing it wrong. 😉
  13. The ‘job’ is to get the occupant from A-B. So they would complete the same task. One has the potential to do it much quicker. Anyhow.
  14. Another one. We’ll call him “Pete” (he isn’t called Pete) Just. So wise of the mark. Absolutely a “thanks...don’t call us; we’ll call you” kind of thing... Good effort for actually doing it though... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ye3TVXZDDgdIqfuGmZrNrLfDaowWCLR4/view?usp=drivesdk
  15. Well (Wal). Before Mr Herman took the ropes, there was a mention of the UK PRS distributor Headline taking over the brand. Within the discussion was an “SE” type line. And I think that’s where the talks fell apart.
  16. I’d order a mk1, love the shape. Played a mk2 and a mk3, but a Wal to me - is a mk1
  17. £6000+ is a no go. Just checked in - she says £5000 is the limit. And quite right too. I want one - but not £6000. I’m not a bad player, but my sadowsky at £2500 is better than I deserve.
  18. I have ALWAYS wanted a Wal for my 40th (in 4 years). Mrs Travis (who is fit and supportive) has said it absolutely can happen. But I’ll most likely be buying used - otherwise the order will have to go in next year.
  19. I would hope if you agree a build at £6000 that’s the final price you pay - even if the basses creep up to £7500 by the time yours is delivered. Or have I missed the point?
  20. I’m sure there was a lengthy post about it on his website regarding this headstock branding. But he’s changed website about 3 times since.
