  1. Got 2 Sadowsky’s, and I love the HPJ. The RV4 is awesome and lovely, but I prefer the fuller HPJ body and the sound. Its immaculate bar one tiny little “is that an eyelash?!” Mark where it rests on your knee. I’m only interested in a specific trade - another HPJ but with a maple board. Preferably natural. Depending on condition - could just be a straight swap. Light, under 9lbs, VTC, “MetroLine” 2016. Morado (Pau Ferro), Alder body, light sadowsky case, tools etc.
  2. I’ve sat playing bass for an hour. The Sadowsky J and P/J. Really like the P/J sound over everything. I don’t know if this entire MM thing is a folly of boredom. Will get the parts together and see how I feel. Hmm.
  3. I had a bridge up for sale - wilkinson. I’d paid £15, tried it on a bass and listed for £12 posted: Didnt realise some web stores had them up for £10 posted. Genuine error. Although I did see a bass on eBay for £750 which ended up on here at £1500 a week later. Should've said something. It sold.
  4. Yeah - Andy is doing the woodwork bit, so should look tidy enough once fully refinished.
  5. Cheers mate - ended up with an Aguilar and East setup from @bagsieblue think eventually it’ll be Ice blue metallic respray and a pearl pickguard... see how we go - will look like a bit of a patchwork for a bit. No more pennies in the pot.
  6. Yeah. A Sadeacy. Absolutely gorgeous.
  7. Well that’s a “phew” moment. Our very own @Andyjr1515 is tackling the rout for me.
  8. I think my issue with the “banshee” is two fold. It’s a stupid name for a bass which obviously needs flats on it - and a foam mute; the “sleeping sheepie” would’ve been more apt. And that bloody headstock is nearly as big as the body and will cause much neck dive. A more slender version of the J headstock would work.
  9. Jesus, you’ve snapped the key in the door and broken the window to make it better.
  10. Here - 3 bass headstock alternatives currently in production by the same company they could’ve picked. and an example of how one of those designs works fine on one of their own quirky pseudo-retro designs...
  11. I was so excited when I saw the first promo shot - that colour and quirky little body - I was willing to forgo the “I will never play short scales” rule I have... But sh*t me, that headstock. Not even a mother could love it.
  12. Well. Best get me drills out. looks like an Aggie/East mashup jazz bass stingray is coming
  13. Just as I mull costs over - has anyone tried the retro vibe stinger 77 preamp?
  14. Don’t you worry about me sunshine. I’m doin alright...21 fret bass is the donor. 21 fret stingray pickguard kindly on loan from @Normski on its way. Then @bagsieblue has stingray guts strewn all across his house.
  15. Well I’ve got some offers of bits coming in - @drTStingray I appreciate the idea of 2pu, but really this is just so I have an MM sound in my rack without having to buy another ray. And I fancy messing with a bass - not done it for a bit.
  16. I’m going to use a MM pickguard, get the definitive spot. Hoping @Normski has a spare he can lend me for measurements.
  17. Right - I’m in on this. I’ve owned 6 stingrays, love the sound but always seem to want more for my money. Recently had a Modulus Flea, and it was lush - but not Stingray-ish enough. Anyhow, I have my donor body and neck. Now I’m hoping someone somewhere has the guts of a USA stingray going spare.
  18. How come mate, you could’ve flogged it for a few quid.
  19. @GrumpyBassist you’re in luck https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264695618219
  20. I wouldn’t for £2k, but will watch part 5 for completion
